We stayed in this cottage for 3 days in Nov. The cottage was so cute, exceptionally clean and just so cozy. We didn't really notice the truck traffic -but then it was too cool to open the windows. Very convenient to the bike trail and also a nice trail along the stream right behind the cottage. we really enjoyed staying here and would love to come back for another visit. The owner was quite helpful in returning to me an item that I left at the cottage. Thanks so much to our gracious hosts.

Fall Foliage

We stayed in the cottage in October 2011. It was immaculately clean and had the most comfortable furniture including beds that I have ever seen in a rental or for that matter in a lot of private homes. The cottage sits back from a 2 lane road that has a fair amount of truck traffic, but the back yard is like a little nature preserve with daily visits from deer and even black bears eating from the apple tree. It is conveniently located a short distance away from the "Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania" with great views from Colton Point and Leonard Harrison State Park. It's also a short drive to the picturesque town of Wellsboro and the Pine Creek Rail Trail which is ideal for walkers and bikers. Very scenic area. Although Pine Creek is visible from the property, it's not really readily accessible so the house is really just a great staging point for visiting the area. Very pleased with our stay.

Welcoming Cottage

We have just returned from our visit to Wellsboro. This beautiful log cottage was just as described. It is located a bit out of town, but the peace and quiet was worth the trip. Pine Creek moves along in back of the yard, and you can hear it from the deck. The yard is nicely appointed for outside activities, including a fire ring and swing (one for adults; one for children). The cabin was very nice, too. The bedrooms are nicely decorated with comfortable beds. A TV is available, but we didn't use it too much. The cabin is closer to the Grand Canyon than staying in town. We were looking forward to some relaxation and quiet, and the cottage was exactly what we needed. We would highly recommend it to others.

This cottage is beautiful and well appointed. The grounds are beautiful and we loved the wildlife. The property is extremely close to the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon which was a real plus for us. The only drawback (and the reason I knocked off a star) is that it is very close to a busy state road. If you live in the city this may not be an issue for you but it would help if you are accustomed to road noise.

The cottage is well kept and very comfortable. It is tastefully decorated and guests are made to feel right at home. Listing indicates "washer and dryer" but a sign on the appliance said, "please do not use". Although is is right along Rt 6, the traffic noise is a minimal at night. The PA Grand Canyon is a MUST SEE!

Not a peaceful vacation

With sincere disappointment, I need to provide my first negative feedback on a property that I would strongly suggest Not renting. We love using VBRO and HomeAway.com to find great properties but unfortunately, this was not one. The VBRO listing has the property listed as: Air-conditioning – there is one small window unit trying with not much success to cool the entire house which made sleeping uncomfortable. Washer/Dryer – There is a letter on it telling guests not to use them. It’s difficult to stay a week without doing a load especially when using the towels they provide. Convertible bed – Broken. We needed to cancel one guest that was supposed to visit for 3 days after arriving. Enjoy the peace and serenity - ??? Not at this cottage!! The recent gas industry has taken over the area and the large gas trucks rumble very loudly and close from morning to late night preventing keeping the windows open or sitting outside and even in the back yard enjoying the peace that was advertised. A neighbor further down the road is equally upset with the never ending noise seven days a week. You will find similar comments in their guest book about Route 6. Damage to our vehicle – We discovered damage to one of our vehicles in the morning after neighbors were drinking late into the evening. Their house is positioned close and uses the same driveway to pull out onto the busy road. Water View – Not quite what VBRO readers would expect to be accurate. Unstable power – We lost power preventing both the fans to cool the house and toilets to flush. We needed to buy water to flush the toilets. Beds - A week of stiff backs in the morning. It bothers me to leave negative feedback because the owners seem like good hearted people and we wish them success. I have clearly stated the true facts about our experience for the benefit of other vacationers as we always appreciate hearing the truth about properties that we look to rent. I expect a response disputing the truth of our unfortunate experience. In 24 years of vacationing, we have honestly never received negative feedback on our stay nor have we left negative feedback on a single property. We’ve traveled coast to coast and internationally and will continue to use VBRO.

This is a hidden gem. Wonderful atmosphere, peaceful and just far away but still close to town. We love it so much that we've returned for the last 3 yrs. and brought family & friends. Top notch facility, everything you could ask for. We hate to leave but know we'll be coming back. You can't go wrong with this "cottage", absolutely beautiful.

Pine Creek Gem

Meticulously kept and ideally located log cottage in the middle of everything in Wellsboro area. Great home away from home for 4 outdoor enthusiasts for 5 days. Families could be just as comfortable in this cozy abode. We will be back, for sure.

As I mentioned in the guest book at the cabin; if there was a negative, it would have been the proximity to Route 6 and the noisy traffic. Otherwise, we had a fabulous time. The bears and critters provided great entertainment. The cottage was exceptionally clean and furnished very tastefully. I would highly recommend this to any of my friends. We look forward to a return visit.

Quaint atmosphere inside cottage - a real delight. Beautiful back yard and very nice fire pit. Very scenic - love Wellsboro and Galeton is just cute. Nice access to PA Grand Canyon - great bike trail.

What a lovely cottage to stay in when visiting the Wellsboro area. We were having a "girl's weekend" and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the cottage. It was so nice to drive up the driveway and see the cottage decorated so nicely. The kitchen was stocked well with everything you needed to feel right at home. The beds were comfortable and we all seemed to sleep like we were visiting a 4 star hotel! In the morning we were happy to watch the blue jays visiting the tree out the back window. Wellsboro is a quaint town with plenty of good shopping and lovely places to eat. We would definitely like to return to the cottage sometime soon.

We had a wonderful stay at this cozy cabin. It was tasteful decorating including a Christmas tree, which was such a nice touch and everything was clean and nicely arranged. The kitchen was fully stocked, which was a nice surprise. We had stayed at a cabin in the area previously and we would stay at this one over the other one again. It was located in an area with easy access to the main highway with local restaurants near by and food shopping only a few miles away. The owners of the property were very helpful answering any question we had and were very accommodating. This cabin is great for any age and there are enough activities in the area to make the stay great for singles, couples and families. It is well worth the cost and we thank the family who is willing to share their home away from home with us.

Wellsboro Anniversary Vacation

This is the first time my husband and I have ever rented through Vacation Rentals By Owner and it certainly won't be the last. The cottage we chose was absolutely perfect and was beyond our expectations. You fall in love with the rustic charm immediately and once you step out of your car you really can feel the peacefulness and serenity of the mountains surrounding you and it doesn't stop there. The cottage itself makes you feel at home as soon as you step in, it was incredibly clean, stocked with little extras that you may have forgotten and beautfiully decorated and very well taken care of. From the outside the cottage appears small but it really is much more spacious than you would think. The family had the cottage decorated for fall and that added a special "homey" touch and the landscaping was very natural and fit in with nature. The peaceful feeling of the land only continued once you were out back sitting on the deck or walking to the edge of the property; when there was no traffic you could actually hear the babbling of the water from the creek that ran behind the property. The view of the mountains and beautiful autumn colors were a perfect compliment to celebrating our wedding anniversary. The town of Wellsboro itself felt like you were stepping back in time or that it was a town one only sees in a movie. Quaint and unassuming with beautiful victorian homes, the streets lined with beautiful street lamps added to the charm of this town. We had dinner at the Wellsboro diner and it really felt like you stepped back in time, certainly not like the diners they have around now and we had an amazing dinner at The Steak House restaurant. Our first trip to Wellsboro and in renting this beautiful cottage made our anniversary exceptionally special and one we won't forget. We will definitely be making plans to come back to the cottage in the future. The family was an absolute delight to deal with and we are so thankful that they have this hidden treasure that is so special to them and that they are sharing it with others...wonderful way to pay it forward. Wonderful vacation cottage in an amazing setting.

We spent a week at Tshudy's Mountain Cottage and had a fantastic stay! The cottage is lovely with all the necessary modern conveniences for a young family. The Tshudy family was so helpful and welcoming. Kitchen was equipped with all the essentials and we loved eating our meals on the back deck. The cottage is nicely decorated and was very clean - you definitely feel that you are in a country setting. The yard is beautiful and the swings were a huge hit with our 5 year old son. Saw a great deal of wildlife - chippies, squirrels, rabbits, blue jays oh and daily visits by bears, including a mama with four cubs! Woke one night to the sound of an owl outside - absolutely amazing. The area was perfect as well - the location was remote but close enough to Wellsboro and highways to allow us to travel in the vicinity with ease. We loved hiking trails at the nearby "grand canyon" and hope to return next year with bikes because the Pine Creek Trail is so close! Thank you for providing us with a much needed vacation - we returned home completely relaxed and refreshed (although we hated to leave!).

I used to live in the Mansfield / Wellsboro area and my mother still does. I wanted to do something a little different the last time we went up to visit her. After a lengthy search we came upon this cottage. The descriptions on the website do not do it justice. This place is fantastic. It is very clean, very user friendly and from the minute you unlock the door, it feels like home. We were fortunate enough to see the Mama bear and her four cubs as well. What a treat. My wife and I agree that it is in the top 3 places that we have ever stayed. So relaxing and serene. Just lovely. Our 2 year old son loved it too. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to get back in touch with nature.

The Mountain Cottage

This is a lovely cottage to stay in. It is extremely clean and well-maintained. There is an enormous yard where you have the opportunity to interact with nature. There is a trail and a creek behind the house which are wondeful for exploring. The town of Wellsboro is just minutes away with wondeful shops and restaurants. It is also very close to Pennsylvania's Grand Canyon, a must see for anyone in this area. I highly recommend staying at this property.

I have stayed at this property a few times and highly recommend it to families looking for a great get-away! The cottage location is excellent and it has all the comforts of home! Just pack your cloths and a cooler of food. The kitchen is stocked with all the cooking utensils you need, the linens and towels are also included. The beds are extremely comfortable and the cottage is just like home! The property has a great deck, an outdoor grill, swing for the kid’s, plenty of space in the back yard to play with the kid's . You can relax by the fire circle and there is plenty of fire wood provided. What a great bargain for such beautiful accommodations!

We had a wonderful time at the cabin. It was beautiful! We went up to the Colton Point look out and saw the beautiful views of the canyon. No bears in at the cabin, but since it's hunting season, I'm sure they are hiding way up in the mountains. We hope to come again in the Spring.

We had a wonderful time at your cottage. If we ever come to your area again we will be sure to stay there. My husband did see a small bear down on the trail about a mile from the cottage; he also saw a bobcat one morning down by the creek. The rest of us saw nothing. Oh well, maybe next time. Everything was wonderful. The cottage is a charm (I could have just moved there). Rarely do you find something so great for rent. It was totally awesome and we plan on returning. Beautiful cottage along Route 6 but step out into the back yard and you are in another place. Lovely grounds, creek not far away, animals and birds. Highlight was seeing the bear one night and see a deer the next night. But we seen many squirrels, bunnies, and all types of birds. Everything went smoothly and the Zellers are excellent to deal with.

Great cabin! My family and I stayed for the 4th of July weekend and couldn't have been happier! The cottage has all the comforts of home and was perfect for us. I have to mention how clean it was as well, as that is something very important to us with small children...especially one that crawls!! Definitely a good place to see bears! This cottage exceeded all of our expectations and is an exceptional value! It is truly beautiful and has every amenity that we wanted. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to visit the Grand Canyon of PA/ Wellsboro and vicinity. The owners have done a superior job in remodeling, decorating and making it completely comfortable, relaxing and fun. We loved every minute of our stay!
