Welcome to Winton Cottage, a former Lairds House in the beautiful countryside of East Lothian. The house was fully refurbished in 2007 and is very spacious and comfortable. Sleeping 10 - 12 people in 5 luxurious bedrooms all individually designed with their own bathrooms. There is a beautiful big dining room with French windows onto a large sunny terrace and barbeque area as well as a Summer house and sandpit in the large south facing garden.
The house is located within the 2000 acres of Winton Country Estate only half an hour drive from our historic capital city of Edinburgh, and only 20 minutes to some of Scotland's finest links golf courses and seaside with sandy beaches. Glenkinchie distillery is only a 5 minute drive away along with many other places of interest and Stately homes.
Winton Cottage is a great location for families, golf groups or those wishing a relaxing holiday with all the comforts of a 5 bedroom property. We can arrange catering and housekeeping if required.

Owner Description
Winton Cottage is owned by Sir Francis and Lady Ogilvy who live nearby in a wing of Winton House. The Estate has been owned by the Ogilvy Family since 1888 and Winton House is one of the most architecturally significant buildings in Scotland due to its unique twisted carved chimneys built in the 1620's. Winton Cottage was the Laird or factor's house and is only a 5 minute walk from the main house.

We rented Winton Cottage for two weeks for a combined family gathering and 40th wedding anniversary celebration. It's rare that any travel experience exceeds expectations but this stay was the exception in many ways. The cottage is beautiful and exceptionally well maintained, a special and historic place with all the modern conveniences. Its location on Winton Estate contributed greatly to our enjoyment - very quiet and peaceful while still close to Edinburgh and other areas of interest. Pencaitland and the surrounding countryside are easily reached by walking. We will highly recommend Winton Cottage to friends and hope to return soon!

I stayed at Winton Cottage for a weekend in June 2009. The Cottage is beautifully decorated and so comfortable, it's obviously well cared for. My guests and I all felt really at home for the entire weekend which was exactly what we wanted. The surrounding countryside is also very well kept, and a lot to do within easy driving distance. Now I'm looking for a reason to go back!
