  It was a great place! Bedrooms were roomy and very comfortable with ac when needed. Love having 2 full baths and lots of seating area for eating. We live here and some had to come separately, there was more than enough parking. We definitely will recommend it. Market and great local food near by as well as tourist attractions. Great for fishing and boogie boarding.

  Recommended for: Families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

  My family enjoyed our stay in this lovely, homey beach house. We were hoping for a clean, comfortable place to stay with immediate beach access and privacy. This house met our expectations completely. My teens were quite happy with the wireless internet and TV. We enjoyed the tranquil, secluded beach each day and loved the proximity to the North Shore beaches and towns. Thank you!

  My family and I stayed at this beach house and thought it was perfect for what we needed on the North Shore of Oahu. It was clean, secluded, had great views, and had a lot of nice space outdoors. The walk to the beach from the front door is less than a minute. The beach itself is a long stretch of pristine white sand beach, and there was hardly anyone on the beach while we were there. It is a 15-minute drive from some of the big wave surf spots and even closer to some very nice resort golf courses. This would be a great place for a family vacation or for anyone looking for a romantic getaway in Hawaii.

  We live in Honolulu and have enjoyed several mini-vacations at this beach house. Malaekahana Beach is lovely - perfect for long walks, body surfing, building sand castles. The house is unpretentious, geared for active beach life (tile floors). No guilt about wet bathing suits and sandy feet here. Awaken to the rising sun and the scent of ocean on the trade winds. So many stars at night. Fall asleep to the rhythm of waves when surf's up. This is a residential neighborhood of second homes for long-established local families, so you may not even encounter another person on the beach on a week day.

  If you are thinking about renting this home, contact the owner and ask if he has done any work on the property before renting (e.g., pest removal and control, yard clean-up, washing the windows, and a thorough cleaning of all surfaces, including the removal of the hundreds of dead insects inside the kitchen cupboards) and removing the strong fish odor from the refrigerator/freezer. After spending two hours cleaning the rental ourselves upon arrival another concern came up and we decided to leave. The owner did refund our money. The house is in a great location, it just needs a large dose of attention, and the amenities list needs to be updated. Other things to be aware of: The advertised ice-maker is inside the freezer. Unless the fish odor is removed, don't count on ice for beverage or food purposes. The king-size bed was a queen (and there were a few live ants on the bed) There was no dishwasher There was no phone The air-conditioning consisted of one small window unit in one bedroom. There was a small fan in the living room but it was so grimy that I would not recommend using it. The living room is set up differently than in the photo, which you could re-arrange. The furniture itself needs cleaning. I was excited to come to this rental, and disappointed to have to leave and drive back to the city and check into a hotel at 11 pm for two nights (which cost me $500, plus $15 to use the hotel computer to find a new place) Not the best way to start out my dream vacation.

  Owner response: All other renters (see below) have been very pleased. On this occasion the previous renter had left home in uncleanly condition and clean-up crew did not prepare for turnover. New systems are now in place. Also we have clarified the listing after this renter, as it was correct that there were some errors in the entries of some of the VRBO categories (Queen incl. not King Bed).
