In the late 1940's, not many people knew about the Northwest Florida area. One of our early settlers were the Jones family from Camden, Alabama. Mr. Jones had this cottage built for his wife and two daughters. Eric Allen built this home and was the developer for all of Dune Allen area, and gave it his name. This home is the last remaining home that Eric built.
This home has an amazing view, and has been refurbished to show its charm. We know that you will enjoy this peaceful place and call it "your Summer home!".

Our family of four stayed at Idle Hours for a week and we loved it! The place has such character and a warm home-like feel. We spent hours sitting on the deck watching dolphins, sunsets and moon beams on the water. We will definately be back. Dune Allen is a great quiet spot, it is the complete opposite of busy Destin which is exactly what we were looking for. We enjoyed great meals at Stinky's, Shorty's, the Red Bar and Basmati's to name a few. Our little poodle enjoyed the stay as well and we loved being able to bring him along.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car.
