Wow... I can't say enough about how great our weekend was at this cabin! It is truly a treasure - remote, but with wonderful access to Spruce Knob, Seneca Rocks, Seneca Caverns, and even Dolly Sods. The cabin has all the comforts of home: a very well-equipped spacious kitchen, nice furnishings, a fireplace, washer/dryer, and a grill. It also has a large deck, complete with Adirondack chairs and a telescope for star-gazing... And you will definitely see stars, as it is so dark and quiet, and the night sky is beautiful. My boyfriend and I desperately needed a getaway from our busy lives and work, and this was a perfect place to slow down and enjoy each other, and really talk. We hiked 13.5 miles on Saturday at Dolly Sods, and visited Seneca Caverns and hiked up the Rocks on Sunday. Bill (the owner) was so fantastic - he called the first night to check on us, and then agreed to let us stay for two more nights when we weren't ready to leave our heavenly solitude on Monday. We hiked 16 miles at Spruce Knob on Monday (yes, we got lost, but what better way to bond with someone over nine hours than hiking and talking... we covered a lot!) I would highly recommend this cabin for a couples' retreat, and our heartfelt thanks to Bill for his kindness throughout our five-night stay. We have already shared our rave reviews with many friends!

The house and setting are beautiful. Amenities and comfort were flawless. My wife and I had a wonderful time and Bill was very quick to respond to all our questions. I know you are waiting for the "but" and here it is, after paying the premium rate for the 2 night stay for 2 adults, I felt gouged by the cash for the cleaning. I would do it all again except I would negotiate the cleaning fee if it were just my wife and I again. Black Water Falls, Canaan Valley Resort Tubing, Blackwater Brewing Company Wit Bier and Stout, Seneca Rocks were highlights, The Gateway pancakes were not. We didn't make it to Spruce Knob or Spruce Knob Lake but the other fantastic mountain and valley views will remain in our memories.

Owner response: I'm sorry you feel this way I have owned the Cabin for 4 years and the rates have never gone up and the cleaning fee has always been $60. I have never had a complaint before. Again I'm sorry you feel this way.

We had an incredible week with our two boys 3 and 6 yrs. This Spruce Knob luxury retreat is very special and secluded on the highest mountain in WV. You need to drive to do fun outings but there are many in the area. We loved swimming in the Seneca Rocks swimming hole. We explored the Seneca Rock Caverns, Blackwater Falls, horseback riding in Canaan Valley, Big John's Fixins', Greenbelt National Astronomy Observatory, and Cass Scenic Railroad. The house had a lot of room and is stocked with everything you need. The nice fire pit in the woods in back of the house is fantastic! There were a lot of games for the kids and a telescope for star gazing at night. Walking out on the deck and star gazing after midnight was amazing. I highly recommend this house for a family vacation.

THE CABIN WAS LOVELY. THE ICE MAKER DIDN'T WORK AND WE COULDN'T SHOWER BUT ONE PERSON AT A TIME TO MAINTAIN HOT WATER, BUT OTHER THAN THAT IT WAS GREAT! WOULD DEFINITELY RENT AGAIN. THE OWNER WAS VERY NICE AND CONCERNED ABOUT OUR FEW MATTERS AND TRIED TO TAKE CARE OF THEM.

Owner response: We addressed the hot water heater issue and it is repaired. The ice maker is working again just a frozen filter.

This was a really nice cabin in a very scenic part of WV. The owner was helpful and everything was as advertised on VRBO. This is a fairly remote location, so if you like outdoor activities like hiking or scenic drives this is a great place for you. Don't expect to be close to any major towns but the bare essentials (a few restaurants and gas stations) are reasonably close. Besides, you have a full kitchen and a grill to use at the cabin. This was definitely a better option for us than any of the hotels in the area.

This mountain home is tucked in the trees on a quiet road near the highest point in West Virginia. It is near the hiking trails of Spruce Knob and Dolly Sods and all that Canaan Valley and Seneca Rocks have to offer. The home itself is very clean, comfortable and well appointed. The large windows provide mountain breezes and good views of the wooded lot. The deck is wonderful for stargazing and relaxing anytime. The owner is friendly, responsive and available; he makes the rental process easy. I highly recommend this vacation home.

This 5 star cabin was everything we read about in previous reviews. Beautiful, clean, & well kept. No critters sharing the cabin with you, a feature my wife appreciates. We have been to this area before and enjoyed our stay this time as well. There are lots to do and not too far to get there. A nicely secluded mountain cabin that has a fantastic star viewing deck. A telescope was in the cabin and we were able to see the rings around Saturn! I would definitely stay at this cabin again. Bill put me on to a swim hole in Seneca creek that was a nice touch. Looking to stay in spruce knob-seneca rocks, this cabin is for you.

While we only came for a long weekend, we would definitely stay longer in the future! The house is gorgeous - beautiful, big windows and deck, and very well kept. Loved the location, and being able to see a lot of open sky at night made for really good star gazing.

My crew has transitioned from ten to cabin camping since everyone started having kids. This place was a really great place to relax and spend time with the toddlers. There are two bedrooms, one with bunk beds and a double bed, and the other with a queen. You could also comfortably throw an aerobed down in the living room. The space is ample, kitchen is large (pictures don't do it justice). The porch is huge and there's a fire pit outside, far enough from the cabin for those without kids to stay up late around the fire. The grill is a large gas (propane tank) grill. Only luxury the place is missing is a hot tub. The space was also very well stocked, there were tons of clean towels, a couple extra propane cylinders, and there were tons of board games, puzzles, etc. to play with the kids. The only negative was the lack of phone signal, but I think that's the case throughout the area. There is a land line that can receive calls, and there's wifi in the cabin so you won't be completely cut off. I highly recommend.

We stayed 4 nights at this lovely cabin - Mom, Dad, 5 year old son and 2 year old twin girls. The layout of the cabin was perfect and it was extremely well equipped. There were even two pack-n-plays with bedding! Our children slept in the upstairs bedroom and we used the bathroom on that level for them. Our children climb stairs okay and we were not worried by them being on the upper level - a gate was available and the stairs themselves are wide and not particularly steep. We took the downstairs bedroom and ensuite (through a large closet) bathroom. We were able to watch television, chat and enjoy the cabin in the evening without bothering the little ones - perfect. The cabin is in woods with a large deck. The children enjoyed exploring in the woods and picking up "good" branches for Dad to burn in the fire pit. We found the owner very helpful and were grateful for his suggestions on good places for young children - we and they particularly enjoyed Seneca Rocks. The Discovery Center there provided a good couple of hours of entertainment (and could have been more); the first part of the trail to the observation platform is very easy and our children loved exploring and climbing on the boulders just off the trail; and the picnic area provided a wonderful view of the rocks and the chance for safe play before and after lunch. Overall a wonderful escape to the mountains in a very relaxing and welcoming cabin.
