Loved this Home!

Guest: Rio (Arlington, VA)
Date of Stay: 05/04/12 Review Submitted: 05/16/12

My husband, dog and I recently returned from our visit to Wilmington and stay at The Italianate. We had a marvelous time and I can’t say enough about the accommodations. The Italianate was tastefully furnished and impeccably clean. The beds were very comfortable. The townhome is centrally located in the Historic District only a short walk to shopping, eating and the River Walk. It was so nice to leave the car behind and stroll past the beautiful historic homes to shop, eat and walk the dog. My husband was very impressed with the Italianate and we will certainly plan to stay here again on our next visit to Wilmington.

This was an ideal home in a superb location in the historic district of Wilmington. We thoroughly enjoyed wandering the historic neighborhood and the close proximity (walking distance) to the downtown shops, restaurants, and farmer's market. The home was very comfortable, clean and relaxing! Just what we were looking for!

Myself, my husband and our two dogs stayed here at the end of April for four nights. The rooms are very spacious and spotless. The kitchen is fully equiped with great quality equipment. It's located in a beautiful historic neighborhood and an easy walk to downtown. Daphne was great to work with and our deposit was waiting for us in our mailbox when we got home! It was perfect!

Great Vacation Property Walking Distance to Downtown Wilmington

Guest: Carolyn (Raleigh, NC)
Date of Stay: 03/16/12 Review Submitted: 03/28/12

We had a great time visiting Wilmington and I participated in the half marathon at Wrightsville Beach. The townhouse is in a great location and we walked to dinner as well as the St. Patty's Day parade! We brought our dog too and the house is very clean, nicely decorated, and had all of the amenities one would need during a stay. The fenced in garden was perfect for our dog and our young daughter loved the swing on the front porch. I definitely recommend this townhouse for an extended weekend stay or longer - great choice for the Wilmington area!

CHARMING

Guest: Kathi (Boalsburg, PA USA)
Date of Stay: 03/03/12 Review Submitted: 03/19/12

We thoroughly enjoyed the 2 weeks we spent in Wilmington at the Italianate! This charming townhome was decorated beautifully. Daphne takes meticulous care of her property. The kitchen is well supplied with all the necessary ammenities needed for cooking and dining. The beds are extremely comfortable and each bed is supplied with several pillows as well as comforters and coverlets. The proximity to the Riverwalk, shopping and restaurants is fantastic. We walked downtown on several occasions. If asked, Daphne will even suggest numerous restaurants. We did dine at some she suggested...the food was very good. We brought our ShihTsu with us. He felt very much at home. Daphne had provided him with dog bowls and treats for our stay. Can't really say enough here...hope to return in the near future! We would definitely stay at this well maintained property again. Thanks Daphne!

Excellent, Beautiful place to stay!

Thank you Daphne I had a great birthday weekend! You will love this place! It is so fresh and clean! Two story town home with a beautiful garden yard for the dogs to play. Downstairs is a living area, with a flat screen tv, dining area then a full kitchen ...with a dishwasher, stovetop, oven, fridge with icemaker. Off to the side of that is an office nook. Wifi is great and cell service was too, I have At&t. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, about the same size, one has a tub the other a wonderful walk in shower, and walk in closets in both. A fulll size washer and dryer is also upstairs. This place was furnished beatifully and I cannot tell you how clean it was! The bed linens were excellent with egyptian cotton sheets and down comforters. Beds are so comfortable I felt like I was at home or even better. There are tv's in both bedrooms, a fire place, movies to watch and a drawer full of info of places to eat. We Stayed February 10th thru the 12th. There is a carraiage ride that was awesome. plantation homes to see and the battle ship tour was so interesting . We walked the strip down front street it was so much fun with all the shops and little cafes. The cotton exchange was also fun to visit with alll sorts of unique items for sale. I would suggest Elijahs , the Pilot house or The George to eat...they were all wonderful. We are big seafood eaters , so we ate seafood all weekend. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice, clean place to stay while visiting Wilmington. It was great and we hope to go back again in the spring or summer. The owner Daphne, was just great, she answered all of my questions very promptly and she was just a delight to rent from. Happy travels to all and I hope you choose this place over the chain hotels, it is so much more romantic and homey. I promise you you will not be disappointed!

Perfect Stay at the Italianate

Guest: KH (Outer Banks, NC)
Date of Stay: 02/03/12 Review Submitted: 03/02/12

Extremely clean, well-kept home located close to downtown. We decided to book this home with very short-notice and Daphne was very helpful in accomodating us (and our dog). Photos of home definitely reflect the home's appearance. I felt comfortable walking in the neighborhood, even at night, and enjoyed looking at all the other beautiful homes! We didn't need to use our car to get to restaurants - only a short, enjoyable walk away. Beds were very comfortable, and well-stocked kitchen! Loved the master bedroom shower!! Only one inaccuracy in amenities description (and the only reason we noticed is that we rented over Super Bowl Sunday) - tv is not a 42 inch flat screen, but a 32 inch screen. Certainly not a big deal, but it was a little smaller than we wanted for the game! Definitely would stay here again, and would recommend to all family and friends!

So we didn't intrude on the new parents we rented The Italianate. It was a short drive to see the new baby and only a few minutes walk to downtown and Christmas/baby shopping. The townhouse was immaculate, a great place to relax and reflect. Everything in this home has been done with class. A live Christmas tree complete with lights and decorations was a pleasant surprise. I'm always skeptical viewing pictures of rentals but the ones I saw on the web site were the reality! Wonderful place to stay!

Pleasantly surprised! We usually only stay at 5-star or Leading hotels in the cities we visit but Wilmington doesn't really ofer much in the way of hotels. The Italianate, with it's luxury linens and high-end amenities more than made up for the cities lack of hotels. We LOVED the location just down the mansion lined street everything the city has to offer is within easy walking distance. Daphne makes sure the home is comfortable and clean. She answers any questions immediately and is quick to respond with any needs that arise during your stay. We will definitely stay again. Thank you for offering such a lovely place to stay in Wilmington.

While building a home outside of Wilmington, we have stayed at MANY various (homes, hotels) places this year, and the Italiante property is the most outstanding, place by far. Daphne is extremely prompt, helpful and wonderful to work with. The house is beautiful, super clean, loaded with everything you could possibly need, and comfortable. The very beautiful, short walk to town allows you to enjoy the downtown area without having to drive, and find parking, etc. We are planning another visit next month and will look to stay here again. The house has off the street parking, with a great porch to sit on and enjoy the garden. Cannot say enough about this property.

I just returned home from my stay in the Italianate during the first week of November 2011. The location was perfect and easy to locate. The home itself was very nice and comfortable. The home looked exactly like the photos. This was by far one of the best places I have ever rented and I would stay there again. I can't wait to go back to Wilmington and to the Itlianate. The owner is very nice and very accomodating. Staying in this location allows you to have a true historical experience plus it is only about 15 minutes away from Wrightsville beach. I recommend taking a stroll along the Cape Fear river walk along Water street during the day and at night!

We just returned home after a short, but wonderful stay. I must say that we will be forever spoiled now that we've stayed at the Italianate! It is by far the best vacation rental property we've ever booked. So clean, comfy, and cozy! We stayed with our dogs and they enjoyed it as much as we did. This fenced-in yard was so nice just to let the dogs out for a quick break. Also, dog bowls and treats were provided. I can't say how much we enjoyed the location. Just a 10-15 minute walk to the shops and restaurant. Plus, the walks were so enjoyable. You can stroll along the river walk or through the beautiful neighborhood! Don't hesitate, book today! We can't wait to return!!!

We just returned from a 3 day girls' weekend and LOVED the Italianate. The condo was beautifully maintained and decorated, was located walking distance from all the shops and restaurants downtown. The condo has a great kitchenette, beautiful sitting area and even has a washer and dryer. Each room has its own bathroom, plus big closets. We LOVED our stay here and would stay here again, either with family or friends. Also - the owner was really lovely to deal with - thank you!!

We had the pleasure of staying at the Italianate for a three day weekend and the house was immaculate and well maintained. Everything was provided except beach towels and the house was within walking distance to everything you want to see downtown (and only 15 min or so to the beach!) I would definitely recommend staying at this house to anyone that wants to visit Wilmington!

The Italianate is a beautiful townhome in Historic Downtown Wilmington. While not a necessity, the home was tastefully decorated as well as functional (wonderfully soft Lacoste towels, everything you would need in the kitchen, a DVD player, etc) – which really helped us to relax. The location was perfect - an easy walk to all the restaurants and shops in Wilmington. This was my first time renting a place through VRBO and it was simple and efficient thanks to the owner, Daphne. Upon arriving, a bag of dog treats were left out for us, which was perfect as it kept the dog occupied while we unloaded. Our deposit was returned immediately - always appreciated. I have no complaints and would definitely stay here again and recommend to everyone.

Wonderful Home-away-from home!

Guest: Simone (Stanhope, NJ )
Date of Stay: 08/06/11 Review Submitted: 08/15/11

My husband and our 2 dogs stayed at the Italianate for a week while on vacation in Wilmington and had a wonderful time! The home had everything we needed for a comfortable stay; and it is bigger and even more beautiful than it appears in pictures. The home is walking distance from the fun shops downtown; we walked to town each day and along the way got to enjoy looking at the gorgeous historic homes that line the streets. The driveway to the home is safe and off of the street, and we enjoyed sitting on the porch while our dogs played in the fenced-in yard. The home-owner was great in responding to our calls and texts to each other - she was always easy to reach. I can't say enough good things about our stay - we will definitely be back! Side note - if you are bringing your dog, there is a dog park a few miles away (Empire Dog Park). We brought our hounds there twice a day and met some great people. This was one of the most relaxing vacations we have taken, and most of that was due to the fact that we had a wonderful place to stay that really felt like "home".

I stayed at the Italianate with 3 girlfriends while visiting Wilmington and we all LOVED it. It was clean, comfortable, spacious, walking distance to the downtown restaurants and bars yet far enough away to be quiet. It had everything we needed from parking to porch swings. Reserving and check-in was a breeze. I will definitely book here again if/when I visit Wilmington in the future!

Guest: Laney (Santa Monica, CA)
Date of Stay: 06/07/11 Review Submitted: 06/23/11

The Italianate was the perfect home away from home while vacationing in Wilmington. So much better than a hotel with two bedrooms and a full kitchen. The home was tastefully decorated, very clean, and spacious. My boyfriend and I stayed there for a week while visiting family. As a native Wilmingtonian, I knew this was the area I wanted us to stay in. The location is in historic downtown Wilmington on the Cape Fear River close to restaurants and shops. The listing photos were accurate and descriptive. Daphne was a joy to work with. She was very communicative and helpful. I would recommend the Italianate to anyone visiting the Wilmington area and I will most definitely stay at the Italianate anytime I am in Wilmington. We loved it; It's a stunning place and is highly recommended to all!

Couldn't ask for better

Guest: Jon (Ohio)
Date of Stay: 06/01/11 Review Submitted: 06/16/11

This is exactly as advertised except nicer than you're imagining it. Where to begin? Offstreet parking and being a rear-facing unit make the Italianate feel really private. Being a townhome I was worried about noise through the shared wall but I never hear a peep the whole week. The pictures shown are pretty accurate in terms of space of rooms, except they do not show the walk-in closets in each bedroom. The property was impeccably clean when we arrived and the A/C set to a welcoming temperature. All the appliances worked a-okay, I didn't think I'd use the washer & dryer but it turned out to be a big help. It's an easy walk (<5 minutes) to some great restaurants, shops, and bars on front street; I recommend the Dixie Grill for good diner-style breakfast, Dock Street Oyster bar for casual dining, and the Little Dipper for a nicer meal. Actually I recommend eating everything everywhere all the time as it is all delicious. The beaches are short drives, 20 minutes or less. Kure Beach was blissfully uncrowded, even on the weekend. And don't even get me started on Daphne - prompt and polite communication before, during, and after the stay (not something you should take for granted). She is a gracious and thoughtful host; even little details like bottles of water in the 'fridge for the road weary travelers my wife and I were made so much of a difference. So, stop reading this review. Contact Daphne and make a reservation - the Italianate is PERFECT for a couple, a couple couples, a family, or a group of friends. Oh, and it's crazy affordable.

Along with being so nice it is also incredibly accommodating -- it is stocked with great kitchen supplies (anything you would need to make a wonderful meal), soft towels/sheets, and it was a few blocks from the heart of Wilmington. Went to Wilmington to spend the Christmas holiday. The Italianate was perfect for myself, husband, sister & her husband. It was very much as described. The location was perfect! The townhouse had everything we needed and was just awesome! It was very clean, nicely decorated & very well maintained. The historical homes in the neighborhood were just beautiful! Shops & restaurants were a short walk. We especially enjoyed the Front Street Brewery. If you are a Steelers fan, Drifters on Walnut St. is the place for game day If we needed anything not offered in town, all types of stores & restuarants were a short drive. Daphne was great to deal with when booking the home. If I had any questions about our stay or about the house, she was very good about getting back to me with an answer. This is the perfect place to stay if you are spending any time in Wilmington! I can't imagine spending money on a hotel room when you could have all the comforts of home at the Italianate!

The kitchen was amenable to several cooks; the dining table sat 8 easily. Our dogs played happily outside. Downtown is walkable and has charming shops, restaurants, and bars. Neighbors were friendly----it was a wonderful trip. I loved this house!! The ower was wonderful---answered all questions, made sure all was perfect. I would highly recommend this property----and hope to be able to stay there again soon.

It is not uncommon to rent a wonderfully advertised place and arrive wondering what happened. Not here. It was exactly like the VRBO listing. The Townhome was located a few blocks from downtown, but in a quiet alley with privacy. We were greated with an immaculately clean and fresh home. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, flatware, pots and pans, and table linens as if it were your home. It all matched! We could have thrown a dinner party for 8 (and sometimes do). Bedding, sheets and towels were of hotel quality and I wondered if we were the first guests ever to stay. We would recommend this to any picky vacationer. Be careful with really small dogs. One of our 8lb pups found several places to get out of the fence, but then again, he is an escape artist. On top of it all, our security deposit was returned promptly. When returning to Wilmington, we will reserve this home. Dan, Tony, Mo (AKA Houdini) and Coal

All That and More!

I was excited when I found the listing for the Italianate. It was the perfect size and location, and the photos showed a beautifully appointed townhome. It was all that and more! The Italianate was immaculately clean, well-maintained, quiet, and the kitchen was very well-stocked. The beds were extremely comfortable, and linens and towels were plentiful. We enjoyed being able to leisurely stroll to downtown Wilmington and the riverwalk while enjoying the gorgeous homes along the way. Daphne was a pleasure to work with, as all her communications were timely and complete, and our security deposit was promptly refunded! Thanks for making our little getaway so perfect! We can't wait to return!

My husband and I stayed in the Italianate the weekend of our wedding and we had a fabulous time. The home is located just minutes from all of the hot spots downtown but is far enough away that you never get any of the noise. The home was beautifully decorated and it had all the amentities we needed for our first weekend as husband and wife. I would highly recommed this place to anyone looking for a charming get away in Wilmington. Thanks so much for everything!!!

We stayed for a week end of july with our 2 young boys. The house is amazingly clean, very well equipped, beautifully decorated with a lovely porch and swing. A stroll away, through the historic area, from the riverwalk and all the restaurants. We went to Wrightsville beach daily and on that one rainy day we had, it was just a pleasure to stay inside the Italianate. Thank you for an absolute wonderful stay! Till next tiem!

Excellent Stay

A beautiful condo right in downtown Wilmington. Easy walk to downtown shops, restaurants and tours. Has off street parking -- which is an added bonus and very quite condo. Enjoyed nights swinging on the swing on the back porch overlooking the garden area. The owners have decorated this condo beautifully, and have provided everything you need. You do not need to bring a thing but some food, toiletries and clothes. The owner was very accommodating and easy to work with. We will definitely stay here again and recommend to friends and family.

Owner response:Thank you so much! It was a pleasure having you as my guests.

Perfect Wilmington Getaway!

My husband, two year old son and I spent 4th of July weekend at this beautiful townhouse. The house is very nicely updated and tastefully decorated. It is a very short walk to downtown, but far enough away that it is very quiet and also offers off street parking. A few months ago we stayed on a downtown condo and the parking and noise were very problematic. The attached townhouse had two couples and and two dogs and we never heard anything. We greatly enjoyed walking downtown to go to breakfast, stroll along the river font, shop at the farmers market and watch the fireworks. We highly recommend the Italianate!

Highly recommended. The townhome is extraordinarily comfortable and outfitted with everything you could possibly need. Quality and attention to detail is everywhere. On one of the most charming and walkable streets in all of Wilmington. Don't think twice about this one.

The Italianate is a charming, comfortable townhome within walking distance to the Riverwalk and great restaurants. The property is spotlessly clean and has everything you could possibly need. I would definitely stay here again.

This townhome was beautiful, comfortable, and well equipped. It is very conveniently located within walking distance of most everything in the historic district and an easy drive to the beach. The small yard/garden area was very quaint and the covered porch and swing were an added bonus. We loved it and would stay here again.

One of the best equipped homes that we have stayed in with VRBO. Everything is top of the line. Great location, and has a wonderful porch with swing.
