Your visit to Madeline Island starts with a 2.3 mile ferry ride that truly disconnects you from the rest of the world. Our family cabin offers a quiet retreat from the town yet it's only 7 miles to the shops and more. Located on Big Bay, it is the most desired location on the Island for view complete with a sandy beach.
Big Bay State park is a mile away by water or road. Campfires are allowed on our beach for great evenings while swimming, fishing, water sports, sight seeing and more will fill your days. Huge northern pike lurk a 1/4 mile off our beach and the lagoon is a short row to fisherman's heaven. A real log cabin built by our ancestors in the '30s is part of your view. Don't forget your favorite reading materials and discover how to relax on Island time.
Must sees in town include the Museum, Indian grave yard, and much more. Also enjoy the great shopping found on both the Island and in Bayfield.
Entire home was remodel 2008- 09 and is fully equipped and ready for your family and friends.

The fires on the beach were my favorite. The weather was great, so we spent a lot of time outside on the beach. We had a colored rock contest, went canoeing, played volleyball on the beach and more. Norm was very accommodating and an excellent person to rent from!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

This is on private property and is quite sacred to the island. It is a bit disrespectful to a) go there, b) take photos, c) post them online.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/6

Hi Norm, We had a wonderful stay. THANKS for making your cabin available to us. A banner year for weather. Much sailing and beach time. We all got out in canoes on the lagoon / lake and boys caught several fish. Sand castles, beach fires, scrabble games, great walks and just time together. Does it get any better ? We thought your set up was perfect for our group size. Looking forward to next year and hope you continue renting. But maybe jut stay away from booking July 2011 for minute until we can get the whole crew coordinated again please ! I'd like to consider doing a full 2 weeks in 2011. Will be touch. We had 4 wonderful days at this cottage. We received good advice to grocery shop before coming to the island, as the choice is limited and expensive. The kitchen was very well-equipped, including basics like flour, sugar, etc. We were invited to a welcoming bonfire on the beach the first evening. We had 3 sunny days we spent exploring the island, canoeing, kayaking and on the beach. We had one rainy day where we made good use of the puzzles and piano in the cottage. These days on Madeline Island we will hold on to and remember through the long dark winter days in Norway.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/12
