Asheville Lookout is a beautiful custom-built chalet style home ideal for couples and small family groups of up to 10 guests. The Chalet is located in the Brushy mountains above the town of Swannanoa, 10 miles East of Asheville and 10 miles West of Black Mountain. Our view is of Three Brothers Mountain and the Bee Tree Valley below, with a horse farm and quaint white steepled church.
First Floor Master Bedroom: King Bed, flat screen TV, on-suite bath with multi-head "shower for two", private entrance to 4-person hot tub on the enclosed sun porch. Sleeps 2.
Second Floor East Bedroom: Queen Bed, spiral staircase to Upper Loft with single bed and full size futon. Sleeps 4-5.
Second Floor West Bedroom: Queen Bed, flat screen TV, baby crib and private deck with lounge chairs. Sleeps 2 (plus infant).
Loft overlooking Great Room: Full size futon, closet "Office" with WindowsXP computer, MS Office 2007, DSL Internet access and open SSID wireless access for your personal laptop. Sleeps 2.
The Great Room: Gas log fireplace, sitting area and dining area has a full southern view through the 16 foot sliding glass doors and 2 story glass wall. Direct TV, VCR, DVD and Stereo piped to Deck. The Kitchen has everything you will need to prepare your meals; large and small appliances, 2 china services for 12, crystal and daily use glassware, table linens and plenty of cutlery.
Relax and enjoy the outdoors on our 16x50 deck with a picnic table, gas grill, swing and lots of chairs. On the adjoining West Patio we have a table and four chairs with an umbrella for dining al fresco. When evening falls, roast marshmallows in the fire pit!
Hike up to the top of the mountain with your pet to enjoy the view of the Brushy Mountains and the Bee Tree Valley below. Wander down to the stream and enjoy the sight and sound of the water going over our little waterfall!
Enjoy our private mountain retreat while still close to the amenities of Black Mountain and Asheville. Restaurants, site-seeing and antiquing opportunities abound, and grocery shopping is just "down the mountain".
We are 3 miles from Warren Wilson College. Minutes away from Rockmont, Timberlake and MerriMac, RidgeCrest and the Billy Graham Conference Center.
If you are coming to Black Mountain to attend a wedding at Lake Eden, Hidden River or Montreat, the Chalet is within 10 miles of each of these venues.
A 4 wheel drive vehicle is not required to reach Asheville Lookout for most of the year; may be necessary for winter rentals. Security resident on-site, housekeeper and maintenance available.

Why the Owner Chose Black Mountain
We visited family who had moved here and just fell in love with the area. The pace is not too fast or too slow, and the diversity of attractions downtown is amazing. Even after 25 years, we still find new things to do!
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet
Our home is an "away from it all" mountain experience. Excellent daytime views and nighttime stars, cool mountain breezes and the sounds of birds and other wildlife. Hike the property to find the rhododendrum grove, discover wild flowers and patches of wild strawberries. Enjoy being "in the woods" while still close to Black Mountain and Asheville's restaurants, shopping and activities.
Warren Wilson College is located just 3 miles from the Chalet if you are visiting or attending a graduation.
RidgeCrest Conference Center, 201 E State Street, Black Mountain. 12 Miles from Asheville Lookout Chalet.
Lake Eden Weddings, Lake Eden Road, Black Mountain, NC is 7.5 miles from the Chalet, about a 20 minute drive.

We built our home in Swannanoa for our eventual retirement from Virginia. The chalet was constructed using the poplar trees on the property for the interior woodwork and stones off the mountain for the rock garden and walls. We hope that our guests enjoy our continuing efforts to landscape and beautify our retirement home!

A weekend visit is far too short to enjoy all of the beauty and comfort your wonderful house provides. While visiting the fun, quaint, neighborhood towns, we found ourselves rushing back to enjoy the view from the deck, the adorable waterfall and firepit. We spent each night under the moonlight on the upper deck. We couldn't have asked for more. Hope to come back soon -- thanks for a wonderful trip.

What an amazing house. You thought of everything! It was perfect in every aspect! Such a gorgeous view and not far from all of the sights. We had a great time at your lovely home. We really enjoyed our visit here in your lovely home. I regret that we never used the fire pit or the deck as much as we should have. This area holds so many attractions for us. We were up and down the Parkway, to the Biltmore, Chimney Rock, Black Mountain, Asheville, to the top of Mt. Mitchell and of course a daily trip to Ingles...oh, and the Folk Art Center. We would certainly recommend Asheville Lookout. The virtual tour was so helpful. We hope to return next year. It will be hard to leave tomorrow!

What a wonderful home! Our entire family thoroughly enjoyed its lovely appointments and the spectacular view. So private and spacious with many lovely touches. You've thought of everything! We were here for a very special wedding at Hidden River, so the location was ideal. And our dog definately enjoyed the outdoors!
