Peace & Quite in the heart of the White Mountains. Visit us once and you will come back every year as this is a very special place. Although we are secluded, you will have the option to take advantage of many different types of activities all within 30 minutes of the property. However, it is so beautiful and comfortable here you may never want to leave. Just let us know your needs and we will be happy to accommodate.
Wildlife viewing is fantastic on our lake. Loons come here to mate every year and they will serenade you to sleep every night from May through October. If you've seen the pictures, they speak for themselves as to the natural beauty of the area but as relates wildlife...I find that all one needs to do, is to sit down anywhere outside or on the porch, be quiet and alert, something is bound to happen and you never know what. Maybe, a Great Blue Heron flapping its' wings above you, a beaver slapping his tail or felling a tree, an eagle or osprey diving for fish, moose splashing on the shore line, a pilliated woodpecker in a nearby tree, coyotes and owls howling and hooting at night..... then there are the other night time critter noises that you can't figure what made them, spooky, and of course, the constant of the loons. Ask Peter about the secret local spots, although you'll be sworn to secrecy, he'll take you or tell how to get there.
We have tons of hiking opportunities for all levels of hiker. Go to Mack Hill and look down on the lakes, walk up to Province pond and have lunch at the shelter, climb Kearsarge Mountain and enjoy the views from the fire tower, visit Shelter Pond via the Weeks Brook trail, climb Baldface Mountain and look west at Mount Washington and the Presidentials, etc, etc, etc.
Our lake (1 mile long by 1/2 mile wide) has been written about in local news papers as being a wonderful spot to canoe and kayak, the paddling is great. There are only about 10 other homes on the lake so there won't be a lot of noisy neighbors to deal with. The lake is full of Bass and Pickerel and the local streams are full of trout. Our town has many hiking trails to explore.
The Cottage was built in 1933 and is about 800 square feet, consisting of a master bedroom with a french door opening up to the lake and mountains, a second bedroom with a bunk bed set, full kitchen, fireplaced living room, small bathroom and large screened in porch overlooking the lake and mountains. Contact me for more pictures of the house.
If you wish, Peter and Deb will be available to help you plan your activities. We endeavor to make your stay memorable.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Peter & Deb
