A weekend with rain and sun (!!!) and a perfect place to getaway and relax. The property is as described and photographed in the listing. The bed in the Master was comfy and warm. The kitchen was very well supplied- best of any VRBO that we've experienced. The cottage was clean and bright and homey. Although we didn't use it, the fact that there was a hairdryer in the bathroom shows that the owners are interested in the guests conveniences and comforts. Enjoyed the fireplace and the DVD player. We walked to the restaurant at the Navy station for breakfast one morning after a walk on the nearby beach. You really get the feel for the small beach town with the clam diggers on the beach and at the restaurant! We would recommend to others and will keep on the top of the list for future visits to the area.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a wonderful time at the Sand Bucket cottage last weekend! The cottage looks exactly like the photos and is very cozy and comfortable. The kitchen was outstanding with everything we needed to stay in and cook almost every night. The beds were super comfortable and our daughter enjoyed having the choice of two different beds :) The location is not on the beach, but very close so we could easily walk or drive down within minutes. We also really appreciated the friendly neighbors who helped in jumping our car and letting us use their phone when the car battery died unexpectedly. Overall a great relaxing getaway!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.
Owner response: We are glad you enjoyed the kitchen and comfortable beds. The Sand Bucket cottage is a perfect gettaway for those looking for all the amenities of home, in a beachy style. It's not ocean front, but provides good beach access (300 yards away) but is priced to allow for those looking for superior quality without the cost. We do have another ocean front cottage for those wishing for that aspect. We are sorry to hear about your car trouble, glad our very nice neighbors helped you resolve the issue.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sand Bucket Cottage. It was extremely clean and represented itself very well in the pictures that are posted on the internet. The cottage had all the amenities of a regular house so we didn't have to bring anything. One set back of our adventure is that the fireplace did not work. We contacted the house keeper, and she said that the previous renters had an issue with the fire- place not working. I am not sure how long the house went without a renter before we got there, but some sort of maintenance should have been done to it. Considering it was October, cold and rainy, that was a highlight that we were looking forward to, so we were a bit disappointed. I would recommend the cottage to others. We have talked about maybe returning again, perhaps in the summer so we truly enjoy the experience. It was fun seeing the razor clam diggers. We enjoyed our trip upto Lake Quinalt and the rain forest. We also stopped by the Quinalt Casino for a bit. We walked the beach and resembled a couple of drowned rats when we returned to the cottage. Thank God for the dryer!! Pacific Beach was not exactly a happening place in mid-October, but I am pretty sure there is a lot to do in the Summer. All in all, we enjoyed ourselves and enjoyed a very nice experience at the Sand Bucket.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are glad you enjoyed the amenities of the cottage as well as some of the areas activities. Our apologies that the gas fire was not working for you, it is the first time we have had an issue, somebody had turned off the master shut off switch, rest assured we resolved the issue swiftly. We hope to see you return in the future.

we had a great time in this clean, spacious, tastefully designed cottage. We loved that we were not in the downtown of Pacific Beach, but close enough to ride our bikes or walk to town to get to the beach, store and coffee shops. Emily and Rob have put much love into this place and thought of everything you'd need. Perfect for a family or a couple to get away and relax. We lucked out with incredible mid-Sept weather of clear skies and 68 degrees! We will definitely be back at some point.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

Our family stayed 3 nights here. Two adults, one 9 year old and a 3 month old. We also brought our son's therapy dog. Very family friendly house. The proximity to the beach cannot be beat. We used the gas grill two nights, very handy. Clean and well maintained. Lots of extra blankets, plenty of dishes, movies and games. Having washer/dryer very handy. I would recommend this for a single family rental. We spent our daylight hours at the beach, so cannot recommend any in town amenities. Beautiful sunny weather for our entire stay.Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners.

We were comfortable staying at this cottage. We loved the 2 decks, one off the bedroom and one by the front door. One of the guys stayed in a tent on the front deck and loved it. The kitchen was clean and stocked with all the necessities. We would love to return in the winter during storm season.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband and I were very surprised at how nice the house was staged. The lights were on ready to welcome us. We loved the fact everything we might need was provided. Too bad we didn't bring groceries!! The house was clean, the bed was VERY comfotable, the water hot and loved the phone didn't ring for two days. The cable was nice too so we could watch for weather and catch-up on the daily news. The beach was nice and close, so we walked the beach and my husband even found a glass float from Japan! Great time had by both of us and our dog CoCo. The owners were very easy to work with. We do plan to rent at this location again. *The photo doesn't show how cute this place really is!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is a clean and comfortable cottage and very well equipped for a relaxing stay. We spend hours on the beach with our 2 year old and our dog in December. The weather could not have been better but even if it hadn't, we would have been very comfortable and entertained inside the cottage. I can't imagine how wonderful it would be here in the summer. Our 2 year old immediately felt at home and everything we needed for her was there.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We took our dogs with us for a little getaway and it was a lot of fun! The cottage is very cute and well stocked. The owners thought of everything including towels specifically for the dogs to clean off the sand from their fur. The beach is close by with easy access and the little town has a darling coffee shop and home decor store that I visited every day! Close by is the town of Seabrook and we went there for lunch at Mill 109 (excellent restaurant) and we're also history buffs so we visited the Moclips Nautical Museum (only 2 miles away). The remainder of our time was reading books from the cottage's library and watching movies. It was a lot of fun and we'd definitely do it again.Did you find this review helpful? My husband and 13 month old stayed here last weekend and loved it. The cottage has great finishes. The cottage is beach chic, clean and comfy. The pictures are accurate. You can hear the roar of the waves on the front deck. It's a great place to stay and we will be back! A heads up on the town.... I would stop and get groceries in Aberdeen. There is not much with regards to grocery stores or kid friendly restaurants in Pacific Beach. There is a great little coffee shop though and the beach is incredible!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We pretty regularly stay out at the WA and OR coast when we head out clamming for the weekend and have to say this spot is a perfect gem. Just tucked outside of downtown Pacific Beach, this is the perfect spot for two couples or a small family to get away. The owner was very responsive to questions and gave us great recommendations on where to find seafood, groceries, etc. This newly renovated bungalow was pristine inside, had everything you would need, clearly well cared for, and walking distance to town. Happily would return here again - loved it!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners.
Owner response: We are so pleased that you had a great weekend, and appreciate the kind words. We hope that you think of us the next time you head to the coast.

Thank you for continuing to share cozy retreat again. We love the additions you’ve made and are looking for to a return this winter to try out the stove. This year we increased in ranks in family so we comfortably fed 26 people here for dinner in your cottage. And we didn’t even need the back deck! Thank you for making our family dinners a bit more bearable otherwise we would be elbow to elbow, sharing dinners from one another’s plates. Sadly we didn’t stay as long as last year, so we didn’t explore as much. And the sunshine from 11am till sunset on Sunday ensured we left here with plenty of souvenir bottles of Advils and Aloe ?Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a lovely five days at your cozy cottage. We had everything we needed for a great relaxing stay. Although it rained it only did so at night. We had several days sunbathing on your deck and walking along the beach. We saw eagles, hummingbirds and more just from your deck. A trip to Lake Quinault was well worth the drive; being Brits we really enjoyed the fish and chips in the restaurant there. Sadly, off home tomorrow, so thank you for all the care you have put into your sandcastle we have lots of pics and lots of memories of Pacific Beach.Did you find this review helpful?
