If you are looking for peace and seclusion this is the place for you. The house is not overlooked in any way, with a private road, it is the perfect place to unwind. There is an abundance of local wildlife including deer, elk, eagles, osprey and even the odd wolf!
The house is fully equipped with all conveniences including a beautiful lounge with custom made furniture and leather sofas, a den featuring a 50" plasma and DVD, fully equipped kitchen with granite work surfaces, a screen room, wrap around deck with plumbed BBQ and seating for 8, and two fireplaces to warm up in front of after a days skiing or hiking.
There is a lot of great activities on the door step including fishing in the lake(s), Bull or Elk Rivers; hiking; biking; ATV-ing, horse riding, golfing (multiple quality courses within 40 mins drive), skiing, snowmobiling, and boating. The 40 acres connects directly to crown land and there are literally 1000's of acres of forest with a labyrinth of trails and old logging roads to explore.
The house is really on accessed via a 4x4 - the driveway is steep and bumpy. The property really is a very quiet and secluded - for people that want easy access to shops and amenities this is not for you.
Note: The Koocanusa is a resvoir and water levels do fluctuate - normally the water level is high from July - September. 2009 the water levels have been low in June and July but predicted to be increase through August (being at it is highest end of August - September).

Perfect Custom Log Lodge on Lake Koocanusa
Year Purchased: 2004
Why the Owner Chose Fernie
Our house and its position looking down the lake is a one of a kind. Sitting on the decking looking down the lake, watching the eagles and osprey fly by, and watching the deer graze on our lawn is the ultimate unwind.
When we need to do something all the pleasures of the great outdoors are literally on our door step. We can quad, boat, fish, hike, swim, ski, golf, kayak, etc. all from where we are.
With two great ski resorts near by and miles (and miles) of deserted logging trails at a stones through the winters here are great!
When we bought this place we'd just spent 18 months travelling around the world Asia, Australia, Newzealand, you name it...when we found this place it was a pretty easy decision on where are long term aspirations where.
The Unique Benefits at this Lodge
Peace, relaxation, wildlife, the outdoors, whilst being in a lovely custom log home with all the creature comforts one could ask for.
Owner's Map of Fernie
Hi, We live in the UK and discovered the Koocanusa area in the spring of 2003 whilst taking an extended a ski season in Fernie. Myself (Tim) and my wife (Julie) thought that this was one of the most fantastic area we'd been to and thought we'd could be happy here. After having a few beers with the locals at at the Bull River, at we met someone who'd sell us some land with 'amazing view'. Since then we've spent the last 4 years developing the land (water, power, etc.) and building our lovely log home. This won't be a vacation rental for us for ever as we hope to be there very soon.
