The house sits right next to the Higueron River, which allows for perfect wildlife watching right from the leisure of the deck, bedroom or living room. At dry season, you can also hike up the river or down to the ocean.
Pick your breakfast from the own exotic fruit featuring banana, mango, lemon, orange, avocado and guava trees or start your day with a peaceful Yoga session by the pool. We enjoyed the location, if you enjoy birds it is great to wake up to them every morning. We enjoyed the activities available in the area, the Uvita Information Center was helpful. We kayaked, surfed, canyonering, zipline, took a trip to Corcovado and relaxed. As a family it was nice to spread out between the hamocks, the pool area and the living area. It is a very basic accomodation, don't expect much of the kitchen. I wouldn't be good for families with small children. No kitchen table, only bar with three stools. The guest house worked out great for my teenage son. My daughter used the loft and found it hot with the mosquito netting and preferred to sleep on the couch. They could charge a few more dollars and provide the basics such as toilet paper, dishwashing soap, salt and pepper. Do know to leave the property you will need a vehicle, four wheel drive if it has rained recenlty, or will rain. The caretaker kept the place nice, was helpful, but you will need to speak spanish to communicate.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The river house and its surroundings are pure paradise! i stayed there with a friend for 10 days in January 2009 and left with tears in my eyes, because we just did not want to leave this magical spot. dipping in the saltwater pool, relaxing at the pool house or in one of the hammocks on the deck, listening to the howler monkeys in the morning and making friends with the owner's lovely dogs and cat. it's close to everything (bank, supermarket, doctor, restaurants, beach, national parks) and yet far far away... nature and peace surround you. i will return in april/may 2009 and am already counting the days!
