Torn on the 3 star rating
I want to clarify that if my review was for the owner or just the complex I would be giving a 5 star review. However, because the review is also for the unit we stayed in, I can only give it 3 stars. Starting with the good: Communication with the owner was great. From the first email through calling him only days before our arrival date, John was nothing but a pleasure to deal with. Destin Pointe as a whole was VERY nice. The swimming pool by the beach access has been renovated and is much nicer than the pool that is directly behind the Magnolia House. There is a tram on site that operates daily between 10:00am and 6:00pm. During those hours, it is very convenient to use; however, it would be nice if it started a little earlier. Destin Pointe is also in a great location. Only a few minutes from the busy highway, it is far enough away to miss all the traffic but still close enough to be convenient. The grounds are well kept and it was nice to have a "guard" checking for parking passes as vehicles entered. The not so good: We knew from the pictures of the unit that it wasn't really "up-dated" as provided in the description. If by "up-dated" you think of more 1990's decor than sure. But otherwise, I definitely wouldn't describe it as up-dated. The kitchen appeared to be the original from when the unit was built so it also had not been up-dated. Again, we knew that from the pictures but just want to stress that for future guests. The bad: This unit was DIRTY; and not the dirty like it hadn't been cleaned. I mean the carpets were GROSS and need replaced. We could physically see the black wear path on the carpet in the living room. This of course was after we let our 11 month girl crawl around after being the car for 16+ hours. When we picked her up after only 10 minuntes, the knees on her pants were black from the dirt. Again, this was after 10 mintues! This also applied to our feet when walking barefoot. Look at the bottom of your feet after walking barefoot in this unit and they will be filthy. I had read previous reviews that the unit was not "child friendly" due to the decor. I don't agree with that. The unit was fine if you keep an eye on your little ones. But after seeing the condition of the carpet I would say it is not child friendly due to the cleanliness. We will stay at this complex again but NOT in this unit. For only $10/day more, there are truly renovated units in this complex. We will be using one of those next!

Owner response: It sounds as though your major issue, the carpet was just one call away from being corrected. Had you brought it to my attention, I would have been happy to have the carpet "dry cleaned". This is a procedure used during the peak guest season. It could have been scheduled when you and your family were away so as not to inconvenience you, and I feel certain it would have satisfied your needs. The problem is - you didn't call me so I couldn't know that you were disatisfied. We both know that no expense has been saved to up-date this unit, from the new linens & towels to the new kitchen appliances and new flat screen electronics. Our cabinets, in use by most owners in the building were made of quality materials, still function well and are aesthetically pleasing to most. I'm sorry for your disappointment, but a complaint after your visit certainly doesn't give us the opportunity to make it right.
Our stay in Destin is on the start of the busy season. But Holiday Isle is the place to stay. Our Room was perfect. Very nice condo in a great location. The condo has a qeit pool area if you do not want to walk over the dune to the gulf. If you dont want ot walk - call the shuttle downstairs - and in a minute - here the guy comes - very nice. looking forward to returning.

The unit was more spacious than any other one-bedroom condo we've stayed in and was very comfortable and clean. The Destin Pointe development is super-nice! We loved that our balcony looked westward toward beautiful (and easily accessible) dunes, the jetty and the gulf -- plus a scenic short walk across a nature preserve led to that gorgeous Destin beach, complete with beach chairs and umbrella included in the rental price. There's a tram available during the high season, but we wouldn't miss the stroll. There were plenty of restaurants within an easy drive. The owners were very easy to deal with. We hope to return!

So relaxing, great view, great hosts!
So relaxing, great view, great hosts!
I visited Destin for the first time this past September. I had always heard wonderful things about the area, and let me say it lived up to its reputation! The beach was awesome, and John and Sharon were wonderful to work with. From start to finish - booking was easy, and their condo had everything needed. We event met some of their neighbors while at the pool, and everyone was so friendly. The neighborhood was quaint, the beach service great, and the location was super. This time of year was so pleasant, the beach was perfect, restaurants & boutiques weren't over crowded, and again, coming home to a safe, guarded condo complex made the trip just perfect. For the price and what we got - I know I'll be back!

We just returned from 10 days at this wonderful condo. My wife and I have been visiting Destin in October for many years and have finally found the place we want to come back to. Clean, comfortable, quiet with a million dollar view. The owners were a pleasure to deal with. Just go, you'll love it.

My husband and I stayed in Magnolia House 306 in June of this year. We have been married 9 months, so this was our summer vacation/second honeymoon. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay or better owners to work with. John was very friendly and helpful. He did all he could to make our vacation that much more enjoyable. The pictures online didn't do the views justice. We spent most of our time on the balcony watching the sunset and boats come in and out. The guys at the beach that helped with our beach service were very friendly. Destin Pointe is a beautiful neighborhood as well. This was our first time in Destin, and we can't wait to go back, hopefully to this condo. Would definately recommend this to anyone!

Very nice, but a few things needed
Very nice, but a few things needed
We just got back from a 5 night stay at Destin Pointe 306. I have to say that John, the owner, was more than friendly and helpful He was a very pleasant person to work with. The location was great. The bbq grills are literally just below your balcony, so I was able to talk to my wife and daughters as I grilled by the pool. I also loved that the beach tram was so quick. The fact that they also have a pool right by the beach gave us so many options with a 5 year old and a 1 1/2 year old. I didn't find the pull-out bed as uncomfortable as a previous reviewer. Things that could be improved were: having proper coffee mugs and more dishes. We seemed to be washing dishes constantly. And the dishwasher is extremely loud. There weren't many heavy utensils for bbq-ing, either. As far as the beach service, one day they had "run out" of chairs/umbrellas, but they accommodated us in an "owners set" with the idea that we may have to move. Luckily, we didn't, but that was a bit off-putting. Also, this isn't the most kid-friendly unit (and, in fairness, it was never advertised that way). But glass coffee tables, end tables and dining tables make me nervous with 2 active children. All in all, it was a nice unit in a great location. To provide some perspective, we stayed a 6th night at Sandestin Resort, and that was HORRIBLE. Lines of umbrellas 8 deep on the beach, a 25 minute tram ride to the beach, and lousy pools. That 6th night we longed to be back at Destin pointe 306. We would book again, but hope the next time we will find more utensils and a more user friendly kitchen. Couldn't have found a nicer person to work with.

Owner response: Thanks for your positive comments Jim. Its good to know that the beach attendants took the extra steps to make sure you were accomodated during such a busy time. An inventory will be done right away, and we will add the items you mentioned might be needed. We have always used upscale furnishings in our unit which is often visited by families and have never had any issues. Our policy is to ask our guests for their feedback so we can continue to provide the best of accomodations and amenities, so we greatly appreciate your comments. Thanks again. John & Sharon
The Magnolia House is situated in Destin Pointe . Very well maintained and pristine . Workers were trimming bushes , edging ,cleaning ect every morning . Situated were you can see the East Pass were all the boats go out to the Gulf and also just past that you view the beuatiful Gulf . Very accessible to the beach and there is a trolly there to take you if you do not want to walk . The condo we stayed in was very clean , neat and had many household items to get by for the week . Will definatly stay there again . Has a nice balcony / deck . Close to the Jetty's were there is excellent snorkeling . Also had 2 pools if you did not want to get sandy , grills to use that were in good shape . I used them to grill lots of seafood especially the shrimp . Seafood markets are great !!! Will return

Kids had a fantastic time, as well as the adults! Condo is located in a great community. Very quiet, clean, and beautiful area. Beachside pool is an awesome amenity. The beach was pristine and full of many different types of seashells which our family loves to search for.

We more than enjoyed our stay at the Magnolia House! What a beautiful condo with all the necessary amenities and an outstanding view of the bay. The staff at the Magnolia House were most accomodating and the convenience of the cart ride to the beach was a lifesaver!! We plan to return again next year for sure.
