This construction I built as my dream home after watching the movie "Shirley Valentine," which I named "Villa Valentine 2004" in honor of my dream having a home where the movie was made. Truly, the home is built on the exclusive hill above the famous sunset scenes used in the movie, and my home is just above the famous Greek Metaxa liquor owners collage of homes. The front, gated entrance of "Villa Valentine" has an ample manicured yard of cacti, oleander, bougainvillea, gardenias, geraniums, and fragrant lavender and albororiza (lemon) bushes. The expansive entrance courtyard is paved with typical Greek flat stones and could park 15 cars comfortably. Along the front edge of one of the walls surrounding the home is a custom-made whitewashed sunset terrace built for 4 facing the best sunsets of the Aegean. There is a gated back entrance also with ample area for 15 cars, with Mykonian white stones, barbecue, and back entrance to the kitchen, guest room, and roof terrace.
As a typical Mykonian home, everything is white and blue, including the inside decor. The home features a complete kitchen. The adjacent living room has a real wood-burning fireplace and custom-built-in sofas and cushions. In the center is a table I designed displaying samples of various types of sand from the 20 different beaches of Mykonos. Between these two areas is a full bathroom with Mykonian built-in shower and some of my kite artwork. The whitewashed wood spiral staircase leads you downstairs to a large office area with wireless internet (Greek service permitting), master bedroom, an additional full bathroom with Mykonian built-in shower, and full screening room. The master bedroom is an experience in white, from the ceiling to the four-poster custom-made wooden bed made with Greek local chestnut wood. The screening room is built Hollywood-style, with navy sea-color ceiling, walls, and trim, red velvet sofa which comfortably sleeps an additional person, and full-size flat screen TV for DVD only, with an ample international DVD library adjacent. The office area leads outside to an additional wind-protected downstairs terrace with outdoor furniture, plants, and crystal and rock art. Upstairs at the main entrance, an additional verandah holds large tables with seating for 6. Next to, and attached to, the main house is the guest bedroom which offers everything new, clean, white, and luxurious. A day-bed sofa instantly turns into a double bed at the touch of a button. A small desk and two large cupboards store clothes and luggage. The tiny but bright bathroom offers all amenities of a luxurious hotel including hair dryer. Most amazingly, the back door of the quaint guest room opens to a completely custom-designed outdoor shower snuggled into rocks with space for four. The custom-designed rock wall ensures privacy at all times. An additional rooftop terrace offers two separate areas, built-in sofas and cushions, sun beds, and the highest spot on this end of the island for catching a private or private party sunset.
Your rate includes: full-time gardener included and once weekly maid service before you arrive. If you desire maid service DURING your stay, this is available at $75 per cleaning.
See the movie "Shirley Valentine" before visiting so you understand where the property is located, the feel of the island, and the magic of the sun. This property has the same sunset views seen in the movie and is located where the movie was filmed, just ABOVE that area so the view is even more spectacular!
The Contract Agreement: Upon booking, a file will be emailed to you with all pertinent information about the Villa. This file also contains information regarding what to do in the area. Cancellation and Payment Policy: Just like the airlines, when booking, payment is required. Cancellations over 60 days hold no penalty; Cancellations under 60 days lose payment. We honor proof of any emergency that would be honored by airlines (documented death of immediate family member or documented hospitalization).
