This delightful and captivating two-story Caribbean-style beach cottage is located in a secure and gated community and sits high on a hill overlooking a huge expanse of Pacific Ocean. It's a casual "beachy" house…perfect for a small family or couple wanting to get away and just relax. The kind of house where it's okay if you track a bit of sand in after a fun-filled day on the beach, yet nice enough for a lovely evening of entertaining. By the way, the beach, pools, tennis courts, and park is a two minute golf cart ride away, and the golf cart is included in the rental.
Painted throughout in soothing sea glass colors, the house immediately imparts an air of tranquility and serenity to its guests. The huge great room contains two big comfy Pottery Barn couches just waiting for you to sink into their downy softness, as well as a separate seating area containing a pair of lovely old antique wooden deck chairs salvaged from a 1920's cruising vessel. Original and colorful paintings and art work enhance the walls. The room has a unique open beamed ceiling, hardwood floors, a lovely old wood burning fireplace flanked by antique hand painted tiles, and nearly twenty feet of French doors opening onto the deck. Leave the doors open during your stay and the soft ocean breezes will infuse the house with the scent of summer! There is a large inside dining table as well as dining on the deck, both of which provide incredible ocean views and entice you into becoming lost in our amazing sunsets! The house was built in 1931, and has been modernized and retrofitted to specifically maintain the integrity of the original cottage-style appeal of a bygone era, while still conforming to today's codes and requirements.
Also on the ground level is the modernized kitchen, a laundry room, two bedrooms and a bath. The master bedroom with a Queen "comfort select sleep number bed" has French Doors which open onto the deck overlooking the ocean, two overly large closets, and an oversized built in armoire/entertainment center. The second bedroom overlooks the picturesque front patio filled with fruit trees, and is furnished with a bunk bed…double on the bottom, single on the top. Great for kids! Plantation shutters can be found throughout the house.
Downstairs another bedroom awaits, with twin beds and it's own bathroom, which is decorated with beautiful Mexican tiles. No tub…shower only. The bedroom has tiled floors, two large closets and its own entertainment armoire with TV, DVD player, etc. Although this downstairs area is definitely part of the house, it can also be entered through a separate outside doorway. Therefore, if desired, it can be made into private sleeping quarters by closing off the door at the top of the stairs, which makes it an ideal area for visiting guests, in-laws, or live in help who may wish to come and go on their own.
