Why the Owner Chose Ogunquit
Ogunquit means "beautiful place by the sea" in the language of the Native Americans who summered there in pre-Colonial times. Nestled on the southern Maine coast between York and Wells, Ogunquit has long appealed to artists for the beauty of its coastline. Artists discovered Ogunquit's inspirational scenery over a century ago, transforming the quaint fishing hamlet into one of the most picturesque and enjoyed seaside villages in all of Maine, and even New England. A wide array of art galleries, antique shops, fine restaurants, world-class beaches, and the magnificent coastline attract visitors from around the globe.
Ogunquit offers the perfect summer in Maine Vacation. The beaches go for miles with beautiful white sand and natural dunes. The Ogunquit trolleys can easily take you from the beaches to Perkins Cove or the center of town. Ogunquit is known for its restaurants (from casual lobster dinners to 5 star dining) and professional theater at the Ogunquit Playhouse. This summer the Playhouse is offering a chorus line, The Mod Musical Shout!, Guys and Dolls, Singing in the Rain, and All Shook Up The New Broadway Musical --All Elvis Hits. The village of Ogunquit has shops, museums, antiquing, ice cream, dancing and nightlife. There is a 1 mile paved walk winding its way along the coast from town to Perkins Cove.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Besides the beauty of Ogunquit and its Beaches. It is only a 1.5 hour drive from Boston, 2.5 hour from Mohegan Sun CT., 5 hour drive from New York City and a 5.5 hour drive from Montreal. While in Ogunquit a person can enjoy the quietness of the country setting of Maine, the ocean setting of the Coast of Maine, the mountains of Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont just hours away or the city life of Boston, New York or even Montreal...just a drive away.
Main Beach, also called Ogunquit Beach, is a long stretch of white sandy beach. Rated in the "top 10 beaches in the U.S.", Ogunquit Beach runs along the coastline for three miles.
Millions of visitors have walked the Marginal Way, a scenic cliff-walk that meanders along the ocean for over a mile. Take a stroll past the perfectly manicured Ogunquit oceanfront properties.
The Maine coastline is the longest coastline in the U.S. if stretched out. Viewing the coastline by boat is the perfect way to see the oceanfront homes high atop Maine's numerous cliffs in Ogunquit.
Originally a small fishing community, the Cove is a quaint area that consists of shops, restaurants and scenic outlooks.
This small museum has an impressive collection of modern American art.
