Every single day for a week, this was a home for our family. Everyone loved hanging out in the kitchen and relaxing on the screen porch. Thank you for opening such a perfect vacation property in the perfect location.

Lela's was a perfect location for our girls' getaway trip! We kept oohing and ahhing about all the special features and beautiful extra special touches. The kitchen was very well stocked. And the house was large enough for us to spread out into different areas for napping/reading or to come together for coffee and chitchat. We especially loved the screened porch. One of the best aspects of this property is that it is located on a fairly quiet side street, but it is so convenient to walk to restaurants, shops, the harbor. We loved brunch at Dajio's (creme brulee french toast to die for!) and the Flying Melon (sweet potato pancakes), incredible burgers at SMacNally's while watching a fishing boat come in, excellent dinners at The Back Porch restaurant and Cafe Atlantic. We rented bikes for the week and enjoyed riding to the beach and all around the island. The walk out to Springer's Point was great just prior to sunset. And the Ghost Walk provided by Amy Howard provided a very interesting perspective on early days on Ocracoke as well as a few spine tingling tales! Unfortunately, one of the 'girls' slipped sideways on a shop step and had to visit the Health Clinic; they dealt with her injury very quickly and even provided a set of crutches for the rest of the week (telling us to just leave them on the side porch before we left the island). We had to make a trip to the hospital in Nags Head for an x-ray; it's unfortunate that this capability doesn't exist on the island. We kept remarking how friendly everyone seemed to be, which isn't always the case in most tourist destinations. I felt like we really were living for the week in a village, not a tourist spot; this is one of the things that I think makes Ocracoke so special. I should also mention how helpful Donna was with the reservation process and responding to questions. I haven't rented via VRBO very often, but she made everything very easy. You seem to have thought of everything a visitor might need - and that was very much appreciated! I own a rental beach house at Sunset Beach and I look for the little things that can make a difference to renters, and you seem to have all the bases covered at Lela's! We'll definitely come back - and I've already mentioned Lela's to other friends who travel to Ocracoke.

We came from NC and Ohio to live in this wonderful house! We rented bikes to sight-see this beautiful island you live on. Our stay was peaceful.... This house was so awesome. When can we come stay again? We have had a special, relaxing trip. It was an honor to come here. We were right at home. I'd like to take it all home with me! We joked about the "talented dryer/washer." This house is a pleasure. I can't even stop listing deatils I found delightful here. You also have a wonderful selection of movies and books. It warms my heart to think of this residence. It's so roomy and quiet, too!

Waht an absolute delight to stay in this beautifully refurbished Howard Street residence. We appreciate the diligent and detailed work and thought that resulted in this residence. Our two weeks on Ocracoke have been very special, just as is this house.

Ammenities were fabulous, as is the island. Lots to do and see & keep in our memories. We all had a really good time, but ran out of time to do all the things that we wanted.

We've had a wonderful, relaxing stay in this beautiful home. There are so many quiet spaces in this home. We loved all the architectural details & use of warm colors. Howard Street is very quiet. My 12 year old daughter would love to take the church bells home with her; I'll take the porch! These cherry floors are just beautiful. Perhaps you could put together an album of the huse's history & transformation.
