Heaven's Gate was wonderful. The home was all updated and beautiful. Views from the porch were amazing both during the day and night. The location was perfect,getting to Yosemite and Bass Lake was so easy. The owners are very attentive which I find extremely important. We plan on going back to Yosemite and without a doubt would stay at Heaven's Gate.

Perfect Family Vacation Retreat!

Simply amazing! Our family of 8 had a fantastic vacation staying in Heaven's Gate. The house is phenomenal. Returning to Heaven's Gate after seeing the wondrous sights of Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks was the perfect end to a superb day. Easy access to town as well as all of the beautiful sights, but out away from the bustle of traffic. The kids loved the game room and hiking on the property. The amenities in the house are superb. The owner made everything from the registration to check in easy. The name fits the house, as well as the area. We cannot wait to return to Heaven's Gate, and most definitely will very soon!

Fantastic and beautiful vacation rental

We are a family of 2 adults and 4 children (between ages 9 and 2 years). We stayed here in early spring and were delighted with this property. We would gladly stay here again. The house is modern and clean (the photos do not do it justice). The house is about 10 minutes drive from town. It is extremely spacious both inside and outside, with so many indoor and outdoor activities for all the kids ages that we never got them all done (including air hockey, table tennis, videos, board games, books, etc.). The kitchen was well stocked, clean and had everything and the showers had amazing water pressure! There is a fantastic atmosphere around the beautiful stone wood fireplace in the lounge. However our favourite spot was the wrap around deck for warm sunny breakfasts and watching the sunset and lights of town at night. The only problem was that we wanted to extend our stay and it was already booked out!

Perfect. We loved the house. It's beautifully remodelled and indeed luxurious but at the same time very comfortable. The views are beautiful and it is unbelievably quiet and peaceful. We watched deer wandering and lounging on the lawn, took a "must do" walk around the perimeter and through the property. Much bigger than I thought. It felt like I was alone in the world. Spotted wild turkeys and found the brook and beautiul rock outcroppings. Didn't want to leave. We will be back. Thank you for sharing your home.

Heaven's Gate = Heaven on Earth! Greatest place to stay in the area

My wife and I stayed with another couple, a friend and 5 kids and we rarely saw the kids. The views are incredible from the HUGE patio. We had our coffee there on the patio on Saturday morning and it was like heaven. Sunday and Lars did an excellent job remodeling the place. The European-style shower faucet brought our hearts back to our last trip to Liechtenstein. Awesome television w/ satellite and a nice video library. The beds are EXTREMELY comfortable. Truly heavenly! We took a walk along the property line and the property is HUGE...bring your hiking boots! We even found a natural creek that runs the length of the property. Oakhurst is a nice, quiet town. We recommend The Ol' Kettle for breakfast and Todd's BBQ for lunch or dinner. Try Todd's bread pudding! Just a little south of Oakhurst is a shooting range. There is a great shotgun range with fully automatic pigeon throwers from 2 different directions. There are a total of 13 different stations so you won't get bored. We had a BLAST! Friendly people, too! Now we're thinking about moving to the area when we retire. I will recommend to all my friends and family. Stay at Heaven's Gate and you'll be back.

A very well maintained, comfortable, spacious house in beautiful surroundings with an accommodating, gracious owner. My only regret is that we did not have more time to spend there.

Beautiful house, and very clean! We stayed here with friends, in total, 2 couples, 1 one year old boys and 3 dogs. The owner was very accommodating of the potential for mess! (although I think we did OK). We had a wonderful time, felt very comfortable and there was enough space for everyone to relax and enjoy themselves. Conveniently close to Yosemite, activities and shops/restaurants, but peaceful enough just to relax on the balcony. I wish we could have spent more time exploring the surroundings and the game room! One tip - if you have small kids - take a gate for the stairs!

December 25 2009 Christmas Day – December 29 2009 Dear Sunday, To make the long story short: “We had fun!” Your house is beautiful and to see over 10 deer in your front yard was pretty amazing! We went snow boarding over at Valley West (Badger Pass Ski Resort) and it was our very first snow boarding experience! Aside from some very achy bodies, it was tons of fun. My little sister, who is by the way 24 years old, walked in the snow for the very first time and made her very first snowman! Great times. We watched two of the movies here: “Little Children” and “Love Comes Softly” Thanks for those. We had two rainy nights, which still didn’t hold us back from hanging out at the deck. Thanksgiving – November 24 – 28 2009 This is our last night at Haven’s Gate. It was cold and raining today and we had a fire going, almost all afternoon and evening. It has been such a great place to relax and enjoy God’s beauty! The house is so nice; plentiful room, all the comfort of home and more! Such a beautiful setting to look over the deck at the town at night, watch all the deer grazing in the front and evening! We’ve loved it! Hallo Frau Rottler, Wir, die Familie Roeschl besuchen unsere Tochter Julia, die in den USA lebt, und waren mit Peter G. im Yosemite Park. Das Haus fanden wir sehr schön und genossen die Amerikanische Atmosphäre. Im Yosemite Park besuchten wir alle “BIG” Sehenswürdigkeiten. Die Landschaft hat seine eigenen Reize und erinnert ein wenig an die Wälder in Deutschland. Ach ja, das habe ich ganz vergessen, wir kommen aus Deutschland, und hier aus Regensburg. Das liegt in Bayern, nähe München. Uns hat sehr gefallen, dass hier so viele deutsche Bücher waren. Viele Grüsse, Regina, Franz-Josef, mit Familie Note from owner: Meine Frau Sunday spricht kein Deutsch, aber ich bin Ursprünglich von Konstanz am Bodensee und ich freue mich immer ganz besonders wenn wir Gäste von Deutschland und der Schweiz hier verwoehnen dürfen ?

What a lovely house and land. I hadn’t seen deer in a long time. We came from Los Angeles and really needed this time to relax and enjoy our time with our friends who came from Washington DC to meet us here. We watched the sunset on the patio – what a beautiful sunset! We were able to use your kitchen and grill and cooked good food.

We came from Bethesda, MD on August 17th. Spent a few days in San Francisco and then arrived here on Thursday and met our friends Fariba, Alu, Novien Sheyan and spent three wonderful days discovering Yosemite & Bass lake! What a beautiful house! We hope to come back in the future.

What a lovely place! The pictures on the Internet don’t show the majesty of the views off the deck. The sunset was just amazing. We really enjoyed the train ride (Midnight/Moonlight Special). If you go, use bug spray. The bees do swarm there and dive at your food. Glacier Point was beautiful too – worth the drive. We appreciate the hospitality and the fine “extras” Heaven’s Gate provided. ****4-STAR PROPERTY**** If you like being pampered when you are in the wilderness, this is the place for you. AWESOMELY COMFORTABLE beds, at least the master bedroom, we can't speak for the others. Stayed for a week, didn't want to leave. Great game room in garage, DSL internet to stay connected and update facebook so my friend could be jealous, Direct TV(s) with too many channels to watch, Convenient to Oakhurst (food and drink) and Yosemite NP. It makes the drive from Phoenix very worth while. Will definitely look this place up if (when) we return to the area. Well worth the $$$$. Very comfortable and relaxing furniture, inside and out.

Stayed here with the whole family for a short family reunion. Grandparents and dog included. Between a 10 yr old and five adults, everyone was happy. The deck was a pleasure for meals as was the kitchen with everything you could ask for. We would definitely come back. Owners also great help!

Heaven’s gate – what a great place to hang out and relax. Deer in the front yard most mornings – a group of 4 on Friday evening when we returned from Yosemite. Yosemite – Exhilarating Has to be seen to be enjoyed – pictures just don’t convey the experience. Too quickly our week is over and we head for home with our memories.

We had a wonderful July 4th week here at this comfy, very nicely furnished spacious house. Beautiful deck with great view and great recreation room for kids. Very peaceful, getaway spot great for Bass Lake and Yosemite. Will be back FALL/Winter for sure. A keeper!! Owners very helpful. Would go back anytime..highly recommended

Lovely home really comfy, peaceful, and soothing after a day of outdoor's adventure, everything is all there for your need and entertainment. The kitchen and dining room is the best place of the house for me and my friends. The lower family room was also my party's favorite spot because of the cool cold air condition system. Will look forward to the same rental again for the next future Yosemite trip.

Heaven’s Gate is a very comfortable and soothing home, though we didn’t spend much time around the house, since it was our first time in Yosemite. I would like to stay here again when we get a chance to come back.

What a great time! We loved staying here in a great house & wonderful neighborhood for walking. Beautiful deck and views and so peaceful. After Yosemite, or Bass Lake we all slept soundly in comfy beds. The kids loved the game room!
