Map & Owner's Profile
Snowmass Village Colorado - Large Mountain Vacation Home
Year Purchased: 2000
Why the Owner Chose Snowmass Village
I began skiing in Aspen with my brother in 1961, and had the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of Snowmass Ski Resort. My sister owns a place nearby and we create family vacations throughout the year to enjoy the area and each other's company. Skiing conditions are unbelievably good, with splendid snow conditions and attention to grooming the hills throughout the ski season.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Ideal climate good skiing year around leisure. Excellent snow conditions are typical during the ski season. Off season offers many options for leisure, such as hiking, golfing, fishing, biking, fine dining, horseback riding, river rafting in summer, the beauty of seasonal changes, and a great place for family reunions.
Owner's Map of Snowmass Village
I built the original house with my brother and friends in 1967. We were the first to receive a certificate of occupancy in the newly opened Snowmass Ski Resort. I continue to visit Snowmass frequently with family and friends.
The area is quite beautiful year round with world class sports, art and music activities ongoing. Events are suitable for a mix of ages and abilities.

I have been a enjoying all of the seasons in Aspen and Snowmass since the late 1960s and have stayed in several homes and condos in the area. My absolute favorite is the Newhard Chalet in Melton Ranch, Snowmass. The Newhard Chalet, with its expansive views of Owl Creek Road and the Snowmass Club, is modern, comfortable, and outfitted with all of the best amenities. The large kitchen, which is well equipped to handle large groups, and its adjoining dining area, with its two oversized tables and chairs, is the hub of the Chalet. The entire first floor has soaring ceilings and windows. There are bedrooms, each with cable TV and baths on all three floors. The Chalet is within walking distance, via a bike trail on the cul-de-sac, to the City Market of Snowmass and Snowmass Village itself. Another bonus is the Chalet's hot tub located directly outside of the 1st floor family room

We recently stayed at the Newhard Chalet and everyone agreed that it was a perfect home for a most enjoyable and relaxing week in Snowmass/Aspen. The house had everything we wanted and was exceptionally clean and most importantly, all of the amenities were as listed on the website, so there were absolutely no challenges. The kitchen is well equipped which made it easy to prepare nice meals, it also had a computer/printer, wireless internet, a good number of books, cable televisions in all of the bedrooms and family room, DVD players, games, a nice deck and hot tub. The 5 bedrooms were just what we needed and all with very comfortable beds. The layout was very nice as the main floor had an open floor plan that was great for entertaining and it opened out onto the deck. There were also ample bathrooms and all the showers had perfect water pressure. The wall of windows displayed a spectacular view from the living room and the bedrooms also had a great view. I must say that it was wonderful waking up to the most beautiful sunrises with the mountains as a back drop, I can’t think of a better way to start the day. The location was also perfect as it was an easy drive into Aspen, Maroon Bells and other local sights. We also were able to walk to the Village Market and Snowmass Village. I highly recommend the Newhard Chalet and we’re definitely looking forward to returning next year.
Owner response:Thank you so much for your review - we're so happy you enjoyed your stay. Just to clarify - there is free wifi available to guests but the printer and computer are not normally available to renters. We look forward to having you back again soon.

I loved this home!! It was warm and spacious and had every amenitiy you would want in a home. I appreciated that it was extremely clean and well kept I loved that it was minutes from the mountain. The large kitchen and dining was especially great for our large group. We look forward to renting this house again.

We have stayed at Newhard Chalet for several winter ski holidays and loved it. Lots of room for everyone - kids can be in Family room or up in loft. Lots of bathrooms and a great kitchen and dining area. The shuttle bus right on corner takes you to Snowmass village in under 15 minutes and we used the RAFTA to explore the bars in Aspen (pick up right across the Rd.). Loved the hot tub and the comfortable living room after a day of skiing, but the most amazing thing about this house is the views from every room - beautiful!! The location is great and I would suggest this place for families, couples (1 king suite and 3 queen bedrooms in addition to the "loft" with 4 single beds) This year, my girl friends and I decided to come back for an autumn trip to hike and relax. We took in the Maroon Bells, a Gondola ride up Aspen Mt. Saturday Farmer's market in Aspen and several walks on the bike/walk trail that starts at the end of the road and goes to the village. Would love to return in all seasons!
Owner response:Thank you so much for your review of the Newhard Chalet. You bring up an excellent point that the area is also a wonderful place to visit during autumn; the trees are changing colours, there are less people to contend with at the shops and restaurants, and hiking/biking opportunities abound. We look forward to welcoming you back in the coming seasons.
