Why the Owner Chose Seven Mile Beach

The Cayman Islands has the most beautiful turquoise sea and pristine sandy white beaches we have ever seen. We remark each day just how beautiful and clear the water is. Snorkeling is superb and there are many different coral reefs to visit. We have found that the reef in the "backyard" is one of our favorites. The staff at the condo are warm and accommodating and the property is always immaculately maintained. We have also found that the Caymanian people are delightful and wonderful to visit with.

The Unique Benefits at this Condo

The only turtle farm in the world is approximately a 10 minute drive from the condo and worth the visit. We enjoy full day snorkeling adventures with Captain Marvin's Watersports. You get to visit unique snorkeling locations, plus a visit to the famous Stingray City. If you rent a car, plan a day to tour the island all the way to Rum Point. You will marvel at the different sites along your way, including Pedro St. James, Wreck of the Ten Sail, and the blow holes.

Owner's Map of Seven Mile Beach

We both have grown up and currently live in New England and always have enjoyed being around the ocean. We have enjoyed the slower pace of life on Grand Cayman and the quality time we have spent together as a family. Our children have many fond memories of each trip we have made together and the part they remark on most is the enjoyment of "island time."

Dream Vacation

Guest: Lynne E. (Yarmouth, Maine)
Date of Stay: 12/25/09 Review Submitted: 01/08/10

My family just returned from Grand Cayman where we spent Christmas Week at Discovery Point. We had a fantastic time. Not only is the island beautiful, the weather perfect, and the snorkeling beyond belief, the condo itself was the perfect place for us to stay. We loved the quiet location, the snorkeling reef just off our beach, and the wonderful walks in both directions. Jim and Gail had sent us everything we needed to know to maximize our stay, including the cruise ship activity each day, which allowed us to plan our week without the usual Christmas crowds. We enjoyed the boat trip to Sting Ray City, an afternoon of dining and beaching at Rum Point, and eating out in the evening. While we worried about affordable dining during peak season, we found that there were many choices for great meals on a budget. A major grocery store close by made it easy to pick up staples for breakfast and lunch. The kitchen is well-equipped and the grills on premise were very much appreciated. There was even a resort-wide poolside barbecue one evening with amazing chicken and ribs and a steel drum band. We had a blast. We feel we are the luckiest travelers alive because we found the ideal spot on Seven Mile Beach--a spacious, attractive condo with gracious, helpful owners, huge dry beach towels daily, chaise lounges with plenty of shade, easy entry swimming, a cool, clean pool, and the best snorkeling on the island at Cemetery Beach, a five minute walk from the condo. I would return in a heart beat.

Owner response:Thank you very much for sharing your insight with us and potential guests. We hope that others will appreciate the beauty and tranquility of Grand Cayman as you did.

Absolutely Breathtaking

Date of Stay: 08/07/11 Review Submitted: 01/14/12

The accommodations were far greater than what was listed. My husband and I were on our honeymoon and find this perfect condo. The view from the lanai was spectacular to wake up every morning and be able to sit at the table to eat breakfast or any meals. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were updated and clean, the kitchen fully stocked. The views were breathtaking. It was very quiet as well. I having been to Cayman many times would rate this place the best of all that I have stayed in, and my husbands first time said he is definitely going back. We used DiveTech for some great shore dives and the short drive was very convenient. The water is so blue and clear, it is amazing what you see, even the vibrant colors at 100 ft deep. Thank you very much for allowing us to stay in your home! We will definitely be returning.

Owner response:We are glad that you found our beachfront condo to be the perfect honeymoon location! We certainly agree that the water is incredibly blue and clear!

Paradise

Guest: Larry S (Wichita, KS USA)
Date of Stay: 12/30/11 Review Submitted: 01/11/12

My wife and two adult age children (18 female & 20 male) just returned from an 8 days stay at this wonderful beachfront property. The condo is very clean, completely equipped and located on a beautiful part of Seven Mile Beach. Some of the best snorkeling we did was right off the beach behind the condo. From the lanai the sunsets are spectacular, and you can watch (from a distance) the cruise ships arriving and departing from Georgetown. Scuba diving around Grand Cayman is also very good. We used Living The Dream Divers and were very satisfied with the personal service they provided. I recommend renting a car as several great restaurants are within short driving distance. We particularly enjoyed Calypso Grill (sticky toffee pudding is great!), Timbuktu for casual dining, and Chicken Chicken for a very tasty wood roasted chicken dinner with all of the fixings. We also used the car for short excursions into Georgetown and one afternoon drive completely around the island. The red conch chowder at The Lighthouse was tremendous, along with the fish wraps we had for lunch. This property was perfect for our families needs and we all highly recommend staying here.

Owner response:We are delighted that you enjoyed the condo and found it clean and well stocked! Also, you dined at some of our favorite restaurants and we never go home without stopping at the Lighthouse for some of Miss Nell's famous conch chowder! Thank you for choosing our "home away from home."

Great Escape

Guest: Love to travel (Grosse Pointe, MI/USA)
Date of Stay: 11/23/11 Review Submitted: 11/28/11

Our family of 4 stayed in the condo. It was great. The condo was very comfortable and the kitchen had whatever appliance or utensil you could possibly need. The view is fabulous. Looking out over the balcony to the beach! The best part about this location is the ability to snorkel right from the beach. We saw a variety of fish within 30 feet of the beach. We appreciated the info that Jim and Gail sent us ahead of time. We would recommend for dinner, Pappagallos and Calypso Grill - these are higher end restaurants. For moderate dinner we would recommend Al Frescos.

Owner response:We are pleased that you found our "home" comfortable. We also enjoy the view of the beautiful Caribbean Sea from the lanai. The "backyard" snorkeling is spectacular while watching the wonders of the sea. The restaurants you mentioned are also our favorites as well. Thank you again for being our guests. Jim and Gail

Excellent property

Guest: Greg W.
Date of Stay: 07/22/11 Review Submitted: 10/03/11

The stay at Discovery Point was excellent. For my taste, the site of the condo on 7 Mile Beach, and Grand Cayman for that matter, is perfect. You are a quick drive or long walk away from the busiest part of 7 Mile, yet are in a relatively un-populated spot. The condo is also right in front of a great snorkeling area. The condo itself is in great shape and has everything you need. Having never been to Grand Cayman before I would say it is safe, very western, relaxed , but pretty expensive. The cost is offset though by the cost of flights relative to other places in the Caribbean and the ability to eat-in, etc. The condo itself I thought was an excellent value relative to hotels or other locations I have stayed in via Home Away. The owners of the property were very helpful and easy to work with, as was the staff at the condo. Overall this is a great place to relax and enjoy fine dining (the island has many delicious, but expensive options). I definitely recommend this property.

Owner response:We are delighted that you found the condo to be in a convenient location....and with great snorkeling right in the "backyard." We appreciate your feedback, as it is helpful for future guests in choosing a place to stay that will meet their needs. Thank you again for choosing our "home away from home" in Grand Cayman.

There is nothing like a Cayman Sunset!

Guest: The D's (NJ)
Date of Stay: 03/27/10 Review Submitted: 04/08/11

We enjoyed our 2nd stay in the Caymans, 1st time at Discovery Point Club. The condo provided plenty of room for a family of 5 . It was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The kids enjoyed an impromptu demonstration on coconut preparation and tasting FRESH coconut water/meat from one of the staff. I enjoyed my morning coffee on the lanai and sunsets on the beach. The stackable laundry/dryer unit is a great convenience. The beach is great with lots of shade available(loved the huts!). Swimming wasn't ideal in front of condo due to coral, but a short walk south provided the beautiful, blue water associated with Seven Mile Beach. Best snorkeling was north of the condo at Cemetery Beach and Cracked Conch along with Eden Rock in Georgetown. A car is a must if you stay in this area. Make sure you tour the island as there is so much natural beauty away from the commercialism of Seven Mile Beach (ie:The Blow Holes). Reasonably priced dinner's at Alfrescos, and Coconut Joe"s. Take advantage of free Catamaran ride through Red Sail (at the Westin) over to Rum Point for dinner. The Tikki Beach is a beautiful location, but expensive with a limited menu. There is a great ice cream shop with homemade ice cream in the building with Dolce Vita Restaurant in Georgetown.. We enjoyed having access to grills and had a pot luck supper (with fresh fish from Hammerheads in Georgetown....$5.00/pound) on the beach one night with 2 other families we met. All in all it was a fabulous vacation and we thank Gail and Jim for sharing their Home Away From Home and for being so attentive to our questions/needs.

Owner response:Thank you for sharing your vacation highlights. There definitely is much to see and do in Grand Cayman...along with lots of relaxing too! We are delighted that the accommodations were more than adequate for your family. Discovery Point Club has much to offer and the staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. Jim and Gail

Wonderful Condo in a Beautiful Location

Guest: Tina (Hartland, WI)
Date of Stay: 03/11/11 Review Submitted: 03/23/11

We just returned from a week at this property and the only problem was that we didn't stay longer! The condo is nicely appointed and the views of the water and beach were unbelievable. We sat on the lanai in the morning and listened to the surf roll, and returned there for fabulous sunset views. Discovery Pointe is wonderfully maintained, the pool is warm, the grounds are lush, and the staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the location of the condo which sits north of the busy stretch of seven mile beach and tended to be quieter and more family oriented. We had some fantastic meals at Cimboco, The Cracked Conch and Guy Harveys. Our three year old loved swimming with dolphins at Dolphin Cove and we took a submarine down 100 feet to the coral reef at night. The stretch of beach at the condo was great for swimming and snorkeling. While snorkeling we saw sea turtles and stingray. It was awesome and I highly recommend this property.

Owner response:We are very pleased that you had a wonderful vacation and that you found our "home" to be more than adequate. We also never tire of the beautiful waters of the Caribbean Sea, whether snorkeling, swimming, or the view when dining or watching the sunset. We are sure that our future guests will be a pleased as you were. Thank you again for your kind words.

Wonderful Vacation

Guest: Rick & Melinda (Traverse City, MI)
Date of Stay: 12/01/10 Review Submitted: 01/24/11

My husband and I stayed at Discovery Point #11 at the beginning of Dec. 2010 and had an absolutely wonderful time. This was our first time visiting Grand Cayman and we're already planning our next trip. The snorkeling is amazing right in front of the condo. The hospitality was absolutely unbeatable. The condo was very spacious and clean (even better than in the pictures). The staff were so friendly and helpful. Jim and Gail went out of their way to accomodate us and were so helpful answering our questions and giving us suggestions. We would absolutely recommend staying at Discovery Point #11. We were blown away by everything it had to offer.

Owner response:We are delighted that you both had such a wonderful time in Grand Cayman and enjoyed the accommodations in our "home away from home." Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with others and we look forward to having you stay with us again. Jim and Gail

Peaceful And Beautiful

Date of Stay: 11/06/10 Review Submitted: 11/12/10

This was our 10th wedding anniversary that we decided to celebrate at Grand Cayman. The condo and the owners are the best and their unit is wonderful and the views are just gorgeous. It was the perfect place for a restful and rejuvenating time away. The fact that one of our bags was lost was the only downfall and it might help for the office to have toothbrushes/toothpaste and shampoo available for people in this position.Other than that it was truly a wonderful anniversary we will treasure. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us.

Owner response:We are delighted that you had wonderful 10th Wedding Celebration in Grand Cayman! Thank you for your suggestion for having necessary toiletries available for those guests whose luggage doesn't arrive when they do. We appreciate your feedback and thank you for your kind words.

July 24 - 31, 2010....vacation with myself, my husband & 2 boys (18 & 20)

Guest: Linda (Northampton, PA USA)
Date of Stay: 07/24/10 Review Submitted: 08/01/10

I'll start with the negative....we had to leave!! Your condo is spectacular. Everything we hoped for & more. It was clean, beautifully decorated, nicer than the pictures. The resort itself is wonderful also. A beautiful beach with plenty of lounge chairs, umbrellas, huts. And we loved having the pool right on the beach - it was so convenient & also, what a view to swim by!! The managers at Discovery Point were so very nice. The condo is excellently maintained and has everything and anything you could possibly want or need. The screened porch was one of my favorite things. We cooked dinner twice (used the outdoor grills!) and ate there...it was heaven. And morning coffee.....it doesn't get any better than that! It was also perfect for the one rainy evening we had, to play a game with the family. We really appreciate your helpful packet you sent us ahead of time. The best hint was getting dinner from Chef John on the public beach...oh my - delicious!! Snorkeling right from our beach was great and the best snorkeling was only a few minutes down the beach, at Cemetary Beach. The condo was so clean (very important to us). The maids did a great job with their daily cleaning. I must give a shout out to our favorite waitresses at our favorite restaurant....Millicent & Sylvania, from Alfresco's (ate there 3 times). Gail & Jim, if you have never eaten there, be sure you do. And please say hello to our girls! Also, Alan from Wall to Wall divers is the BEST!!!! Thank you for the yummy fruit basket...it was very much enjoyed. Grand Cayman is truly a paradise, and staying at your condo made it that much more enjoyable. If you are considering a vacation in the Cayman Islands and are considering this condo, DO IT! You will not be sorry.

Owner response:Thank you very much for the wonderful review. We truly appreciate your feedback and insight. We hope that future travelers to Grand Cayman will enjoy our "home away from home" as much as you did! The Cayman Islands are truly a wonderful place and we thoroughly enjoy assisting our guests in any way we can prior to their trip.
