Location: Village House, Port Royal, Island Areas, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, USA
Accommodations: Villa, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 4-8)
Keywords: Villa
Our unit is on the first floor up from the lobby. It is unique with a personal spiral staircase leading up to the huge double back patio, and of course there is an indoor elevator to use, as well. Choose to take a 5 minute or so walk to the beach or take a dip in the pool a few steps away.
This unit is in a PRIME location! Right in between the Westin to the left and the Marriott Barony Beach resort to the right. We sometimes walk in from the beach and buy drinks at their tiki huts or have a convenient ocean-front lunch at their outdoor cafes where there is usually live music during the peak summer months. There are lots of paths and walkways to ride bikes or walk around Port Royal Plantation and the trees floating over the road for the drives in and out are so beautiful, like a dream, really. Just driving to Bi-Lo or Publix (the nearby grocery stores) is a refreshing treat for the eyes with views like these!
Hilton Head Island is a world class vacation mecca, offering 12 miles of beautiful sandy beaches, over 30 area golf courses, dozens of tennis courts, and several marinas. Water sports rentals including power boats, sail boats, kayaks, jet skis, parasailing, water skiing as well as fishing onshore or offshore are abundantly available. There are over 50 miles of bike paths throughout the island and family bicycling is a favorite activity for many. There are hundreds of restaurants from fine dining to fast food, not to mention great shopping from the Island Mall to outlet malls on and off the island.
The unit itself is just what you need for a perfect vacation. Spacious, airy and bright with large patio doors and windows letting in light. Breezy, beachy colors that soothe the senses and updated decorator touches (like granite countertops in the kitchen, for example) give it that special something for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. There is plenty of room with a large master suite on one side of the villa and the huge 2nd bedroom on the other with a detached bath that can be used for others that may be sleeping in the living area in the pull out bed. There is a table for 4 for indoor dining and a large table set outside on the patio to dine outdoors. There is a patio door leading out from the master and another from the living area/den with PLENTY of space for everyone and the view is green and serene, a really peaceful retreat.
There are nice sized televisions in all rooms*, including the new 40 inch plasma TV we just bought this year for the master bedroom. The DVD player is in the main room tv. There is wireless interent access (but no working on vacation, house rules! ;) )
*the tv shown in the guest bedroom has been upgraded to a larger set.

Nice Condo

We just spent a week at this condo during October 2011. The condo was spacious and nicely furnished and decorated. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of dishes, cups, glasses, and utensils. We liked the full-size refrigerator. We appreciated having more than enough towels. The beds were extremely comfortable and firm. The WI-FI was very good. The washing machine, dryer, and dishwasher are tiny, but better than none at all. Parking is conveniently located under the building. The walk out to the beach using the Westin entrance was more like 10 minutes, but still not too bad. The interior of the condo is showing some wear, and the carpet is stained. Overall, it was fairly clean. However, we found that the exterior of the refrigerator, dishwasher, kitchen cabinets, and some areas of the bathroom required cleaning. There is no cleaning service during the stay, so I would definitely recommend taking cleaning products with you to take care of the details the cleaning crew misses and to keep things clean during your stay. Although not mentioned anywhere, there is a garbage chute on the same floor just past the elevators. October is a very nice time of the year to visit Hilton Head Island, and the weather was perfect. There were more mosquitoes at this time of the year, so I would recommend bringing a repellant. The condo is very close to Publix, BI-LO, Sam's, Fresh Market, and Wal-Mart, so getting supplies is not an issue. There are lots of restaurants in the area. There's a family fun center that is very close as well. The mall is just minutes away. There's a hospital very close by. Harbour Town is only about 10-15 minutes away and has plenty of shopping, as well as a lighthouse. There's a large Tangier Outlet just off the island. For anyone with a gluten allergy, there's a nice health food store just one street away on Matthews that offers quite an extensive line of gluten-free products. Carrabas, Bonefish Grill, and Outback all offer a gluten-free menu and are very close by. The upscale restaurants in the area are gluten-friendly and will work with you if you call ahead of time. We found a Pancake House offering gluten-free pancakes just off the island near Tangier Outlet, and the food was fabulous and very reasonably priced. All in all, we enjoyed our stay at this condo, and we would return.
Owner response:We have the carpets in the unit cleaned every Fall (usually mid-October) after the Summer rental traffic, I guess I will have to change the cleaning date for September next year. I contacted our cleaning service to complain about the crew who cleaned for this October 1st arrival. They promised to do better, what else can you do... Thanks, Ron and Linda, owners

We just returned from Hilton Head. We were @ HHI last week of July 2011. We had an excellent stay at this condo and our kids loved it. The condo is very nicely decorated, clean and spacious. The beds are very comfortable. It is a very short walk to the beach, less than 5 minutes walk making it easy to ride the bikes or walk few times per day. This unit is a great first floor condo with an extra large deck that has a private spiral staircase down to the beach path. The Village House complex is only minutes from the beach (walking distance), secure and it has a covered parking under the building. This was our first trip to Hilton Head but it will not our last. Our family is already looking forward to returning to HHI and this unit fits our needs perfectly. Ron the owner is very helpful, courteous, friendly and very pleasant to deal with. Overall this is a great unit and we highly recommend staying here the next time you visit Hilton Head.

I must begin by saying that I am very particular about the accomodations I choose for vacations, yet I don't want to spend too much so we'll have plenty of spending money to eat out at all the fresh seafood restaurants! YUM! This villa is the perfect balance; we got the LUXURY for LESS. Driving into Port Royal was like a fairytale, it's a dream driving in and out on the mossy tree-lined streets. When we pulled up to The Village House we were greeted by an amazingly rare-looking bird, like the kind you would see out on a pier-- It is THAT tranquil and quiet-- it just makes you feel at ease the moment you step out of the car. That peace and quiet continued throughout our trip and into the nights. Our 3 children slept like a dream because we didn't hear a peep from neighbors or people upstairs. That meant a lot to me! We found it convenient to use the spiral staircase when we came in from the beach. When sandy, wet, and half-dressed it was nice to be able to sneak up that way instead of using the elevator. We LOVED the HUGE double porch! So much room for my kids to play when we came back from the pool or beach and plenty of space to put all our STUFF ( a lot with 3 kids!) And the furniture out there is really nice, a few of the chairs can recline flat so you can lie out in the sun on your own porch, which I did while the baby had his naps inside. We liked that there are 2 different ways to get to the beach. We used the entrance (5 min.walk away) where the HiltonHead locals park, it's kept so nice and such a peaceful stroll to the beach. There's a nice playground for the kids next to the board walk, huge rinse off area and clean restrooms. Back at the villa, I had everything I needed in the kitchen to cook for the whole family and it's just what I need for vacation--functional-- but NOT lacking in style (ex. granite countertops, nice decor, etc). I personally appreciated the dimmer switches in the kitchen and for the chandelier in the dining area b/c it set a relaxing mood at night. During the day all the windows made it feel so open and cheery while letting in the perfect amount of light, and the soothing colors just made me feel good inside, like you should on vacation!! My husband enjoyed the large flat screen and plasma/LCD tvs in the m. bedroom and family area. The kids liked having their own tv, too, in the morning...everyone could watch what they wanted while mom got ready! :) Pure Enjoyment! We will be returning again; thanks!

The villa is wonderfully decorated and is very clean. We had a very relaxing time. Beds are extremely comfortable. The 2 decks are quiet and suitable for family and friend entertaining. The beach is a very short and easy 5 min. walk. Looking forward to returning with my family for many years to come! The covered garage and elevator are a welcome bonus!

my husband and i LOVED this condo. it wasprivate, well appointed and had all the conveniences we needed. the beach is a close walk. we had other family staying at the marriott barony beach, which is right next door, so we got to share in family fun and then return to our own private oasis. the owner was very accessible and easy to deal with. we have already booked it for next year!

Lots to love about this rental! Great location - The Westin, and it's beach access, is just a two-minute walk! Nice Living room with TV/VCR/DVD. Nice porch with table and chairs off of the living room. Spacious master bedroom with King-size bed, private full bathroom, wet bar, HDTV/DVD Flat screen and a porch. Very spacious second bedroom with two big beds (I think it was one full and one queen) and a standard size TV. The owner was an absolute breeze to deal with, especially with my booking being very last minute. Smallish but functional and clean kitchen. W/D I would definitely recommend this rental! Thank you Ron!

This is our first visit to Hilton Head Island, we had a wonderful time. The location is fabulous, five minute walk to a beautiful beach. The boys loved the spiral stairs off the deck, the building and grounds are immaculate and well kept. The villa is very comfortable and has a well stocked kitchen w/ beautiful granite counter tops. It is very comfortable and felt like home. Everthing appears to be almost new and in excellent condition. This is definitely one of the nicest villas we have vacationed in. Everything is so close, from shopping to restaurants, golf and tennis as well as the easy walk to the beach!! We would highly recommend this condo to anyone looking for an affordable beach vacation on Hilton Head Island.
