This is a beautiful modern home with three sliding glass doors on the main floor so you feel as if you are outdoors. There is an open kitchen, dining and living area with cathedral ceilings, a master bedroom (Queen bed) suite/2 room bath and washer/dryer all on the first floor.
There is a gas stove on a brick hearth, tile floors and carpeting. Up the spiral staircase, there is a large bedroom (Queen bed) with four skylights, so you can see the stars and moon; and another bedroom with a cathedral ceiling and twin beds. There is also a full bath on the second floor. The house is beautifully decorated with American and English antiques.
This is a perfect summer house, located nine miles east of Great Barrington. The house is a mile from the most pristine lake in the Berkshires, Lake Garfield, which has a sand beach and lifeguard in July and August. This home is 15 minutes to Lenox (Tanglewood, Berkshire Theatre Festival, Jacob's Pillow) and many other cultural and children's activities. There is peace, quiet and beauty in this four acre property. There is satellite for TV and dial-up internet connections.

Definitely a winner in every way, lovely setting among garden and trees on a shaded quiet road in the non-touristy part of the Berkshires, with easy access for shopping, restaurants, etc, as well as walking and hiking trails. House is well-designed and beautifully decorated, well-stocked for all culinary, entertainment, and personal needs (especially lovely and spacious, well-lit bedrooms and high-ceilinged living-community-sitting room). Owners were quite helpful, gracious, and accomodating thru the entire process of rental and moving in for our close to 2 week stay. Ease of driving to all parts of the Berkshires. Photos do give this rental full justice, Only drawback; the circular stairway should be considered in theassignment of bedrooms.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

We had a really wonderful week at your home in Monterey. The house was comfortable and spacious - we could spread out, yet we were warm and cozy when it got cold and when it rained, it was a perfect excuse to stay in, read and drink tea. I wrote every morning in the master bedroom with the lovely early sun streaming onto your "rustic" desk. Working on my third novel. We'd love to return to Monterey and stay in your home on another trip. Thank you for your hospitality and your warm welcome. It was so appreciated!

The house was very comfortable. We were six adults and a baby. The kitchen was well equipted and the living room very cozy.The bedrooms were large and the beds comfortable. It is well situated for trips to Tanglewood and Great Barrington.We will definitely return another time.The owners were very helpful. Monterey is a very pretty little village, off the beaten path.
Recommended for:Age 55+, families with young children.
