We had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful and we appreciated the little extras Evelyn did to make us feel welcome. The kids table was a huge hit and the wine and cheese plate was a nice treat. The views are amazing and the location is fantastic! We can't wait to come back!

We had actually planned to stay here last year but due to unforeseen circumstances we had to postpone our stay. Evelyn could not have been more understanding of our unfortunate situation. We were so excited to try it again this year with much success!! Our stay was simply amazing. Upon entering the house we were greeted with wine and cheese and a very personal note to enjoy our stay. The view from the house is absolutely breath taking!! What a treat to fall asleep and wake up hearing the ocean. We also had my 10 month old daughter with us and were pleasantly surprised to see how baby friendly the house was. There were so many small details and added touches you could only say they provided 5 star service!! It was the perfect vacation for me and my family. If you are looking for a nice house with a spectacular view close to everything in Monterey I highly recommend you stay here!

If you want to stay near the water in PG, this is the place! A charmingly renovated and decorated ranch house with wonderful views. Comfortable beds, did I say fabulous views, delightful backyard and equipped wth all you need. Also meticulously clean and organized. So accessible to PG, Monterey, Carmel and all the wonderful sights of Monterey Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Will stay here again if we possibly can.

Our stay here was wonderful. The house is great, cute, clean and with everthing one might need. We had small children with us and they we so happy to have "new" toys to enjoy. The location is perfect and the view is breathtaking. The owners were helpful and accomodating. I would recommend this property to anyone and look forward to returning!

Very lovely home - exceptionally clean, well maintained and nicely appointed. The location was outstanding - within walking distance of Lover's point with a beautiful view and walking trail just out front. The Pacific Grove Golf links with a driving range is just down the street. Very convenient to Cannery Row, 17 mile drive, Carmel, aquarium and Big Sur. We came from the East Coast and it exceeded all our expectations. We would definitely stay there again. Thank you, Evelyn!

This was perfect. Everything was designed for our comfort - toys for the kids (new toys, not some discarded rejects from the '80s), great kitchen appliances, dry goods for cooking, wine and cheese for us, even a welcome letter and very informative guest book. Everything was even better than it looks in the photos. very clean house, great location, great comfort. We should probably lie and say it was awful so that no one comes here - as we want this place all to ourselves this summer. ;-) We rent often and we are always concerned about comfort and safety for our two children. Not so here. This was fantastic. The one thing - the only thing I would change - is the 10am check out. That was a bit rigid, but everything else was "aces."

We had an outstanding visit; the property was all that was promised. We were in town for the Big Sur half marathon and don't know what we enjoyed more... the run or just hanging out at the house. The house is at the 5.9 mile mark on the way out and 9.9 mile mark on the way back. I cannot tell you how many envious looks we got when we took a quick break at our personal water stop. There is no better way to run the Big Sur.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Oceanview Retreat this past week for a family vacation. My husband and I and our three kids (8, 5, 3) thoroughly enjoyed the home and all that Monterey has to offer. The home is conveniently set up with three bedrooms (K, Q, 2 twins). The owner has created the perfect balance; creating a warm and comfortable environment without the feeling that you are living in another person's home. The kitchen was well stocked and even included a small table for the kids as well as children's plates, cups & silverware. Being directly across from the beach was wonderful and convenient for walking/running/biking along the ocean. The wine, cheese & fruit plate was also a welcome treat after our long card ride. Many thanks for a wonderful vacation. We can't wait to return!

Our family of 4 had the chance to stay 1 1/2 weeks at this wonderful house! No one wanted to leave! The views were better than the pictures. The house was very clean, well decorated, sufficient supplies and really gave the feeling of being home. The owner was very easy to work with and went the extra effort to make us feel welcome. We stay in a house or condo just about every year and this place is our favorite so far. We will definitely try to come back in near future!

We have vacationed many times in the Monterey Bay area over recent years but this is the first time we have rented a house. The property easily met our expectations and was a perfect base for the 3 of us during the week. This is a terrific location and being able to roll out of the front door onto the ocean front is simply great. Activities included whale watching, kayaking (in the bay and at Elkhorn Slough) and hiking at Point Lobos as well as walks along the shore front. We will stay here again when we visit the area.

The location was terrific for ocean views outside the front windows and within walking distance of Pacific Grove Golf Links. Every detail in this beautiful home was perfect - wine, flowers, cheese/grapes/crackers, comfortable beds, cozy robes, big-flat-screen TV.. my photographer sister went nuts over the breathtaking ocean views and the kids hunted for seashells & explored tidepools for hours, I was like a kid in a candystore with this fabulous well-stocked kitchen: crashing waves from the Bay on one side and a window to the backyard fountain on the other. (great stove, BTW) The big backyard was a bonus - chaise lounges, teak table for outdoor dining and a safe place for the kids to play. Thank you for making our two-family getaway a little slice of heaven.

What a wonderful weekend. We went for the Big Sur Marathon but almost decided to stay at the house instead. The home is so clean and perfectly appointed. The back yard is really big and beautiful. There is nothing like hanging out in the kitchen and living room and seeing the ocean right out your front window. The owner and home manager really take pride in this home and it shows. I am very hard to please when it comes to vacation rentals and this was top notch. I cannot wait to return.

We stayed here with our daughter and family including girls 9 and 12 during one of the stormiest weekends we've experienced. Wonderful views of blowing surf and great tidepooling and rock climbing when the weather cleared. House was clean and comfortable for our group. Good fast response when we encountered a plumbing problem. Highly recommended.

Clean, Cozy, Well Stocked, Ideally located, Private, Quiet. Awesome waves, fantastic beach, great bike path, just exactly what our hard working family needed together. It is so wonderful to stay at a place and have everyone say, let's come back again soon. Extra effort on the part of the owners, from the bottle of wine, the fruit and cheese tray, the water bottles, the fresh flowers, the table settings, and the personally framed greeting. Nicely done. Back again soon!

The entrance front of the home is very sharp and blends right into the ocean/seascape of Pacific Grove but upon entrance you instantly know that this is a very well professionally decorated home with coordinated rooms that all have views of either the ocean or a rather large beautifully manicured yard with a gorgeous dolphin fountain. The kitchen is completely updated and immaculate!! You will will be very happy with your stay in this home for any period of time. It's a beautiful home with views of the ocean that are unmatched by any hotel I've ever stayed in. I could not give this location less than a perfect rating.

The home was very well maintained, and supplied / decorated with more than just the basics, it beat all or our expectations. The kitchen had everything you need to prepare home cooked meals from the great seafood available on the Monterey wharf, with modern appliances, gas grill and cookware to help. We spent every morning drinking coffee while enjoying the wonderful view to the waves crashing on shore in front of the home a stones throw from the front door. Those same waves lullabied us to sleep each night after long hikes around Big Sur and the local parks. The backyard was peaceful and quite, a nice place to relax after a busy day. All in all a very nice rental and one I would love to return to.

My husband and I spent a blissful 9 days at this wonderful ocean retreat; we have been to Pacfic Grove many times, but we wanted to celebrate our 25th anniversary in style and we weren't disappointed. Evelyn's home is beautifully decorated and feels very cozy - we loved sitting in front of the fire at night with the "flameless" candles burning and watching the waves crash. The kitchen is well stocked and we ate breakfast there almost every day. We had a wonderfully romantic dinner at Isabella's on the wharf in Monterey and toured the Point Sur Lighthouse another day. We hope to visit this wonderful home again, but for now we have our memories!!

Our family (3 kids under 4yrs) and the grandparents stayed here for a long weekend. It was perfect for our needs and exactly what was described! Evelyn has a fully stocked and immaculate home; she has thought of everything from fresh flowers, kitchen sponges, and shampoo to bibs, toys, and booster chairs for our preschoolers. Upon our arrival we had music playing and jellyfish floating on the TV screen complete with a personalised welcome message, wine, and cheese. Who needs the Ritz Carlton when you have the Ocean View Retreat? Evelyn was also kind enough to have bedrails and even a children's dining table set up upon arrival. When we return next year we will not have to pack so much gear. The children loved playing in the large, flat backyard and the adults savored the 'moments' and ocean views. Our 10 month old also appreciated crawling on the very clean floors, something mommy is very particular about. Thanks for a great stay....

Very warm welcome, looked professionally decorated, and ocean front view to include cypress trees and waves crashing onto the rocks. A little challenging (but manageable) to have just one full bath (also had half bath), but everything else made up for that. We particularly love staying in Pacific Grove over Monterey or Carmel. Pacific Grove is the hidden gem and close proximity to the other locations. If your expectations are high, this place is your place. P.S. Recommend Red House Cafe in Pacific Grove for dinner.

Wow, what a week. This home was ideal for 4 gentlemen in town for the US Open. The location was perfectly situated for recreation, exercise and entertainment. The view was one of the best on the peninsula, and to top it off, you could walk to a golf course. The owners have done a excellent job with the property restoration and supplying information that makes it easy to enjoy the property and the community. We had to call the local contact at one point. She was extremely helpful and made us feel as though it was a pleasure to help us. The home is very comfortable and cozy. With only one full bath, it may be a bit cramped for more than one couple, but a small family would have no problems It gets my highest recommendation.

We stayed for four nights in this home with our two kids and another couple (so 6 total), and the house was perfect. They had house toys, sand toys, booster seat, pack 'n play, guard rail, kids' eating utensils, and more... so much so that I didn't even need to have brought our own! (In fact, I wish I'd realized before I packed, so hopefully this review helps someone else to travel with less stuff!) We loved being right across from the tide pools, with sandy beaches just down the road on either side. We definitely hope to stay here again soon! Thank you Evelyn!

The home was meticulous, inside and out. The location is absolutely perfect. We have two children, and couldn't have been more pleased with the amenities for our children and ourselves. The personalized welcome was fantastic. We have rented houses on VRBO before, and this definitely ranks up there with the best.
