Partly brought up in the wilds of central Spain riding horses and swimming in the river. I went to school in England. I have been doing relief and development work in Africa for 21 years and love what I do it never ceases to be interesting. My sister also lives in Africa and owns desert horse trail operation in Namibia. When I came do decide where in the world I wanted to end up there was no question it was Spain. I found a perfect place in Jimena surrounded by wonderful countryside and now also some very good friends and Africa is just a hop away! I love my short trips to Jimena and I'm glad that other people are also happy staying there.

Christine was a wonderful hostess providing one of the most delightful VRBOs we have ever stayed. The townhouse was spacious and beautifully decorated. Christine ensured there was someone available to check us in and provide instructions about the property and all it's amenities. The townhouse is situated in a lovely little hill top town. Christine provided us with essential information about the area to help us enjoy hiking, swimming and sightseeing. There is a sweet grocery shop just a few doors up and plenty of restaurants. It is a lively little village with kind people. We highly recommend this townhouse if you are looking for a home base to travel to other areas in Spain or just to enjoy taking in the culture of a small Spanish village. We would stay again.

Fantastic home base for exploring Andalucia...and also a great vacation destination in it's own right. Everything was perfect and exceeded expectations. We enjoyed the house very much, and actually changed our itinerary so that we could relax in it and take in Jimena. Jimena was a 3 day stop toward the end of a 2.5 week vacation in Spain. La Solana was by far our favorite and most relaxing accommodation...a great way to round out the trip. We weenjoyed couples, all enjoyed Jimena and La Solana. It is a small enough town that even the most timid, non-Spanish speaking of the group enjoyed getting out on their own and exploring the town without getting lost! For the more active, the hike to the Moorish castle and through the park was great exercise with breathtaking views and up close encounters with wild life. The location made even Cadiz accessible as a day trip. Christine was able to arrange for Flamenco classes with a local flamenco legend who came to the house to teach us the basics of flamenco! He taught us all the basics and a short dance sequence, but unfortunately the dance is so difficult we just could not master even the few steps in such a short time and two lessons. I would recommend that at least three to four lessons. It was an honor to learn from such an accomplished flamenco professional. The house is exactly as it is portrayed on the website...we had no unpleasant surprises. The house is perfect for 4 adults, more would be less comfortable only because there are two bathrooms and while one is quite large, the other is very small. Christine was the perfect hostess in arranging for our arrival. She was very accessible and responsive via email and phone before, during, and even after our stay.

My husband and i stayed in La Solana for 5 highly enjoyable and relaxing days. The house is even more beautiful in real life than in the pictures here. We were welcomed warmly and professionally by Annie, and found everything easy, comfortable and of quality. The upper terrace is a place to spend many happy relaxed hours. Jimena is delightful, we spent nice times in hostal al anon bar (great food), bar oba and la villerieno (round the corner from La Solana) all within 3 mins of the house. there is lots to do from Jimena (river walk is lovely), we did lots of great outings into the national park, Ronda, the coast. This is a great place all round and we will be back! thanks very much for making such a lovely environment to have a relaxed and elegant holiday.

We spent a wonderful week at Casa Solana in August 2009 with our 2 children aged 7 and 10 yrs. The house was beautiful;it was well maintained and equipped to a very high standard with almost everything you would need for a week away. We spent a couple of days exploring and visited Ronda which has a dramatic gorge and also some wonderful caves nearby which were very atmospheric as you explore by Davey lamp! The rest of the time we chose to spend at "La Solana",with its totally relaxing atmosphere.

We enjoyed our stay at the house and Jimena greatly. We were two couples traveling in Andalucia for 2 weeks with the middle 4 nights of our trip in Jimena. What a great way to kick back in a small village for that period of time. The house is easily located just a half block from the Clock Tower central square of the town. We ate at the local restaurants which provided us the best meals of any we had in Spain. We recommend highly eating at El Anon, a close walk away, and at El Via, next to the Jimena train station in Los Angeles. We took day trips to Gibraltar (driving) and Ronda (train). At Gibraltar leave your car on the Spanish side and walk across to avoid long delays in border crossing. The train ride to/from Ronda is great. Upon arrival back at the Jimena station we ate dinner at El Via Restaurant and then drove the short 5 minutes back to Ronda. We did enjoy meeting Christine who coordinates the rental. We were in Granada prior to our travel to Jimena and Christine met us there (she and her family live in Granada). She gave a great short walk about of the Albaycin in Granada with insightful information Andalucia, Granada, and Jimena. What a delightful person.

Absolutely perfectly presented townhouse in the nicest street in Jimena. Well stocked, with essentials and the most beautiful crockery. Lovely splash pool - Just as described. Location is perfect for access to restaurants and parking .Only 5 minutes walk from the town piscina municipal and supermarket (local small shops just a few doors up). We have stayed in several parts of the village and this is by far the nicest accommodation we have been in. A real feel to the property. Beautifully quiet at night. Service and communication from the owner / people looking after the rental was excellent. I have no hesitation in recommending this, nor the village. The slightest imperfection to the house is that there is no air con, but there are plenty of fans. Not entirely sure its needed (we stayed in an extremely hot week in August), but just so that you know. Overall 5 stars all round. Recommended activities are walking along the Rio Horgoganza. Find the stone-age cave and drawings (you will need some local knowledge). Take a train to Estation Gaucin - eat in the restaurant immediately opposite and then get directions to the most beautiful river bank on the planet where you can swim and relax for a few hours before getting the train back. Best restaurant in Jimena is the Ventorillero just around the corner. For cyclists take the road north west to Ubrique. Enjoy.

We realy had a great time in La Soalana and Jimena de la Frontera. I always would recommend it and hopefully we will repeat! We were especially delighted by it´s situation in the very heart of the village but without traffic noises and it´s traditional andalusian stile. If you want to experience Andalucia this is a good place to go.
