Yes, you CAN have it all! Experience the magic of the French countryside in this charming and roomy loft apartment in a 250 year old county farmhouse. Located just 15 minutes away from Amboise, one of the most visited cities in France, it’s the perfect starting point for an enchanting discovery tour of France’s glorious historical past. The Loire flows majestically through this historical castle-studded valley, recently listed as one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Fields and forests surround our wonderful, 250-year-old country farmhouse. A separate entrance with a sturdy staircase takes you up to the spacious loft where you will marvel at the beautifully exposed, original, rough-hewn beams and stone walls. The large, dormer window floods the room with soft light and provides a pleasant view of the original 16th century well and ruins. The new and modern bathroom with its comfortable, large oval soaking tub/shower stands in harmony with the ancient beams and angled walls. We enjoyed searching high and low for the loft's antique furnishings. If you are here in the spring or early summer, you, too, can explore the local "vide greniers" (community garage sales) or the many antique stores in the area. Wonderful treasures can be found!

Explore Amboise, only 15 minutes away, with it’s fortressed walls, ancient clock-tower, the Royal Chateau d’Amboise, and the special jewel, Clos Luce, the magnificent home where Leonardo da Vinci spent the last years of his life, now a museum and tribute to his genius. Just 30 minutes away by car or a delightful bike ride is Chenonceau, the darling of the Loire Valley Chateaux. Nearby, Chambord with its many turrets or Vilandry, with its amazingly beautiful ornamental gardens of colorful vegetables should be next on your agenda as they shouldn't be missed. Wine enthusiasts will also be delighted by the abundance of wine tasting cellars in the area. Local wine estates welcome visitors.

If you’re the outdoor type, one of the longest and most picturesque bicycle trails in Europe as well as section of the Grande Randonnee (France’s answer to the John Muir Trail) pass through Amboise, for your cycling and hiking enjoyment. We have bikes for short rides and quality cruising bicycles can be rented from several locations in Amboise or if you bring your own, we will store it in our barn.

Meals are a special treat around the farm! You can help yourself to Joon and Julie's fresh daily eggs and organic vegetables from our garden in the summer or visit the twice-weekly open-air market and pick up something to barbecue in the backyard. If you had your big meal in the afternoon, as the French do, you can enjoy a simple light meal at home in the evening; a crusty fresh-baked baguette from our village bakery with a sampling of Madame Bodet's cheese and the sausages for which the region is famous, complimented with a robust red wine or sparkling, slightly fruity Vouvray from one of the many local wineries. Feel like going out? Our village is the home of the Restaurant Auberge de la Brenne, reknowned for it's gastronomical sampling of local taste treats. There is also a plethora of restaurants in all price ranges from country casual to city elegant, within 20 minutes of the farmhouse and we’d be happy to recommend some to you. We have lived in France for over 15 years and are glad to offer our assistance by pointing you in interesting directions. We hope to make your stay not only one you will long remember but one you will long to return to, time and time again! Stopping in Paris? Please ask about renting one of our one bedroom apartments either in the Latin Quarter or Chic 16th.

    • We have always dreamed of staying in an old farm house in France and we found it! Steven and Veronica have done an incredible job transforming this georgeous old farm house on a fabulous 21/2 acre piece of farmland. The loft area of the old house has been converted into a one bedroom suite which is where we stayed. It was so quiet and private. We had our own area of the yard to relax in for reading and dining. The constant company of the 2 pet portuguese chickens made it all the more special. Fresh eggs from their summer home in the mint bush was the crowning glory. To top it off we just fell in love with Steven and Veronica and unlike other VRBO homes we had a special engagement with them as our hosts that will bring us back every time we come to France. We came as tourists and left with dear friends and a place in France we will now call home. Enjoy, enjoy. This a special opportunity.

    • Many people have stated very eloquently the joy they experienced staying in the loft. They have not exaggerated! Prior to spending 6 days in Paris, my husband and I were there for four days in early June. We had previously been in Normandy and at Mont St Michel for four days. During the two weeks we traveled in France, Le Plessis was FAR and AWAY our favorite place. The country side was gorgeous and the loft attractive, comfortable and cozy. It was great to relax at the farmhouse after a long day of chateau and winery hopping. The very best thing about our stay there was the hospitality displayed by our hostess, Veronica (sadly, we did not get to meet Steven). She was very kind and generous in sharing great information with us about Paris. It is quite obvious that she is a true Francophile. I would encourage anyone who is thinking about traveling to France to visit the Loire Valley and furthermore, to experience Le Plessis, a truely enchanting kingdom.

    • The loft at Le Plessis is an absolutely idyllic spot! I spent a couple of weekends here and found it both roomy and comfortable. The grounds and views are hearbreakingly beautiful, and so peaceful. It is a great place to simply unwind, to take long walks, or to use as a base for exploring all the Loire Valley has to offer. You will never encounter more friendy, helpful, or hospitable hosts than Steven and Veronica. I highly recommend staying at any of their properties.

    • Our family of 4 had the opportunity to stay at Le Plessis for 3 nights in August 2008 and were absolutely enchanted with the loft, its location, decor, superb amenities - particularly the huge soaking bathtub, but mostly our gracious hosts Veronica and Steven, who have made our stay a memorable experience. These warm and generous people create an ambiance of everything a holiday should be. We are eternally grateful and have promised to come back and stay longer in the future. Thank you so much for your hospitality.

    • We spent a week in April 2008 at Le Plessis and found it to be quite convenient for exploring the Loire River Valley. Visits to the market at Amboise was one of the special treats of this location. The market is large and varied with plenty of parking. The condo is up a short flight of stairs to a private entrance. It is well-appointed with access to cable TV and many books about the local area. Veronica and Steve are delightful hosts who readily share additional information about the area. The immediate countryside provides several attractive routes for walking, jogging or biking. A boulangerie and a good restaurant are nearby when one tires of cooking. Bob and C.K. Wedgeworth

    • We had the privilege of staying at the farmhouse in April, 2007. It was a wonderful experience. The farm is located a few miles from the town of Amboise and near to many of the famous chateaux in the Loire valley which we visited during our stay. Steven and Veronica made us feel very welcomed. The accommodations were all we envisioned a 200+ year old farmhouse would be. The guest apartment was spacious and quaint, and all the extra amenities had been provided including tourist pamphlets and info about the area, a stack of videos and movies if we wanted to spend a quiet hour in the loft, and fresh farm eggs compliments of Joon and Julie! We had many good conversations with Steven and Veronica and they gave us an opportunity to visit their other gorgeous property which overlooks the chateau in Amboise. We will have no hesitation in revisiting this warm and friendly couple and their wonderful farmhouse on our next visit to France. Denis and Ethel British Columbia

    • Our time in the loft was wonderful. Steve and Veronica are the most welcoming hosts and were very helpful on where to visit and where to eat. The loft was spotless and very roomy with a wonderful bathroom. One night we cooked dinner using many of the vegetables and herbs picked from the garden. In the mornings we gathered plums and strawberries. The farm was a delightful place to stay and we felt more like we locals and a part of the Loire culture rather than a tourists. As we are animal lovers we also enjoyed the lovely Talulah, who would greet us and make us feel very special. After The Loire Valley we traveled into Paris where Steve and Veronica helped us by giving us many tips on where to visit and where to eat. We loved our time in The Loire Valley and staying at the farmhouse, we would be delighted to recommend it.

    • My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our week in Steven and Veronica's loft apartment. The apartment is beautiful and very well appointed, and Steve and Veronica were wonderful hosts. After one week we feel like we made very good friends! We had a great "decompressing" vacation touring the area. I would recommend wholeheartedly.

    • Steve and Veronica were the most generous hosts we have ever met! We would recommend this beautiful loft to anyone! It was spotless and had every possible amenity. We had a wonderfully relaxing 5-day stay over Easter (just what we needed after the hustle and bustle of Paris). Our boys enjoyed the farm and long walks in the country! Don't even consider staying anywhere else when you are in the Loire Valley! (If this loft isn't big enough for your needs, they have 2 other beautiful properties in Amboise!)

    • My husband and I had a wonderful time staying here on our honeymoon. We never tired of the view and the wonderful sites to see in the Loire Valley. The farm was a wonderful place to stay for a few days after the hustle and bustle of Paris. Steve was a wonderful host as he told us about many places to see and eat in the area. We would recomend this place to anyone!
