Nestled among old growth on Seven Devils Mountain, A Happy Bear Chalet provides a warm, cozy feeling. Warm by the gas log fireplace, enjoy the privacy of two separate entrances, and entertain the children with lots of games and more!!!
Three separate decks provide spectacular seasonal views of Grandfather Mountain and the surrounding valley. The first floor has a full kitchen with all you need for a quick or gourmet meal. The dining room table seats six (includes extra leaf for larger family gatherings). The living room has a new sleeper sofa with a memory foam topper and a matching love seat. Warm by the gas log fireplace as you enjoy the 32” flat panel television with a DVD player and an extensive movie library. The coffee table expands with two fold-down leaves to accommodate board and card games. The DVD player also serves as a CD player for the 2.1 stereo speaker system.
The bedroom on the main level has a new Simmons Beauty Rest king mattress, and its own 26” flat panel television with a built-in DVD player.
The main floor deck has two new rockers with a shared table to enjoy the view. A Grill King Charcoal grill allows for great home cooked barbecue meals.
The upstairs has two full bedrooms with tall ceilings and lots of room. One room offers a queen bed with memory foam mattress topper, small sitting area, balcony with room to enjoy a cup of coffee with your loved one, and, of course, a television and a Playstation 2 with lots of games including Guitar Hero with guitar controller. The Playstation 2 also plays DVDs.
The other bedroom has two twin beds (which can easily be moved together to form a king bed) and is furnished so that children and adults will feel right at home with its own television and Nintendo SuperNes and a VCR for those older movies.
The lower level is also the game room and includes a new queen sleeper sofa. The game room features a large Sony 35" television with five-disc DVD player and a seven foot pool table that rotates into a full-size foosball table. Also provided are a dart board with plastic tips and numerous board games. This level has its own door and deck so that families and friends sharing this rental can come and go without disturbing each other. We've included a desk, computer and printer with internet access as well as wireless internet throughout the house. We also have a brand new flexible flyer for sledding.
Next to the game room is a full sized washer and dryer, storage for your skis and a 1/2 bath.
The side yard has a new fire pit with log seats.
A Happy Bear Chalet has easy paved access, just one block off Seven Devils’ main road, and a flat easy access driveway. Even in winter, access is not restricted as with many other mountain rentals though we strongly recommend four wheel drive or chains for mountain travel and safety.

For Mountain Bikers, there is an abundance of mountain biking near A Happy Bear Chalet. There are many local bike shops in the area like Boone Bike and Touring, 899 Blowing Rock Road
Boone, NC 28607. There are several trails to ride in the Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk areas. The Benson Hollow Trail, located in Blowing Rock, is considered the 2nd “Best Mountain Biking Trail in North Carolina”. Other trails like 18-mile ride and Buckeye Trail are very close to Boone and Blowing Rock and also top the list.
Only ten minutes away, Sugar Mountain Resort provides a lift service to mountain bikers. You can bring your bike and ride the lift up, and practice your downhill skills.
Our own mountain resort, Hawksnest, a five minute bike ride, promises some summer activities which may include lift rides to the top for bikers. Stay tuned.

Why the Owner Chose Seven Devils
After traveling to various parts of North Carolina, we found that we kept coming back to the Seven Devils area. The house is within minutes of food, groceries and gas, and features the Hawksnest Resort. We also loved the small Town of Seven Devils atmosphere with city water, 24 hour police and fire, a great city hall, fast snow removal.
Seven devils We are centrally located between Sugar Mountain/Beech Mountain/Banner Elk and Appalachian Mountain/Blowing Rock. Boone is only 15 minutes away and is a small city with a big heart and a great university, ASU.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet
The view, skiing, tubing, hiking, fall colors and the friendly atmosphere. We love sitting on the back deck drinking coffee or wine and reading a good book. Somedays we get lucky and and a herd of two to seven deer will climb by the Chalet.
The house has a southern exposure so we are on the warm side of the Mountain.
