Absentminded is the perfect vacation home located in the center of the Village of Captiva.
This 4 bedroom/4.5 bath private home comfortably sleeps 12-14 (family members or multiple couples) in a beautifully furnished island style. The house features a three story caged lanai and heated pool with spa and comes fully equipped with great amenities including a pool table on the pool deck! Walking into the main floor of the house, you’re greeted by the Florida sunshine as it streams through plantation shutters into two self-contained living areas: 1) the Den, on the left, offers a large TV, a queen size sleeper sectional, and plenty of other seating or game playing space for the whole family and 2) the Great Room on the right has two linen upholstered sofas flanking the gas fireplace and a mounted 50 inch plasma TV and DVD player, lots of additional plantation-style seating, cathedral ceilings and a wall of windows with French doors leading out to the screened upper living-room lanai and spiral staircase to the pool deck below. The well equipped and large kitchen with breakfast nook and eat-at counter space is inviting for the cook and the take-out crowd alike. The adjacent dining room includes an armoire with stereo equipment, wireless cable modem, an HP All in One, and a dining table with seating for 10 people. The dining room French doors lead out to the private dining lanai with a four person round cafe table and swivel chairs for enjoying a view of the pool below while sipping your morning coffee.
The main floor queen-size bedroom suite has a full bathroom with step-in shower. Take the elevator to the third level and the three additional bedroom suites. The second b/r suites has two twin beds (which may be pushed together to form a king) with a large full bathroom with step-in shower, The third b/r suite has two twins and two trundle twins (to sleep a total of 4 vacationers) & this bathroom has a full size tub for bathing little ones. The king size master suite is huge with a wall mounted flat screen TV and large bathroom with double vanity sinks, jacuzzi tub, separate shower, and dressing table with terry covered dressing chair. Master suite occupants will lounge on the private deck in their “cuddle chairs”. The Gulf of Mexico and Pine Island Sound are both visible from this deck.
The ground floor lower level includes a half-bath powder room convenient to the large three story screened-in entertainment/pool room with a built-in gas BBQ grill, large eating table and swivel chairs, and multiple lounge chairs for lazing around the heated pool and spa. The outdoor pool table and blue and white pool changing room are located on the pool deck.

Thank your for sharing "Absentminded" with our family. We had an incredible vacation. The weather was awesome, the proximity to Andy Rosse Lane and the beach was great for our 4 teenagers. Everything we needed was within walking distance. We really enjoyed eating at the "Bubble Room" - such yummy cake, and "Matzaluna" - great Italian food. Your house is gorgeous- loved the pool! It was great that every bedroom had their own bathroom- no arguing between the girls and boys at shower time! The house had everything we needed for our wonderful stay on Captiva. We will miss being here...this was our first time visiting Sanibel/Captiva...it was more beautiful than expected. Thanks again!

Dear "Absentminded" owner: We have enjoyed a lovely week at your charming Captiva home and are sad to see our vacation end. However we have enjoyed it so much we have been looking at real estate and have put in a offer on a coachhouse at The Renaissance in Fort Myers! We especially enjoyed: a private boat cruise to North Captiva and South Seas Resort Dinner (New Year's Eve) at the Mad Hatter Restaurant Bird watching at Ding Darling Park bike riding, sunset gazing and relaxing at the beach Many thanks and Happy New Year!!!

Stayind in this beautiful house was great. We loved everything about it. The days were very fun. The kids would swim in the pool, play pool on the pool table and play video games. They had a blast. We had wonderful food at the Bubble Room. We recommend you eating there. We would have family over here and they loved Absentminded. Whenever we weren't here we would be at the beach or taking a walk around this beautiful island. Being here and renting a house on Captiva Island for the first time made a great vacation. We would love to come back again. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!

The house was beautiful, the pictures don't do it justice! The space was nice for the 6 of us, especially having a bathroom each! The pool was a godsend on the hot afternoons. The Mucky Duck is recommended, the food was lovely and a brilliant place to watch the sunset. All in all I've had a lovely, chilled out week at Absentminded and hope to return in the future. Marianne

We had a great week and loved the house. This isour fifth visit to Sanibel/Captiva but our first staying on Captiva. Everything was lovely-even the racoon that surprised Neil on the porch! Everyone enjoyed the pool and having their own space. Alan and Jen particularly loved the Master suite - especially the lanai with the cuddle chairs late in the afternoon. Very snug!

The Menendez-Bornia family from London came to celebrate momi and popi's 10 year wedding anniversary. They had honey-mooned here 10 years ago. We loved to find Captiva as peaceful as it's been over the years. The Absentminded is a beautiful home, we loved our afternoons in the swimming pool and overall we had a wonderful time as a family and when it started feeling like home, our time was up to return to London...but cannot wait until next year to come back!

If the waalls of the Absentminded home could speak, the would tell stories of treasured memories created by the Bartons and the Pelletiers between December 8 and December 15, 2007. Our family vacation was filled with love, laughter and carefree dayws spent playing together from sunrise to sunset. The beautiful home was the perfect setting within an island paradis for quality family time. I'm sure the echos of 5 sets of little fee pitterpattering through this home while Uncle Larry chased the kids during "hide and seek" still lingers. Surely the smells of Mimi Barton yummy cooking coming from the well equipped kitchen are still here. Priceless memories created on Captiva Island will remain with us forever.
