Jason was very helpful and was always available for any questions. Barbecue grill, beach chairs, body boards, etc. Everything for a quality time during vacation was available and ready to use. The location of the house is just perfect. It is located in a quiet neighborhood and it is just a 30 second walk from one of the best beaches on Oahu!!! The house needs some repairment and renovation. Cleanness of house could be much better.

Great place for a quiet getaway!
Great place for a quiet getaway!
This property was terrific! It's one house away from Waimanalo beach, which is a great place for a walk, swim, boogie boarding, etc. The location is peaceful - Waimanalo isn't busy like Waikiki and most of the people I talked to on the beach were local (all friendly) rather than visitors. That means there are only a few choices nearby in the way of local restaurants, etc, so this isn't a great venue if that's what you want. But if you want to relax, enjoy nature and the beach, meet a few locals, and enjoy being with your family and friends, then this is a great place to do it. One thing worth noting about Waimanalo is it's on the windward side of the island so frequently there are breezes (which can help cool the house), but can make the beach cool in the early morning or evening. The house grounds are relaxing with a nice deck, outside grill and Jacuzzi as well as an outside shower. There are plenty of beach toys including snorkels, boards, etc. The house was clean and comfortable. The A/C in the bedrooms can cool off your sleeping rooms if you like, or the house gets a nice breeze if you open the windows. We really appreciate the owners making this property available and we would definitely come back here and hope to be able to in the future. Thank you!! P.S. Regarding the review that called the house a cottage - it is 3 BR, 2 BA + a combined living/dining room. It doesn't have the extra rooms a modern suburban 3BR house might have but it's roomy enough for a vacation with 6.

My wife and I, two kids, and two in-laws stayed for a week in this well-equipped house. It was very comfortable and had plenty of room for us. The house was well stocked and we cooked most of our meals there, grill included. Waimanalo is a great quiet location away from busy tourist areas. However it is a relatively short drive to Honolulu. The gorgeous beach was a very short block away. If we ever make it back to Hawaii, we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!

This older home close to the beach is a great location for families. The beach is beautiful and a great place for little ones to play in the water. It was absolutely wonderful to be away from the resort areas.

Great quiet place to stay
Great quiet place to stay
The best part about this place is the location. In a very quiet neigbourhood, very little traffic, and a short walk to the beach, 4 mom/pop places to get food, and eat outdoors, and they all served excellent food, and a lot of it homemade! Also a 711 with fuel, and a McDonalds. The place called Sweet Home Waimanalo was awesome for its healthy food-they were on Diners,Drives,Dives. Keneke's has awesome shaved ice, best I had including the Matsumoto Shave Ice advertised everywhere, in my opinion. About 2 miles down the road, a grocery store, Shimas, and another food place and an ice cream place. I would describe the place as more of a cottage compared to a house, and the short walk photo shown, is a bit over the top. The walk really is down the street, down through a fenced area between the houses on the beach, and then a walk on sand to the beach. Beach is fantastic-quiet, nice sand and beautiful aqua coloured water. One drawback-too many unleashed dogs-they have signs no animals allowed, but it is not enforced. Our grandkids were very uneasy about that as were we at times. Great service - I mentioned one day that the microwave was on the fritz, but no problem we could live with it, but within hours, a new one was delivered. I mentioned to send the delivery people back with a flat screen TV, as there is only the old tube type, but to no avail,- maybe next time he said. Cottage could have been a bit cleaner and ants were a bit of a problem, but if you make sure no food or beverages are left out, no problem. Each bedroom has its own air conditioner, and they worked good. Snorkling stuff available, lawn chairs available, sand toys available, and umbrellas not necessary, as there is lots of shade on the beach. Unfortunately for us, for most of the 2 weeks we were here, it rained, was cloudy and too windy to be on the beach. Locals said it was a bit unusual the winds being so strong. Highlight for my daughter and myself was the 2 hour ATV ride we did at Kauloa Ranch-do the 2 hour not the one hour, that's a must. Shrimp trucks-they all tasted the same to us, but for an experience go to Romy's and ask for their largest prawns-they are sooo big, you can't close the box on them. Reason I say ask, is because I got duped into the smaller ones, as the photos they have on display don't show the difference. I think the bigs ones are only available steamed. Oahu is a beautiful place with beautiful people.

Great place for a quiet vacation
We often go to Oahu, but always stay near North Shore. Wanting to find another quiet place on the island, we ventured to Waimanalo. The house was located in a quiet neighborhood, not far from the beach. It was a wonderful stay in a cute house. Our 3 children had a wonderful time. We would recommend this place for families.

Our family of 6, with a 13 month old, had a wonderful time at Sunrise Beach House in Waimanalo!!! The house was very roomy & the big yard was a bonus! Unfortunately, we had a lot of rainy days during our stay so we were not able to take advantage of the BBQ grill & the big balcony w/ plenty of seating area. We went into the jacuzzi after swimming in the beach which was a great way to relax under a beautiful sky, surrounded by picturesque mountain ranges. The house was equipped w/ washer/dryer, which was a great life saver. Being a family friendly house, they provided baby high chair, beach toys, and baby gates as well. Waimanalo is a secluded beach. It is only 20miles away from Waikiki, yet you feel like you have escaped the bustle&hussle of the big city in no time. With a rental car, you can get to any place on the island w/ no problem. Nearby freeway (Pali 61) makes it very easy to get in & out of Waimanalo During our one week stay, we enjoyed the following places from Waimanalo: 1) kailua / lanikai beach (15mins) 2) doris duke tour/ honolulu art academy (40mins) 3) pali lookout (15mins) 4) north shore / scenic drive. up 83 down H3 (3hours) 5) waikiki, hanauma bay, diamond head, kahala (50mins) ** but mostly the beach house @ Waimanalo!!!! morning walks on the beach to see the sunrise! woken up by birds singing. and the food: 1) Sweet Home Waimanalo on 72hwy had very healthy, tasty food. We frequented there during our stay because of the quality of food but also the convenience. It was only few blocks away. 1-2mins drive 2) we were very sad to go into Mel's Market next to Sweet Home Waimanalo. Very empty and dilapitated. so just go down the street to Shima's for quick shopping. if not, go into Kailua to Foodland. they have good variety of fresh Pokes. we also went to costco in Hawaii Kai 20-30mins away. 3) Buzz's steak house (Kailua15mins) 4) Yanagi Sushi in (Waikiki25mins) 5) People's cafe (Waikiki25mins) 6) Kalapawai cafe (Kailua15mins) 7) Boot's & Kimo for breakfast (Kailua15mins) 8) Assiago Italian (Kailua15mins) 9) Giovanni shrimp truck (north shore60mins) 10) Dole Plantation in central oahu for lunch (40mins) ** coffee shops: morning brew in kailua, coffee gallery in north shore, honolulu coffee co in Manoa Surfrider Hotel Waikiki & rest of the time, we ate at home. If you like to spend your vacation in a relaxed environment but have the option to go into more developed quaint town, Sunrise Beach House is it!

This was the most beautiful beach home we could have stayed in. Our family had a blast with Sunrise being our home base for our many island adventures. We could not have asked for a more perfect and relaxing place to come home to after a long day out on the island. Waimanalo beach is such a beautiful expanse of beach, and my kids (6 and 9yrs) loved it so much we had a hard time getting them to come home for dinner. Thank you so much for making this a memorable hawaiian vacation, and we would love to stay here again when we visit the islands next. We are not looking forward to heading back to the snow!! How do they say it here.... Mahalo and thank you again to Sunrise Beach Home
