Colony I at Oyster Bay in Sunset Beach is located just across the street from the Intracoastal Waterway, and within a few minutes drive to the Atlantic Ocean.
This 2 bedroom, 2 bath villa located on the 2nd fairway of The Oyster Bay Course at Sunset Beach has all the comforts of home. Enjoy beautiful views all aaround from the large, shaded wrap around deck and screened porch.

Taking a scenic drive along the intercoastal passing Bird Island and with in a few minutes you will arrive at the quaint swing bridge to Sunset Beach, the southern-most of North Carolina's Brunswick Islands. The three mile long barrier island is southern coastal living at its best, an uncrowded oceanfront for swimming, surfing, shelling or strolling. The family friendly beach offers a fishing pier, quaint shops, bicycle and kayak rentals and free public parking with a place to rinse the sand off. Also, mini golf and ice cream parlors!
Spend a lazy afternoon strolling the beach for the perfect shell or glimpsing at the dolphins in the water then watch the setting sun melt into the ocean at twilight and be sure to take your kite along with you.

The condo is located on Oyster Bay Golf Course which Golf Digest listed as "Best 50 Public Courses in America."
There are many golf courses nearby, including The Pearl, Thistle, Sandpiper Bay, Sea Trail, Lion’s Paw, Tiger’s Eye, Panther's Run, Crow's Creek, Brunswick Plantation, River's Edge, and Carolina National.
Area places to visit:

Calabash, known as “The Seafood Capital of the World”, famous for its seafood restaurants many located on the waterfront with the fishing boat docks right at their back door. Some are Coleman's Original Calabash Seafood (Jimmy Durante's favorite), Capt. Nance, Dockside or the new Boundary House. And don't miss Callahan’s Nautical Gifts for shopping.

Ocean Isle Beach
Attractions there include The Museum of Coastal Carolina offering the coastal history of the Carolina's. And mini golf, shops, and restaurants such as The Isles, oceanfront and Cinelli’s overlooking the intercoastal waterway both offer indoor and outdoor dining.


A bit further south and a much faster pace:
Myrtle Beach with its many attractions: The Dixieland Stampede, The Carolina Oprey, several shopping and restaurant complexes: Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the Beach also Tanger Outlets and Ripley's Aquarium.
North Myrtle Beach is a short 25 minute drive and downtown Myrtle Beach is within 40 minutes.

  • My wife and I stayed here September 5 thru October 3, 2009. The temps were mostly in the 80's, great weather! We had our convertible, what a place for such a car. Drove to Charleston, SC for a couple of days which is a very nice outing. Most every day we went to Sunset Beach for a 5-8 mile walk. Note - we were in Maui mid July thru September 2008. We preferred Sunset Beach to the beaches in Maui. This VRBO is great: clean, comfortable, nicely decorated and bright with natural sunlight. Would recommend Beach Colony and this no smoking unit to just about anyone. When it comes to eating Calabash is close but most of the food there is very average if one is from a city and likes to eat in nice places. Only negative in my opinion about the area is the eating out options are limited unless you like breaded and fried food, but if that is your preference then you are in heaven. Only place we would recommend to eat is the Boundary House. We have used VRBO for years staying for a month or more in Hilton Head, Pensacola, Napa, Maui, and other places. We certainly would go back to Sunset Beach and consider renting this unit again if available. A good place to relax and have a great time. Owners are easy to work with, a good experience!

  • The condo was perfect! The picture is totally accurate! Perfect setting-shady, beautiful views (through huge window walls)of the golf course and pond (complete with small alligator and many turtles). The pool is just steps away. Everything was very quiet as well. The condo itself was beautifully decorated, appropriate for the beach but not overdone like so many beach homes are. The layout is wonderful! The kitchen is well-equipped and everything works! Even though it's a second floor unit, the steps weren't formidable at all, and we all decided the views were probably best from the second floor! We couldn't have been more pleased!
