We are travelers who thrive on immercing ourselves in our destination. Pau Hana and Carol, our host, shared the beauty of the plantation along with insight into the special care and devotion they provide to grow this magniftcent coffee. The Pau Hana Guest Quarters are lovely, the view breathtaking, and the location fit our needs perfectly. For tourists who desire the beachfront typical condo or resort hotel, this may not fit your needs. We are grateful for their gracious hospitality. For a week we felt like we were almost islanders! Mahalo, Carol - untl we return again ........soon!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

It is obvious much thought has gone into building this unit. It shows in many touches from the lovely tiled bathroom, skylights all over, 2 walls of window and screening, lovingly coordinated with an airy feel to the lanai that overlooks the coffee fields and ocean. The grounds are beautifully maintained. The peace and tranquility is marvelous. I would give this 6 stars if I could and the coffee is wonderful. We are only sorry thAt because of our activities we can't enjoy and evening but I am enjoying the morning! Skies are clearing and you can hear the ocean from here!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The guest quarters are very nice, clean, and well maintained in a coffee plantation. The bed is very comfortable. There is a great view of the coffee plantation and the ocean from your balcony. It is near the Captain Cook town where you can find a few great restaurants and the Kealakekua Bay, where the Captain Cook monument is located and where you can kayak, snorkel, and see dolphins. This was a good location to see the island, it is about 20 minutes from Kona and about 2 hrs from the volcanoes park. I was first concerned that there was no A/C in the unit, but because the property is 2,400 ft above sea level, the temperatures were very pleasant and it was actually cold during the night, nice temperatures to sleep. The owner was very helpful and answered all our questions on a timely manner before and during our arrival. I recommend eating breakfast at the Coffee Shack, big local homemade breakfasts, and in a location with awesome views. Also for lunch or dinner, Annie's Island Fresh burger, great local organic and fresh burgers. Gio's Gelato and Italian Pastry was a very good place for desserts. There is also a Laundromat about 10 minutes from the place in case you need to do laundry. The property is located about 5 to 10 minutes from the main road. I would definitely recommend this place.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Understated elegance. Clean, quiet, comfortable, nice views. Carol the owner, is the perfect hostess. If I make it back to the Big Island, the Pau Hana will be at the top of my list. We would highly recommend. PS - Great coffeeDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/2

We absolutely loved our stay at Pau Hana and wish we had stayed there our entire trip. The sunsets were incredible. The location was perfect. Carol could not have been more lovely and accomodating, and Karl the cat was the perfect coffeet companion. Speaking of coffee, the coffee was amazing. As was the fresh fruit we were welcomed to enjoy all over the property! The guest quarters were immaculate and the entire design was incredible. We actually took lots of notes on things we wanted to do for our own home. We stayed until the last minute, and wish we never had to leave. Thanks so much to Carol for thinking of every detail and providing such an incredible place of respite in paradise. We can only hope to return!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Pau Hana Coffee Plantation is such a beautiful spot, wonderfully maintained by owner, Carol who is so thoughtful and provided so many things such as- shampoo, conditioner, lotion, beach towels, snorkel equipment and her own wonderful 100% Kona Coffee!! The guest quarters were so comfortable, the view was just breathtaking and there were so many amazing birds singing to us each morning, it was just a dream vacation! We found so many great things to fill our days like going to South Point, The Place of Refuge, Black Sand Beach, A whale watching excursion, snorkeling, shopping, a day trip around the Island...too many things to mention and Carol had information on nearly everything! We spent 10 amazing days and wished we would have had come for at least 2 weeks. The next time we visit this Paradise we will plan to come back for another great stay at Pau Hana Coffee Plantation!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is a wonderful spot- very reasonably priced and beautifully maintained. The owner is very thoughtful and has provided many extras such as- shampoo, sunscreen, coffee, filtered water and even bags of delicious avocado! There's even a fabulous hot tub to soak in at night. The only downside is it's a little cool and there is no kitchen, but if you are planning to eat out most of the time and just have a simple breakfast and lunch in the studio- it works out really well. I left my hats in the studio by mistake and Iat was typical of my experience staying with Carol that she immediately said she would mail it to me. No hesitation. Highly recommended, you'll enjoy it!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

This place was Beautiful!!! We stayed here four nights and and we couldn't have picked a better place! The room was spectacular! with great views and beautiful star filled nights! My fiancee would wake up in the middle of the night to look at the stars through the skylight in the room! Carol's coffee is the best i have ever had! The room was very clean and Carol pays great attention to detail! There wasn't one thing that we needed that was not provided! The pineapple, avocados and lemons were excellent! The day we were leaving Carol gave us a wonderful tour of the property and we learned a lot about what goes into growing this great coffee! When we left we were sad to go!! When we come back to the big Island this is where we will stay!! Thanks so much Carol, Your hospitality was an absolute delight!!!! We stayed at Carol's Pau Hana accommodation for 5 nights in May, and it was really delightful. Although it is one room (plus bathroom), the room is much larger than it appears in the photos on her site. Carol was a most gracious host and she's paid much attention to detail in her accommodation to make it pleasant and comfortable. The bathroom was lovely and beautifully decorated with custom tile etchings. It was near snorkeling at Two Step and Place of Refuge. We also found great snorkeling up toward Kailua-Kona. Although it is a 20-30 minute drive to the "town", it was close enough to easily go for dinner there. We ate at some great restaurants in the area. We would unhesitatingly recommend this accommodation! Claire and RichRecommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at Pau Hana last year for 3 nights, and when planning this year's trip back to the Big Island, we didn't even search for another place to stay - you can't get any better than this wonderful place! Carol provides a beautiful, comfortable base for our Big Island adventures. We love kayaking across Kealakekua Bay to snorkel (free permit required to land kayak - easy to apply ahead of time!), and this year had a pod of spinner dolphins surround our kayak and put on an incredible display of spinning and jumping. Fresh home-grown coffee in the morning, stunning sunsets, and a comfortable bed at night. Can't ask for better! Thanks, Carol! Hope to see you again next year......Did you find this review helpful? The property owner Carol is wonderful! Her coffee is amazing (best I've ever had), and the accommodations could not be beat! There was nothing Carol left out- lotion in the bathroom, shampoo, conditioner, snorkle gear, towels, fridge, etc... the views are amazing as well. We stayed for 8 nights and would return again in a heartbeat! She explained the coffee growing process, and really opened up her world to us. It made for a wonderful, relaxing week.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We were in heaven! Fresh coffee, avocados, guavas, papaya, bananas, cool mornings, a personalized coffee primer, a large room with a great view of the distant Pacific and marvelous snorkeling nearby. We could walk down the road and smell the aromas from the local coffee roaster. It was a marvelous experience and a very relaxing three nights. The Big Island is quite the place. Thanks, Carol.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This a very nice, comfortable, and clean place. The pictures and description accurately depict this listing. We appreciated the extra's that the owner provided such as snorkel gear and fins and, of course, the delicious organic coffee that was freshly ground when we arrived. The coffee estate has so many beautiful plants and trees that really add a lot to it. My favorite was the lemon tree right in the front yard. I loved these big, healthy, organic lemons and we were able to eat a few of them. The bed is very comfortable and the interior of the place is just great! We really liked the huge deck but never took the time to get in that big hot tub, unfortunately. This was only because of all the wonderful places we wanted to visit near the coffee estate. The best snorkeling we've ever experienced is in Kealakekua bay at Capt. Cook's monument which is very close. All the wonderful, sunny Kona beaches are close enough to be convenient as well. Our favorite restaurant in the area was definitely Paparoni's in Captain Cook on Mamalahoa. The best pizza and service around! We would definitely recommend Pau Hana Coffee Estate to friends.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed for 2 night in Oct. 2009, This was our last 2 nights on the Islands. We started in Oahu for 10 days and in Kona for 7 and finally 2 here. We have to say yours was the best. You and your family were so nice. Talking to you and just walking around your property was the best. Our little friend one of your cats was so welcoming. The coffee in the morning was great. I still need to order some. We were there for a full moon. We both awoke when it was straight above us in the sky lite. I have a picture I took from bed. It was wonderful. The view was so beautiful. I loved the sounds of nothing. I took so many pictures of all your plants and enjoyed them. The flowers are so beautiful. The pineapples are so pretty. I gonna have to have you sell me the coffee bag art on the wall . I just loved it. Pretty much everything about your place I loved. We were able to relax and enjoy the end of our trip so much. Like I said your was the best of the four we stayed in. Thanks I want to thank you for the Christmas card which we did get in May. our mail in Mexico does take time sometimes. I hope to go back someday and spend a few days again. Your directions were spot on to get to your home. I am glad we went when it was still daylight I don't think we could have found it at night. You had all the books anyone needs to see anything they want on the Island. We loved your place Thanks you so much for ending our Vacation with such a wonderful place.
