Property descriptions were accurate to the tee! The place was immaculate, quite, comfortable and satisfactory -- a true home away from home. Modern and contemporary furnishings found throughout. The area/sorrounding felt very safe, even walking at 1:00 a.m. Landlord (Adrienne) was a pleasure to deal with. Thank you so much for everything!! Ok here are some recommendations: Amadeus Pizza on 8th Ave. between 51st & 52nd is highly recommended to suffice any pizza, subs, pasta, burger cravings or whatever your heart desires. The long list of items from the menu will overwhelm you. There is a twin roll away bed in the closet-- no more than three (3) persons at a time to keep it spacious. The $27 (7 day) unlimited Metrocard was all worthy for our 4 night & 5 day stay. Subway stations and bus stops are 1-4 blocks or 5-15 mins walk depending on which lines you take. City/subway/bus maps, guides, and in person help can be found at the NY Visitor Center on 7th Ave. between 52nd St. & 53rd St. Duane Read (grocery store without fresh produce) is less than 1/2 block away-- so stock up to save some $$$$$. City Pass saved us a lot of time waiting in line and $. Enjoy!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+.

The building and apartment were spotless! The doorman was very helpful, nearby restaurants, groceries, parking garage and bagel shop with in one block. The bed is comfortable. Apartment is as pictured, with furniture rearranged. Lovely balcony. Safe neighborhood, close to theater, Lincoln Center, Columbus Circle. Perfect for 2 people. The landlord made access to apartment very easy. The kitchen is beautiful, great appliances, however I was surprised there was no coffee maker. We did buy a french press and left it there. Some suggestions, coffee maker, tea towels, pot holders for kitchen, bath towels a little worn, and some bath soap would be nice. All in all, we enjoyed our experience here, and would gladly return!Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+.

Unfortunately my experience in renting this apartment was far from ideal. When we walked into the apartment it was immediately evident that it had not been cleaned after the previous guest (bed was unmade, towels were on the bathroom floor, and dirty dishes were on the kitchen counter). I called and emailed the owner to ask what we should do but did not get a response. We considered leaving and trying to find a hotel, but knew that would be difficult (and very expensive) on the spur of the moment, so fortunately we found clean sheets and cleaning supplies and proceeded to clean the apartment ourselves. This included scrubbing the toilet and bathtub, wiping down the kitchen and bathroom counters, mopping the kitchen and bathroom floors, throwing away old newspapers and other refuse, washing the used towels and taking out the garbage. This, as you can imagine, was not the way we expected to begin a long weekend in NYC. Even with the apartment now clean it was obvious that the place was well worn and needs to be updated. There were scuff marks on the walls, blinds that were torn, and an overall dated décor. About an hour later, the owner returned my phone call. He was apologetic and said this had never happened before. At the time he said there was a misunderstanding with the maid and that he would have a maid there the next morning at 9:00 a.m. I told him this would not be necessary since we had already cleaned the apartment. I don’t know what he would have expected us to do the first night had we not cleaned the place. It was at this point that he offered to comp the first night of our stay. We were satisfied with this offer. After we returned home and checked the credit card statement, we found where he had only refunded the cleaning fee. He now says he never agreed to comp the first night and that he had only agreed to not charge us for the cleaning fee. This is not true. He also says, now, that the maid had broken her shoulder so therefore this should justify his only refunding the cleaning fee and not the fist night which was originally offered. This may or may not be true, but if an injury had been mentioned on the night he returned my call, we likely would have been more sympathetic to the situation. But despite what he says now, he did not tell us about a broken shoulder, he offered the first night compensated, and he did not keep his word. I would not rent from this owner again nor would I recommend this property to others.Owner response: As soon as I received the call ,I immediately contacted my cleaning women .could not get in contact with her .I called another women and was sending her to the unit within a half hour .when I called this gentalmen and exspslaind what happened and there is someone coming right over , he was very nice and told me that they already cleaned the unit and there was plenty of sheets and towels . This was a unfortunate problem that happened . He was credited the cleaning fee. With out even asking for a credit of 75.00 dollars . Concidering that he only stayed 1 night in the unit . Should it be for free .

Spent 1 week in Roy's apartment and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The apartment was actually a little larger than expected as it has an entrance hall with bathroom, and kitchen off it before leading into the lounge/bedroom, with a small balcony off this room overlooking the back of surrounding buildings. It was very clean and well maintained, with ample linen in closet. I found the booking process a little difficult, my letters were being returned a few times and I found Roy's manner in his emails a little brash, but on saying this, each time I spoke to him on the phone he was very polite and helpful and the keys arrived about 6 weeks before we arrived. The doormen were very helpful and attentive. The bed is comfortable, the shower is over the bath, but I think the plug system for the bath is disconnected. Pls correct me if I am wrong about this, Roy. The washing machine and dryer are in a closet in the hall and work perfectly. Some suggestions, instructions on how to work the TV, we had no idea how to operate it. A toaster would be useful, and also some teatowels. As stated by other occupants the unit is in a great position with lots of grocery stores, restaurants and subways close by and so close to broadway. And we also felt same in the neighbourhood. We had a great time and would definitely recommend this unit to friends in Australia, thanks Roy..Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+.

We just stayed in this unit August 2012. We had a wonderful stay. The unit was exactly as described. It was clean and had most items you would require like coffee maker, dishes, blow dryer, iron etc. I would highly recommend to anyone coming to New York. The location could not be any better central to everything. 9th ave was full of very affordable and good restaurants just steps away. A few items to note a great pizza place called Amadeus on 8th ave and a great Italian restaurant called Joe g 244 56th street. There was also a wine store just beside the pizza place. We brought our car and parked on 50th ave just three blocks over it was very reasonable in price. Roy was very accomadating and easy to contact.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+.

Wonderful location, clean, comfortable and exactly as pictured. Really a nice place. Owner was helpful and easy to work with. Neighborhood was quiet and felt very safe even in the wee hours of the morning. Lots of great restaurants nearby. Easy walk to subways, theaters, shopping and Central Park. All in all a great stay and we would definitely return.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Our first trip to NYC and using VRBO! Couldn't have asked for anything better. Great location, close to subways and very safe. Loved the unit itself and having a full kitchen and washer/dryer. Things to note: there was only one washcloth and it was really old, so bring your own. And be prepared to purchase laundry soap and toilet paper and handsoap (they weren't stocked in the place when we got there) ALSO: to get the back door to lock on the patio, you need to hold the handle up No complaints here. great rental. will rent from again when we come back....and we will be back.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+.

We just returned from our trip to NY yesterday. I can't say enough about this apartment. It was super clean, good size, and what an amazing location. You are blocks to Central Park, blocks to Times Square, and blocks to subways. We were so impressed. I would highly recommend this apartment. The pictures of the condo are exactly as you see it.Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+.

My husband and I stayed in this apartment in June for a week. We found the location close to everything especially Times Square and Theatres. We walked everywhere from here and its a very safe neighbourhood. The apartment itself is perfect for 2 people. There was plenty of room for 2 big suitcases in the cupboard. It was great to have a washer and dryer in the unit. We found the organic wholefood market at Columbus Circle wonderful for supplies and we used the kitchen (surprising large and well equiped) in the apartment frequently. The doormen were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this apartment for your next stay in NYC.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+.

This property is in an ideal location in midtown Manhattan. We walked easily to Columbus Circle, Central Park, Broadway and the theater district, MOMA, Rockefeller Center and Times Square. It's a half-block to 9th Ave and lots of good restaurants. Also a short walk to the subway. The apartment has a good kitchen, Wifi, 24-hour doorman and good security.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+.
