Everyone has their unique take on what they consider to be a "fair", "good" or "great" place to rent/vacation . . . well, our take is this La Selva home is a "First Class ~ Top Honors" beach house. It is evident as soon as you open the front door that this is not just another ordinary beach rental. The pride of detail, care and ownership shows through out the entire house with the level of upgraded amenities and personal touches. The extent to which the kitchen & pantry are stocked, and the bedrooms & bathrooms appointed are award winning! And the boogie boards, games, videos, flatscreen tv's, gas BBQ and wireless internet access go beyond the expected! Our family including children and grandchildren has vacationed here for two summers and it truly does feel like home-away-from-home. The location, views and immediate access to the beach (albeit by stairs) make it a perfect destination get-a-way. You'll love it . . . we do! MJ is a delight to work with and she really knows how to make you feel comfortable and welcome. Our family of 5 has been renting La Selva Beach town homes (in both Place de Mer & The Shoreline) for the past 6 years or so and this is BY FAR the nicest unit we've ever had the pleasure of staying in!! The house is so well taken care of that you do not feel like you are in a rental at all...it feels like you are a guest in someone's well loved home. There was ample room for all 5 of us (and for 7 of us for a few nights), the beds were very comfortable, the kitchen was enjoyable to prepare meals in, the amenities in the entire home exceeded our expectations, the location cannot be beat...I cannot say enough good things about our experience here! The photos shown on VRBO are true depictions of the property, though it's even better in person! In addition, the unit was very clean, well maintained and well appointed. I would not hesitate to recommend this beach home to anyone! Thank you so much to the owners for making their lovely beach home available to those of us who dream to someday own a piece of this coastline ourselves :)Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

So..allow me to begin by explaining that I am pretty high maintenance. Some might even call me "difficult." when it comes to travel. I want what I want when I want it. And for this weekend, I wanted an unobstructed, fabulous view, steps to the beach, nice, non-tacky decor, comfortable bed and a home that was more like someone's home than a rental. This place DELIVERED. From the well-stocked kitchen/pantry (spices, sugars, oil and vinegar, coffee filters and DUAL pots) to the wonderful view on the patio (that looks smaller than it really is) to the supersoft master room bedding to the tower fan I needed because Im always warm, to the selection of pots, pans, cookware....to the binoculars on the shelves and the digital cable on the flatscreen...to the recommendations by the owner, as well as the books with menus and local activities and dining information... I was truly happy. I have rented from MANY places in my time..and this was absolutely one of the best, most comfortable places I have stayed at. Looking forward to going back! NOTE: If you have someone disabled, or with arthritis or some kind of injury...this probably wouldn't work because of the sheer # of steps throughout... but otherwise REALLY great.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

This is our second time to stay at the La Selva Beach house. It is a perfect fit for our six adults and three small children family. There is plenty of room for all of us to sleep, eat and relax. The kids love playing on the beach - they could play in the sand all day. The house is beautifully furnished with everything we need for eating in. MJ is great to work with - no problems at all. The view of the ocean and the sound of the waves are wonderful! We can't wait to come back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Loved the townhouse, the location, the sound of the ocean, the great amenities. We ate, shopped, played games and generally relaxed and unwound. I am looking forward to renting the place with my 3 sisters for a sister weekend.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We just spent a couple of days here and it was not near enough time! The unit was just as described - newly remodeled, clean and comfortable. The decor was welcoming and fully accomodating. It was well stocked and well maintained. You can tell that the family who owns this unit appreciates the value of its location and is anxious for others to enjoy it as well. There are info books placed around the house which provides tide info, local bird info and even a book of recipes! TWe WILL be using this unit in the future - we are grateful for the family who is willing to share their home with us. It was a wonderful stay and we are already planning another for next year!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our group of four couples fell in love with this location; and the beach is not crowded. We viewed sea otters, sea lions, dolphins, and surfers from the deck; and enjoyed nightly bonfires on the beach. It was a great base to have as we visited the Monterey peninsula, Big Sur, and explored Santa Cruz. PLanning on coming back sometime in the summer of 2011. What a wonderful house you have! We had such a great time - the rain even added to the event! Everything we could have possibly wanted or needed was in one cupboard or another. I will definately be back! I just wanted you to know that of all the many houses I have rented in my life, yours was the most comfortable. We loved all the family pictures and personal touches and really felt like we were at home. Thank you so much!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We LOVED this beach house. It's tastefully decorated and fully stocked. It's more comfortable than my own home. The view and sound of the ocean are the best! My family and I had a wonderful, relaxing vacation at this fantastic beach house. Took care of it like it was our own. My 4 1/2 yr. old grandson cried when we were leaving. Hello, My parents rented this house for all of us children/grandchildren this summer. It was gorgeous!! I can not say enough about the house, amenities, view, etc. We will be back for sure. No picture OR description could do this rental justice. It is beautiful, luxurious, contains any convenience you could imagine, and the perfect setting for a dream vacation. 8 adults DO fit very comfortably. The owners were helpful and professional with all my questions. I highly recommend this rental (just not on a time that we want to go back!)Owner response: Thank you for your comments.
