My husband and I, as well as our 2 adult children spent the Christmas holiday week at Martine's lovely apartment. Martine was extremely accommodating and helpful, answering any questions I had in a prompt manner. My son had a very early arrival, and Ricky was so kind to meet him at the apartment very early in the morning. The apartment is spacious, bright, and spotlessly clean. We had plenty of room for 4 people. The beds were really comfortable. The kitchen is well supplied, although we did not cook while there.Unfortunately, we did not use the lovely garden area, as it was too chilly. The location is perfect-- a block from the Avenida station, and really within walking distance of all of the old town sights. There are a number of small shops and a bakery just down the block, where we purchased our supplies for breakfast and lunch. There were also many restaurant choices within a 10 minute walk on the eating lane of Rua das Portas de Santo Antao. We would highly recommend Martine's apartment --thank you Martine for a great stay!

Fantastic Upscale, Centrally-Located Lisbon Boutique Apartment

My companion and I stayed at this wonderful apartment in September. As frequent travelers to Europe, we are always looking to stay at a reasonably-priced historic property, yet with all the modern conveniences. This place completely fits the bill! The apartment is just a stone's throw to Lisbon's main, leafy thoroughfare, and near all the central Lisbon sights. The neighborhood has all the necessary conveniences nearby (a pharmacy, an electronics shop [we needed a converter plug], a nearby shop for our food staples, as well as ample shopping and dining options. The subway is nearby, allowing quick access to other parts of town. As an added bonus, Martine's colleague Ricky provides helpful information about the city. Once we entered the doors of this apartment, we felt that we were in a "home away from home". The owner has gone the extra mile to refurbish the apartment in an attractive manner. The bedroom was very comfortable, and the open kitchen and separate dining area were perfectly proportioned to sit every morning having breakfast, looking straight out to the leafy patio garden at the back of the apartment. There are also two sitting/living room areas that provide other cozy angles for relaxing in the apartment. I spent many hours in the garden itself, even climbing up a small ladder to sit atop the owner's storage shed, soaking in the rays, and gazing at the neighboring buildings and activity. We also ate meals in the garden, which was a rare treat for a private apartment in Lisbon. I definitely recommend this place to other discerning travelers, and will definitely return.

Great location...right off the Avenida and close to the old city. The apartment is as nice as the pictures and description say it is. The property is clean and well-maintained. The courtyard is a real plus and added to our enjoyment of the apartment. I would enthusiastically recommend this apartment to my family and friends. A couple of nearby restaurants that we liked were Cervejaria Ribadouro (loved the grilled tiger shrimp) on the Avenida and Bonjardim just off the "Eating Lane" for roast chicken.

Nous avons passé quelques jours très agréables dans cet appartement où on se sent immédiatement "chez soi"! Un accueil parfait avec gentillesse et écoute! Tout est là pour que tout soit bien rien ne manque! L'endroit est idéal comme point de départ de visite. Les commerçants alentours vraiment pratiques et prêts à rendre service. Un double vitrage dans la chambre rendrait cet appartement vraiment merveilleux! A très bientôt parce que si nous revenons à Lisbonne nous reviendrons dans cet appartement avec beaucoup de plaisir.

Magnifico apartment. Well located, to meters from the Avenue of the Libertade. Near the restaurants and tourist places of importance. A master bedroom of a large-scale the same as the bathroom with all the comforts. The courtesy of Martine and effectiveness of Henrique have done to pass a magnificent time in Lisbon. To recommend and back. Thank you.

We stayed in the apartment for 5 days. It is even better than it looks in the listing. Perfect location, very spacious, clean and the backyard patio was a huge bonus!. Found a fabulous restaurant around the corner (no name on it). Our favourite place to visit was the Oceanario aquarium, easily accessible by the Metro. I would highly recommend this apartment!

Great Apartment in Lisbon

We were so happy to arrive and see this apartment. It immediately made us feel we were in a good place. It was clean, light and furnished nicely. The shower is better than ours at home! We enjoyed the backyard patio. The beds were comfortable. Excellent dishes and silverware. The neighborhood has tiled sidewalks and cobblestone streets. There is a nice market nearby. The metro was close. It is an easy walk to all the neighborhoods mentioned in the description. The internet was fast and worked well. One tip in general. The taxi from the airport even with three bags should be 10 Euro. When we verified this with the taxi driver before we got in it was no problem. Otherwise they took advantage of us twice and charged 18 Euros. I hear it is a common scam. I will say the people of Lisbon and Portugal were very friendly and helpful. The Modern Art Museum is a must see. There are some great exhibits there.

Two of us stayed at this lovely, well-appointed and perfectly located apartment in Lisbon. Restaurants and food shopping were very close by and no car was necessary. We were looked after very well by our greeter and if we are able to return to Lisbon we would certainly know where to stay!! Highly recommended.

My friend and I spent 8 days in Lisbon right after Christmas into the New Year and this apartment was just what we wanted. Clean, spacious, well appointed and in a terrific location. Near the metro and within walking distance of so many lovely areas. Our host and greeter couldn't have been more helpful. I want to go back.

My wife and I stayed at this lovely apartment in central Lisbon in mid-October 2009. The owner has completely renovated and furnished it. It is very comfortable and a great location. There is a very comfortable master bedroom, a small guest room and a convertible sofabed in the living room. The bathroom is spotless and spacious. She put in a new shower with an enormous showerhead that I wanted to take home. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a washing machine and a dishwasher. There is a nice dining area and table for six, and several sitting areas in the living room areas. In the rear there is a garden with beautiful flowers and plants and a table for outdoor dining. This apartment is located a couple of blocks off the Avenida. It is about a 5 to 10 minute walk to great restaurants and shops. We walked everywhere in Lisbon, although there is public transit nearby. The neighborhood is safe and quiet. We enjoyed visiting Barrio Alto, Chiado and Alfama, but this is a perfect spot to return to after an evening out. Martine, the owner, has a friend, Ricki, who will meet you and show you around. He is great. He was waiting at the apartment when we arrived, he gave us the tour, explained how to work everything, told us about the neighborhood and where we could buy groceries, etc. He gave us great suggestions on where to go and what to do in Lisbon. Having lived in the States for years, Ricki's English is fluent. Altogether, this was a great place to stay and a wonderful experience. We cannot wait to return to Lisbon because there is so much we did not have a chance to see or do.
