Owner's Map of Hayes Valley

I live in the upper unit in the building, so I know the neighborhood very well and can help guide you. I love to explore all that San Francisco has to offer, and to share my findings with visitors. I bike to work most days, and look forward to hearing what you discover while you're in San Francisco!

Great Place - Excellent Location

My wife and I recently stayed here for our first (but not last) trip to San Francisco. The apartment was very charming with all the necessary amenities. The description is exactly correct including that it is in a quiet neighborhood within an easy walk to several excellent restaurants, a muni bus stop (100 feet from the door), or a quick cab ride to the BART/MUNI station. I highly recommend this place, as well as, 1: Beach Blanket Babylon (think Second City in Chicago but a musical) 2: North Beach Restaurant 3: San Francisco Movie Tour 4: buying a City Pass 5: R and G's Lounge 6: Stacks for breakfast 7: Flippers is good too Bob and Anne from Indiana

Great Place to Stay!

We came for the first week of May and couldn't have planned for better weather! The apartment was very easy to find from the airport, it just took a couple of minutes to find a parking spot but that can be expected anywhere in the city! Once we arrived everything was great! Lisa has done a fantastic job with laying out all of different activity guides and places to see. The place was very clean and larger than expected! We took public transportation to everywhere in the city and only drove when we decided to take a trip down to Monterrey and up to Napa. I would highly reccomend Lisa's apartment to anyone who is thinking of staying in the city. It has all of the items that you need plus much more! Thanks for everything and we will reccomend to everyone who is planning on visiting.

Perfect in every way!

Our family just returned from San Francisco last night after a wonderful 4 night stay at this rental. We were so very pleased with the rental and it was hard to leave. We were there for Bay to Breakers, which one member of our family participated in. The rest of us took a short walk over to Hayes St. and watched the race, while enjoying croissants and lattes from La Boulange. San Francisco requires a lot of walking and so, to be able to return to "home" rather than a hotel room, after a long day, is a huge blessing....especially with a tired five year old. Lisa, the owner, has appointed the apartment with a TV, DVD player and DVDs, internet connection and even children's books. We were able to eat breakfast and have fresh coffee and tea without having to get showered and out the door first. Down comforters, heated towel rack and and an outdoor patio are more creature comforts included in this lovely rental. The location and price are fantastic too. Lisa, may thanks again for offering up your lovely home and we will be back soon. Judy, Paul, Mina and Reese.

Wonderful Week in San Francisco!

I rented Lisa's apartment for three nights in May. My mom needed a place to stay while visiting me in the city and this spacious apartment was perfect for her! I didn't have to worry about her comfort when I went to work in the morning. She could walk down the street through the heart of Hayes Valley for great food, boutiques and transportation to other areas of the city. Lisa was an attentive and accommodating host throughout the reservation process. We'll definitely rent from her again when my family returns to San Francisco.

I loved this apt. It was just perfect for our family. It is easy to get to from the freeway and it is close to everything in the city. The neiborhood and Hayes st. were great. This place would be good for a couple who wanted a romantic get away or for a family with kids.

Incredible location, nice big charming place. Lisa has created such a welcoming environment that very quickly feels like home. Kitchen is great - well stocked with utensils, etc. Even a grinder for coffee snobs like me. My writing partner and I were inspired to finish our latest draft here! Will be back form sure!

Why Stay Anywhere Else?

Guest: The Vancouverites (North Vancouver, BC)
Date of Stay: 03/12/11 Review Submitted: 03/20/11

We are in withdrawal. We have just returned from a mother/daughter week's vacation in San Francisco, and this apartment figured largely in our delightful time there. Lisa is just the kind of neighbor everyone wished lived next door -- generous, helpful, oh so kind, but not intrusive. The location is ideal in trendy Hayes Valley. We relied solely on transit and that was the right decision. The #21 bus to downtown is 1/2 a block away. The #22 to the Marine District is two blocks away. The #47 to Fisherman's Wharf is four blocks away. The apartment has everything you need and is cosy and warm, but quite spacious. Two - four people can easily spend a week here. The restaurants in the area are top notch, the bakery is fabulous, and although one reads much about 'the painted ladies', we were more impressed with the Victorian architecture just around the corner! Why anyone would stay in a characterless hotel room for more than twice the price is a mystery to me. We would love to return next year.

perfect family home while in SF

Guest: Maria (Greater Toronto, ON, Canada)
Date of Stay: 01/13/11 Review Submitted: 01/28/11

My husband & I, and our 3 kids (aged 7, 5, and 5mos) spent 7 great days in SF. We attended a wedding in Palo Alto on the weekend & spent our other days exploring the city. The apartment had all the conveniences of home: heaters & thick duvets for the cool winter nights, ironing board & iron to press dressy outfits, and a grinder & coffee maker to get us going in the morning. It was clean & wellmaintained. The owner was very welcoming and informative about the neighbourhood etc. isa even went to the trouble of getting us a travel playpen or the baby to sleep in! The apartment was very close to public transport, although the walk to the wharf took just over an hour. One afternoon we checked out Haight-Ashbury, Alamo Sq, and Golden Gate Park all on foot. We did the walk to Union Sq a few days in a row too. We borrowed a relative's Cherokee while in SF for getting out to the wedding etc. And always found parking, although sometimes a 10min walk away. Unless you need to get somewhere that the Caltrain, BART, or muni doesn't go; I discourage renting a vehicle... you'll be so absorbed in driving through traffic & watching for signs that you'll miss the charm of the city. I highly recommend renting Lisa's flat to anyone looking for an urban vacation in one of the most picturesque cities in North America.

Excellent Property & location

Guest: Larry & June (Wichita, KS)
Date of Stay: 10/21/10 Review Submitted: 10/27/10

This was our first visit to SF and we made the right decision in staying in this "home away from home" instead of a hotel. Lisa, the owner, seems genuinely interested in helping to make your visit and stay enjoyable. She was prompt to answer any questions. The property is accurately described and photographed. Very clean and comfortable. Transportation easy with bus stop only half block away. Visited all the local restuarants and never had a bad meal. Neighborhood feels safe and very friendly. Would recommend this to anyone

Lovely home from home in great area

Guest: Jans (Colchester, UK)
Date of Stay: 07/23/10 Review Submitted: 09/05/10

The apartment is much more spacious than it appears in the photo's and we spent a great month here and did not feel ready to leave. The neighbourhood is lovely with bars, restaurants and shops to suit all. We did find any other neighbourhood that we liked as much. The closeness to the trolley buses 21 and 5 meant you could get almost anywhere you wanted to without taxis or own car. It was only a $35 dollar/20 min ride to the airport with lots of bags. The place was clean and lots of cooking utensils and Safeway at the end of the road meant we ate in a lot more than we planned. Lisa, the owner, lives upstairs and was extremely helpful but not intrusive. The only negative point we can think of is being a basement the apartment is naturally quite dark but lots of lighting and a park just next door makes this fine.
