This house has been named WILD ACRES since the early 1900's. The original part of the house was built in the 1700's and was moved to it's current location in 1947 and has seen continual additions and improvements ever since. The house has a lot of downeast charm and character from it's many years of use and is furnished with a mixture of antiques and more modern furnishings.
Wild Acres sits high above the water on a crescent shaped cove. The views to the south and west are breathtaking. There is a grassy path to the right which takes you to Christmas Cove and the dock, and another grassy path down the hill which leads you over the rocks to the crescent shaped cove in front of the house.
Upon entering the driveway you see the two car garage under the house. Coming up the stairs from the garage you enter the living room which is quite large and can easily accommodate the occupants of a full house. The dining room is at the far end of the living room. It has a large 4’ X 8’ pine table and seating for ten. In the corner there is an antique Franklin Stove and next to the table is a couch to lay down on if you have had too much to eat.
This is the only room in the house which has not had a ceiling put in which gives those rainy days a little more atmosphere with the sound of raindrops on the roof. The kitchen is close by off the living room and though small has served us well in entertaining many a large party. It includes two sinks and a dishwasher and plenty of utensils.
Above the garage is the master bedroom and a guest room with two singles. Opposite the master bedroom is a full bath. Upstairs are three more bedrooms, one with a queen, one with twin singles and the third with a ¾ bed.
There is a small bath with shower at the end of the hall. The bedroom with the queen bed has access to a large deck overlooking the water. This house sleeps up to nine and has two baths. In the basement is a washer and dryer.
The porch in front of the living room faces the water and has tables and chairs for a house full of people. There is a charcoal grill on the porch. Rock gardens with flowers are between the house and the water aside a grassy slope to the cove. On the path to the dock there is a bench and scenic sitting area shaded in the tall pines looking out at the mouth of the Sheepscot River and Seguin Island.
The paths, beach and rocky coastline offer plenty to do and see outdoors. The feeling of privacy while walking the paths and fields makes this a unique property. The dock is in Little Christmas Cove where it is very protected. The beach is at the other end of the property a short walk down an old road which is now just used as a trail.
