Large, restored 19th century stone house in a lovely Provencal village with a very private, tree-shaded garden and pool. (Pool has security around it to protect children, which is required in France.) Shady terrace with barbecue and comfortable dining outdoors. Glass enclosed veranda with a ping pong table for rainy days (which never happens in the South of France). Ground floor has a large, equipped kitchen, charming dining room, living room, toilet and bath with a shower. First floor has four bedrooms, including two with queen beds, one with twin beds and another with bunk beds, as well as a bathroom with tub and toilet.
Two minutes from the front door of the house is the charming village of Vers Pont du Gard, a lively destination with all kinds of convenient shopping, include a cafe, epicerie, boulangerie and news stand. Vers is about 15 minutes to the elegant city of Uzes, former home of the author Lawrence Durrell and current home of last Duke of France. Uzes has a famous Provencal food market every Saturday, lovely shops, antiques, art galleries and a plaza that draws tourists from around the world, all year round. Our house also is a short drive to Avignon and many other Provencal villages that host festivals every summer, with theatre, dance, opera, jazz, photography and a lot more.
This house has been in our family for four generations and we still use it for vacations when we want go paddling or spend a few days in the countryside. We'll be happy to tell you all about fun things to do. We speak French, as well as some English, German and Italian -- well enough to help you find what you're looking for on holiday in the South of France.
