1 1/2 story, Tin roofed ,Cabin Style, house with large rocking chair front porch and it's log beam features through-out creating character and a genuine rustic look. Many furnishings have Native American Indian paterns and accents. A Country Home with lots of shade, privacy and a private Hot Tub- located in the Western NC Mountain Foothills near the NC/SC state lines. Easy access from interstates I-85 & I-26 or US Hwy 74 bypass. and NC Hwy 9s. Cabin location is near NC towns of Tryon, Columbus, Saluda, Hendersonville and Asheville. Also, convenient to SC towns of Landrum, Spartanburg and Greenville. 20 mins. or less to the ever popular Foothills Equestrian and Nature Center (FENCE). and it's many annual sponsored events.

In the winter, US Hwy 74 East to NC hwy 221 North -for direct route to some of the WNC local ski areas like Beach and Sugar Mountains and Boone, NC.

Homes location offers convenience to many local amenities and vacation type attractions including: Foot Hills Equestrian and Nature Center (FENCE) which includes scheduled Kids Day-camps in summer ; Local River tubing (ages 4 and up) on the nearby Green river and white water rafting in nearby Saluda.

Local Zoo in a natural settting with a Safari ride where you can actually feed the animals out on the range. Many retired movie and TV-commercial animals now reside at this zoo after having sucessful careers and being seen by thousands of viewers over the years. See how many you can recognize !

Nearby shopping including chain-type grocery stores, various style restaurants and antique store shopping are only minutes away. There's also a large shopping mall with multiplex theatres in Spartanburg (less than 30 mins.); area Golf courses, water falls, both pond & lake fishing (including sport fishing on Lake Adger -if you bring your boat.) Parks, hiking, swimming at Lake Lure beach, famous Chimney Rock Park in Hickory Nut Gorge with it's high elevation Look-out area. Annual events such as the annual Block House Steeple Chase race in April (appx. 18,000 attend). In June, the annual, State Barbeque and Music Festival (appx. 18,000 attend). In the Fall, the ever popular, Annual Fall foilage colors in the Mountains, beginning around mid-late October. The cabin's interior features: Queen size, brass bed in main bedroom on first floor. Two Twin size beds in second bedroom directly across the hall from main bedroom (and next to main bathroom with "claw foot" bath tub/shower).

Great Room/Living area has large brick fireplace, Native American decor and sofa bed on first floor and adjoins the Eat-in kitchen with wood burning "pot belly" type wood burning stove. Second story, Loft suite (full ceiling height) bedroom has queen size bed and adjoining "closet" style bathroom with shower. Game table and second sofa bed, seating area adjoins Loft bedroom. House has a large front porch with 3-4 person hot tub (exclusively for responsible adults, 18 yrs./ older).

Year Purchased: 2004

Retiree from the Department of Defense, enjoying Nature and the non-existence of traffic. Minimal traffic lights and just occassional crowds for special annual attractions.
The Bible Belt is a great place to live and visit. It offers a low crime rate, great Churches and Schools and friendly people. The proximity to it's North and South Carolina towns, antique stores, malls and three airports (within an hours drive) is very convenient too. I especially enjoy meeting honest, responsible type people and sharing information with folks not yet familar with this area. I work in my own Real Estate practice and specialize in the sale of Acreage for future home-sites or for investment (including IRS sect. 1031 Exchanges).
I enjoy using my experience and knowledge of the area -to find folks second homes, a farm, cabins and reasonably priced / excellent care accomodationsfor their ageing parents if tacompanying them in a relocation move to this area.
I'm an avid animal lover who raises birds including Pea fowl and enjoys the companionship of a dog or two. I'm a Christian, a Realtor and enjoy working as a Board member on the Polk County Planning Board. I especially enjoy the local Southern culture and the overall popularity of the homeowners for maintaing the Rural Character of the County. I enjoy the seasonal climate changes, abundant Nature scenes and wild animal life along with God's incomparable creations like the mountain peaks and waterfalls. It's also interesting and enjoyable to partake in local customs, hearing the folklure and enjoying the music, art and unique attractions offered in these parts.. I have found this particular part of North Carolina very accessable to the larger cities like Hendersonville or Asheville, NC and Spartanburg or Greenville, SC. Being near the SC border has its perks too considering SC gasoline prices (much more economical than many staes gasoline prices that are taxed too high.

It's Clean air, Pristene rivers and it's proximity to many amenities, vacation type attractions and easy access to nearby interstates I-85, I-26, I-40 and US Hwy 74. Within 30 mins.of a nice, newer, shopping mall with multiple movie theatres and many new stores; a nearby North and South Carolina visitor center.. Local Golf, Equestrian shows, Horse racing, fishing, a unique zoo with a family (feeding) Safari ride, more golf, Chimney Rock State park, and ever popular, Lake Lure and it's family style beach nestled in a beautiful mountain valley. Also enjoy Mountain range scenery, hiking trails, family parks and a couple of nearby water falls to visit and enjoy. Easy access to higher elevations for Ski season, two local airports plus Charlotte International airport, plentiful hospitals and restaurants all nearby..
