Remembering A Great Stay In Rockport Massachusetts

My husband and I recently spent five weeks in 'The Jewel' in Rockport, Mass. It was a great experience and we want to give a tip of the hat to the owner, Deborah. She made every aspect of our stay perfect. The Jewel itself is aptly named, as it is intimate, spotless and extremely comfortable and could hardly be better situated in the town--which is also something of a jewel itself for those who have never visited. We enjoyed many evening sitting on the rocks of the old (and completely non-commercialized) wharf, just 50 yd. out the front door. We have used VRBO many times but have never had any better experience than our stay in the Jewel. It's a sweet, special spot. And I nearly forgot to mention the four front windows look out onto the sea which is pretty awesome all by itself. Thanks, Deborah.

My husband and I stayed for the month of September, 2011 in Rockport at the Jewel and were absolutely thrilled with the apartment, the location, the neighbors and the owner (who could not have been nicer or more accommodating). The location is amazing! We loved walking out and being right in the middle of wonderful shops, galleries and harbors full of boats. We cooked in most nights in the fabulous kitchen with it's spacious granite counter. We looked out over the harbor as we prepared all the fresh fish and lobsters and we decided there wasn't a restaurant around with as nice a view as we had at our own lovely table right in the apartment. We enjoyed all the amenities like the stacked washer and drier, very nice furnishings and roomy bathroom, and I particularly loved the overall lighting in the apartment . Also, a big plus for us was the ample parking as we have a cross-over Lincoln MKX that we had driven up from Florida. It was right at our doorstep and the other tenants were so kind as to make sure we had plenty of room getting in and out of the space. All the people we met were so friendly and it was fun chatting with other travelers who ventured down to the pier to take in the beautiful scene. We definitely want to return to Rockport and the Jewel would be out first choice.

The location is right in downtown Rockport, which is great. The apartment is very small and in need of some maintenance. The dishwasher seemed on the fritz and a dining room chair was broken. The parking is difficult for a regular sized car, and getting parked in by other tenants does happen. The noise from other units was annoying at times; you could hear their dogs/music/arguments and alarms going off. The bottom tenants had a lot of people coming and going and tourists do walk to the wharf all day long, so privacy is limited. The cookware supplied is very limited as well.

We had a marvelous stay at "The Jewel." The apartment is beautifully appointed, well supplied and filled with touches of hospitality. The location could not be better, just a short walk to the bustling streets of Rockport. The view of the water is a bonus. Deborah is lovely and most helpful. We would recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a relaxing, comfortable stay in the lovely town of Rockport, MA
