Welcome to Les Bourdas - a charmingly restored farmhouse and guesthouse in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Our little village of Vidouze boasts a mayor's office, post office and school. The locals all agree that Les Bourdas, sitting just above the village, has the best view of the valley!
We are at the confluence of a number of diverse regions of the southwest - the majestic Pyrenees, the rolling Basque hills, the surfing beaches of Biarritz, the Armagnac region of the Gers, the pine forests of the Landes, the cave-filled countryside of the Dordogne, the Madiran wine region and northwest Spain, including San Sebastian, Bilbao and the Rioja wine region. This tranquil retreat is an ideal base from which to explore the entire southwest.
The house has been carefully restored to a very high standard, all the while retaining the lovely original features that so entranced me at the start - oak beams, wood floors, plaster walls and fabulous tiles. The main house is an open plan comprising the kitchen, dining area and living room, with a bedroom opening onto the terrace and a full bathroom. Upstairs is a double bedroom, and spacious loft area with a double bed.
The guesthouse is also an open plan room with a screened double bed, separate bathroom and full kitchen. Both houses are spacious yet a manageable size, and each is fully equipped with all standard appliances, household items and linens, and tastefully furnished throughout with antiques.

Why the Owner Chose Armagnac Region
I had a good idea of what kind of area and property I wanted when I first started my enjoyable search for a french home. It didn't take long to realize that Les Bourdas met all my wish-list requirements - a rural, hilly location that was private yet not isolated; an old farmhouse with a guest cottage, plus huge potential for the garden. As a landscape architect, the view and garden potential was just as important as the houses themselves.

Sitting on the terrace watching the ever-changing sunlight on the church and hills, glass of wine in hand, sheep in the field below, being serenaded by the birds - bliss.
