We came to Ocracoke for a getaway from home responsibilities, it has been more than we ever hoped for. This cottage keeps growing on us - don't want to leave! The cottage is charming. It gave us each privacy and yet common area. We adored eating on the lower deck and grilling outside. We found all the dishes, cooking utensils and even spices we needed. Everything was immaculate! Love the decor - kept finding a wall art I hadn't taken in fully. We visited every shop that was open - great breakfast at Dajio, Thai Moon take out was perfect on a rainy night. Loved Zillie's. Obviously, I could go on and on about our week but this fabulous dwelling enhanced our stay. The people here are so down to earth, personable and full of information. My husband spent time visitine with the shopkeepers as I perused the wares! We did take a day to Hatteras and enjoyed the lighthouses but couldn't wait to return to 'our island'. Thank you Steph and Larry for providing such a lovely, comfortable accommodation. If everyone enjoyed this stay as much as we did, the island would become quite crowded!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I was looking for a clean, comfortable and safe place to go to recharge and found it with this cottage. It was better than I could have hoped for. Clean and nicely appointed; with all the comforts. Convenient location for biking in town and kayaking the canals and marshes. The owner was accommodating and very helpful before and during my stay.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Me and my wife stayed a week in this wonderful house on Ocracoke. Very well equipped home, very comfortable. The description is very accurate, the property is very clean and well maintained. There is lots of spread out room. It was one of the best vacation trips we have ever made. I highly recommend this house if you are looking for a quiet beach experience. The owner is very nice and easy to work with. I give this an A++++++!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This rental was perfect for two people and in our opinion the owner is modest in the property's description. My husband and I, both in our 60's, love to walk and we found the location perfect for a brisk walk to town, and even as a base for a long but utterly spectacular and indescribable ocean side walk to South Point. The property is cleaner than any rental we've ever stayed in, including fancy hotels and maybe even our own house! The owner was more than helpful and available throughout the rental process, and the amenities are endless, (including things like a coffee grinder, tea kettle, and other unexpected but thoughtful tools). The owner has provided a large and interesting collection of books and movies on VCR and DVD, and I enjoyed the upstairs writing desk, WiFi for my iPad, and a nap on the chaise in the upstairs sitting room. My husband and I were impressed with the quality of the interior and the owner's choice of making the upstairs into one very large bedroom with bath rather than divide it into two small bedrooms. My husband admired how solidly built the house is and he particularly enjoyed the wonderfully warm and well joined interior woodwork. We would recommend this rental to anyone and we plan to use it again. Including the walk to South Point, (4 1/2 hours round trip walking; you could drive part way), we would recommend a leisurely walk through the Springer's Point Nature Reserve located just off Loop Road. We spent some time there doing sketches of and enjoying the old maritime forest, spectacular water views, and the undeveloped space. We cooked-in using the well equipped kitchen and ate out several times at our favorite restaurant on the Island, Jason's. This house is a perfect place for a couple to find togetherness with enough space for a little privacy if needed, and at a great price.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

I’m kind of picky, and I don’t have a single bad thing to say about this place. If we go back to Ocracoke, I won’t even bother looking at other rentals. This is a super-clean, nicely decorated property at a very reasonable rate. It’s a great size for a couple, and the master suite is spacious. Washer and dryer, a nicely equipped kitchen, wireless Internet access, a king-sized bed, and all linens provided = a really easy, excellent experience. Plus, the owner was helpful and responsive. A+.Recommended for: Romantic getaway
Owner response: Thanks, Cadence, we're so glad you enjoyed your stay. The off season is a wonderful time to be on the island, please look us up again if you're ever in the neighborhood!

My husband and I were lucky enough to rent this cottage at the last minute for a weekend getaway and it more than met all of our expectations. The location is perfect, very quiet and just a few streets away from all the activity. Although we didn't use it, the kitchen is large and well equipped. We spent quite a bit of time lounging on the back deck, enjoying the breeze. The bedroom is spacious and airy and the king sized bed sleeps quite well. We rented bikes and were easily able to get around to all of the restaurants, shops and sights that we wanted to see. We enjoyed breakfast at the Ocracoke Coffee Company, lunch at Howard's Pub and dinner at the Atlantic Cafe (don't skip dessert!). This cottage is truly a gem, perfect for couples (of any age, we're in our mid-twenties) to share a romantic week/weekend.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This cottage was all we expected and more! With a kitchen equipped for all your cooking needs, spacious bedroom with a very comfortable king bed, and decks to occupy while enjoying good books we couldn't have asked for more. Recommendations for local restaurants and shops proved valuable and we enjoyed wonderful fresh fish most of our evenings on the island. Thanks for letting us experience Ocracoke from your home. We will return!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

This is, by far, the finest (and best equipped and decorated) rental home in which we have ever stayed. We brought a bag of books to read, but did not open a single one-your library was too fascinating to pass up! We were equally fascinated by the wildlife(egrets, ducks, and a family of otters). We had a wonderful time, your hard work was appreciated.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

The house was so comfortable, lovely, spacious and attractively furnished that we spent more time here just relaxing than we spent sightseeing, walking the beaches, etc. Thanks and more thanks for this exceptionally clean house. We are honored to have had this chance.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I stayed at the cottage with my 2yr old daughter over a year ago, but can't get it out of my mind! I've told everyone looking for a place on Ocracoke about it! Exceptionally: Clean & Well stocked. The owners clearly take much pride in this rental. I've stayed in over a dozen VRBO rentals, and this cottage is at the top. Although only a 1/br cottage, it offers much space, and the deck is lovely! The owner was very helpful. I've been back to Ocracoke 3xs since my stay at this cottage-- each time this cottage was booked--- only proving that it is an outstanding value!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway.

I have had the pleasure of visiting this cottage more than once and can attest to the comfortable accomodations you will find when visiting this home. The kitchen is equipped with all of the accessories that are required to prepare a great meal. The extra special care of offering bath towels and having the bed made with fresh linens upon arrival is just another feature to make you feel welcome instantly. There are a number of books available that will make an afternoon on any of the decks a relaxing retreat from the real world. And, if that isn't enough of an escape, a quiet stroll in the canal by kayak will have you wondering if you can afford to stay another month or so.Did you find this review helpful?
