GREAT VIEWS, very quiet, secluded
GREAT VIEWS, very quiet, secluded
The overall stay was good. The views are definitely outstanding. The home is quiet and secluded. The breakfast area is fantastic, I really enjoyed the views while eating together with my family every morning. The house is average and the kitchen equipment is so-so, but the price is pretty low compared to other rentals so I guess that is to be expected. I really wanted to enjoy the views from atop the garage more than once, but the shaky stairs made me so nervous! If you are only renting half, I recommend the upstairs (although the pool table downstairs was a nice edition to the evenings!). My husband, daughter, and I slept downstairs and felt the amount of bugs indoors was too much for us, stepping on them getting out of bed, squishing them after a shower, dead ones along the edges of the carpet... This really ruined it for me. The rest of my family did not have the same troubles upstairs, thankfully. I did write the owner regarding the issue in case she was not aware, and she says the home was sprayed prior to our arrival. Maybe the home needs a few areas sealed up downstairs. If you are looking for top of the line amenities, look elsewhere. If you just want a quiet, secluded home to get away from everyday life that's easy on the wallet, this place will be perfect. If I were only reviewing the views, I'd give 5 stars.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME BUT BETTER!
HOME AWAY FROM HOME BUT BETTER!
This is the perfect get away if you want peace and quiet. It is on a secluded road at the top of a hill, no traffic, no dogs barking, just quiet. The view is amazing, the sunrises are breathtaking. It is about a 30-45 minute drive to Chattanooga so we would plan on spending several hours sightseeing before we made our way back "home". The furniture is a little worn and the sofa bed uncomfortable, but that is to be expected, just take an air mattress as there is plenty of room! There was so much seating to enjoy the view and wildlife from every angle inside and out. The pool table was a great addition as it added fun to the evenings and we used the hot tub as well, the evenings were cooler and made it even nicer to enjoy. There were many hidden treasures right in the area, Wanda's Restaurant was a favorite and there is farmer's markets/fresh produce close by. If you like hiking and/or walking Cloudland Canyon and Chickamauga Creek trail are wonderful and close. The Chickamauga Battlefield is also a great and interesting place to visit. This home is furnished as far as pots, pans, etc., and there is also a grill with a covered area and more seating, there was even seasonings and other goodies available and plenty of towels and linens. There is also a washer and dryer which makes packing so much easier. There is a Dollar General about five minutes away so anything you forget can easily be gotten there. The owner was absolutely wonderful as well, from the time of booking right through our stay Patti was available and was so helpful. This home is so spacious and comfortable and the set up is great for two families to enjoy their own privacy but yet also spacious enough to all be together to enjoy each other's company. We were there close to the 4th of July and we were able to sit on the deck and watch fireworks from five different spots. I would highly recommend this home to anyone, it is a must see and so much better than any hotel!!!! Thank you Patti for all your help and hospitality!

Really Amazing Views!!!
Really Amazing Views!!!
Several of my friends and I rented this place Mid-June and it was amazing! The views at sunrise are breathtaking and at night make you believe you are on another world. The house comfortably held all of us and was close to all of sights and attractions we wanted to see. My friends and I remarked several times how wonderful this place is throughout our stay and were joking on staying the month there if we could. The owners were very help getting this setup and even emailed me once during the trip to let us know about a fireworks show that we could see from the deck from Chattanooga (which was very cool to watch from there.) Wonderful place to get away from it all and we've talked about doing this again in the future.

Wonderful Vacation Home!
Wonderful Vacation Home!
My family and I enjoyed a 10-day Christmas stay at View-topia. The property and views were even more breathtaking than anticipated! The photos in the listing description don't do it justice. The property was clean and well-maintained, and as we would be there through Christmas, it was an added treat that the house was decorated for the holidays. There was even a small lighted Christmas tree and ornaments for us to trim it. We started each day with a glorious sunrise, and later on headed out to see nearby attractions, We visited Rock City, Ruby Falls, and Raccoon Mountain, which are all in the Chattanooga, TN area (about 35 minutes away). We also spent time in downtown Chattanooga and watched an excellent community theatre production of Annie. In the evenings, we enjoyed the pool table and hot tub. The owner was easily reached when making the reservation, and is a very pleasant person. The property is pet-friendy, and even has a small fenced area. Per the rental agreement and for your pet's safety, you will want to keep them leashed. Our dogs thoroughly enjoyed the walks! I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a beautiful, secluded, retreat. As there are some steep areas in the road leading to the house, I would suggest tire precautions during snowy weather. My family and I had a wonderful time, and look forward to returning.

Owner response: So glad you had a great time at View-topia! Thanks for listing all the things you did during your stay. And thanks for taking such good care of our home and being such responsible pet owners. We do try to keep the gravel road graded regularly. It is actually easier to get up in the snow than it would be if it were paved. Please come back anytime you can.
What a wonderful and relaxing experience, everywhere you turn there is a view. I especially enjoyed spending the morning on the main deck, drinking coffee, watching the haze clear, and listening to the birds chirp. We cooked, played pool, and spent the evenings in the hot tub. We will remember our visit for years to come and can't wait to make a return trip. It is evident that a lot of care was put in to furnishing the house, it feels like home. I can't say enough about how much my husband, our friends, and myself enjoyed our stay. Kimberly San Diego, CA

What a Fantastic Weekend!
What a Fantastic Weekend!
Viewtopia really is all you need to hear. Sweeping views, accommodating and responsive hosts, clean, and conveniently located. My girlfriend, dog, and I had one of the best weekends of our lives there (6/15-17/2012), and this house was a huge part in that. Could not beat the views in the morning (300 degree's) watching the sunrise nor relaxing in the hot tub at sunset. There was a basket of treats waiting for us, and the owner's went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Cannot wait to go back!

Owner response: Thanks, Andrew, for sharing your View-topia experience with us and other potential guests! Hearing that you enjoyed all the ammenities is one of the main reasons we bought this place. It was not a vacation rental then, but we decided it would just be wrong not to share it with the world. So we set about to make it everything we look for when we visit a vacation rental. Please do come again.
Perfect Escape From The City
Perfect Escape From The City
I decided to take my friend here to celebrate his 24th birthday. We were both pleasantly surprised at the comfortable atmosphere made by the cozy interior decoration and spacious gathering areas. Shooting pool in the sunlit room downstairs is the perfect way to spend a relaxing evening away from the stresses of city life. We spent most of our time at the house but one day we made the half-hour drive to Chattanooga and went to the aquarium and Ruby Falls. While the decorating and accomodations of this place are great, the shining star of this house is THE VIEW (of course). The self-proclaimed title "View-topia" is well-deserved. With the wrap-around deck and crow's nest there is no shortage of panoramic scenery of the Appalachian foothills at this place. Will definitely be going back!

Owner response: It is always wonderful to hear that someone chose "View-topia" to celebrate a special event. Thanks for sharing your experience. It is a blessing to know that we had a part in helping make someone's birthday a little more fun : ) You don't have to wait til next year to come back!
What a superior place to spend your time in the Chattanooga area !! Beautifully decorated and supplied. Spend your time on the multiple decks drinking a fine wine or your brew of choice. The view is spectacular. Don't be put off by the gravel road approach. You are in the "pickers", but it is easy to get anywhere you want to go in the Chattanooga area. We will go again as soon as the opportunity presents itself. Tommytunes
