KNIPPLE'S COTTAGE
Come relax and enjoy the beautiful sunrises and sunsets at this perfect spot on Silver Lake. This house is just a few miles from Traverse City and all the activities around this sporting area. Don't forget the Cherry Festival in July! And if you enjoy the arts, Interlochen Arts Academy is practically right around the corner.
This small and warm house was purchased by my grandfather in 1963 as a summer cottage. He renovated the cottage so it could be lived in year 'round and in 1966 grandfather and grandmother moved in and spent the rest of their lives here. After my father retired in 1989, he added on a sun room, deck and lower deck. The lower deck is right at the lake.
There is a dock which can accommodate two boats. No smoking!

The deck has loose nails. The dock was unstable. The sliding door failed to slide. The screen of the sliding door fell off. There was a large-active wasp nest by the dock that we discovered after my son was stung. While we were away on a day trip, the caretakers burned trash in a steel garbage bin by the garage, where the smoke pattern filled the cottage... causing us to have to air it out for a full day. The fire in drum was still smoldering, still filling the cottage with smoke when we arrived in the evening. Finally, after all this, we never received a check for our security deposit, the owner claiming we left the place a mess. Not true. We cleaned it well and left it far better than we found it. Look, we travel a lot, all over the world in fact and we've had good and bad experiences, but never did we feel the need to write a bad review to warn others to stay away. Whatever the price, it's not worth the aggravation.Owner response: I am very disappointed in this review. We pride ourselves in providing a comfortable, attractive cottage to relax and enjoy. We have had numerous people stay at the cottage and everyone has told me what a nice time they had during their stay. A couple have even sent me pictures of some of the things they did while on vacation! The people who take care of my property are very responsible and trustworthy. True, the sliding door to the deck was causing some problems, but that has been resolved. I'm very sorry the reviewer did not enjoy their stay, but I'm sure it was an isolated incident.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1963
About the owner: I am from Indiana. I am married with 1 daughter and 5 grandchildren. I spent my summers here at the cottage, along with my grandparents and my parents. This is my second home! and i am glad to be able to share the experience of the beautiful area.
Why the Owner Chose Traverse City:
My grandfather was an avid sportsman. Fishing and hunting were his life after he retired. My father loved the area for the nature and the arts. Make new and wonderful memories with your family! Our cottage is a great little family get away. You are right on the lake, and a nice size yard to run.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Water activities. The arts. We swim and boat on Silver Lake, go over to Empire Beach and play in the surf, then come back to Interlochen and see the students perform. Boones Long Lake Inn is also a great place for great food and music.
