The snow is great at Taos Ski Valley, just 25 minutes away. Or take advantage of any of the other ski valleys within an hour to two hours drive . You can always just knock around Taos at the great museums, galleries and shops. Then, come relax by the fire at Luna Vista, your spacious adobe home away from home. Take in the glorious views of Taos Mountain and the Sangre de Cristo Range from the hot tub, the front porch or inside the house. There is plenty to do nearby: A visit to the Taos Pueblo or Old Town Plaza, perhaps? Lots of fine dining at all prices too, if you don't feel like cooking in Luna Vista's spacious, well-equipped kitchen. A variety of music and theatre in fun settings as well. Join us.
The interior of Luna Vista is roomy and features a master bedroom with two queen beds and another bedroom with a massive king sleigh bed. The sofa in the living room pulls out into a queen bed as well. The house is built with traditional viga ceilings and tile floors and boasts furniture built for comfort, a complete kitchen with enough room for two cooks, original Southwestern art work and a cozy TV nook with recliners off the living room.
The banquet-type dining table and openness make for great for entertaining yet the home encourages intimate getaways as well.
Enjoy Taos, nearby Taos Ski Valley or one of the many colorful towns nearby, then return to the serenity of your accommodations and an evening around the fireplace.
Note: While we are pet friendly, we do not have a fenced yard. Pets must be walked up the dirt road or on the primarily desert property.

Why the Owner Chose Taos
The mountains and quality of light found in and around Taos have become part of my soul. I love the organic feel of an adobe house. Plus I am a sucker for a view. That's why I chose my particular viewing spot. The sunrises and sunsets always delight. Watching the moon rise from the portal is magic.
The Unique Benefits at this House
I am five minutes from the road that leads to the ski valley or, if you go west, to the Rio Grande Gorge. I like that I can be away from town and looking at the mountains above it but still drive to town within 10-15 minutes. Taos has so much going on, from artistic endeavors to fantastic restaurants. Good shops and museums. The Northside Spa and Tennis Club is a short drive and offers both an indoor and outdoor pool, gym equipment, a variety of classes from spinning to yoga, massage and steam rooms. Hiking is a big draw to this area, along with the obvious skiing cross-country and snowshoeing opportunities. There are state and national parks and plenty of little-known walks to take. Hiking trails are rarely crowded so there usually is a sense of privacy and personal discovery.
Owner's Map of Taos
I have a career as a print journalist, and have been writing a non-fiction book in a nearby casita. A native of Kansas City, I lived in New Mexico for more than 20 years. I have just moved away from the Land of Enchantment for a year. I am in San Francisco while I finish and market my book. Casey Flynn, my wonderful manager, is living in the casita behind Luna Vista and will help visitors with anything they need.
My mate and I are travelers, part gypsy. We have spent eight weeks in New Zealand junketing about in a camper van, then four weeks traveling around Australia. We have a BMW motorcycle which we took to Alaska a few summers ago, the north shore of Lake Superior and the Grand Canyon last year.
Cooking, gardening, hiking, swimming and painting all top my list of fun things to do, along with appreciating my partner's photography.

What a magical view of the sun rising over the Sangre de Cristo mountains in the morning and the twinkling lights of Taos below in the evening. A relaxing evening in the hot tub with a blanket of stars above, or a short trip to the galleries and museums in Taos. This beautiful adobe home was the perfect get away for an entire month. Total relaxation in a very comfortable home that is beautifully decorated with art of this intriguing culture. A wonderful place to stay for a week or a month. I will be back!!

Our family absolutely will return to this warm and inviting home. The owner was very accomodating in every way, from excellent communication to adding personal touches to the house, like fresh flowers and fruit. The decorated real Christmas tree was awesome and smelled so good! The large banquet style table was perfect for our family to enjoy meals and play games together. The beds were very comfortable and hot tub was a great way to relax after a day of skiing at nearby Taos Ski Valley. Kitchen was very well equipped and the seperate laundry room was a nice extra to have. The interior of the house is very authentic New Mexican. I loved the viga ceiling, which can't be seen in the pictures!! Every want or need has been thought of by the owner and prepared for accordingly. The house is very tastefully decorated and is just like or better than the pictures shown. Lots of room and the open floor plan makes for a comfortable stay for everyone. We had guests from in town over for steaks cooked on the grill with plenty of room for everyone....some were watching a movie on the satellite in the tv nook, others were sitting comfortably visiting in front of the fireplace while a few others sat at the table playing cards. The view from any window is absolutely beautiful!!! The property inside and out is very clean and well maintained. Altogether, we loved our stay and would highly recommend to anyone.

We recent had a very enjoyable stay at this location. The house was as described, very comfortable, equipped with everything you might want to make your stay comfortable. Nicely stocked kitchen, wifi, dish tv. It is tastefully decorated. The beds were comfortable and house was clean and well maintained. The best part is the views out the large windows, each evening we were treated with the glow of the sunsets on Taos Mountain and twinkling lights of Taos at a distance. It is a peaceful, quiet and relaxing location. Local sights not to miss are Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, High Road to Taos, San Francisco de Asis Mission Church all photographic treats.

We have just spent Memorial Day weekend enjoying this warm, welcoming, thoughtfully-equipped house, and we could not have chosen a better place to stay. The house is spacious and beautiful (yes, it really does look like the pictures), and is in a setting that made us want to get up early to drink coffee on the front porch and watch the sun rise over the mountains. Good hiking trails are nearby, and excellent restaurants are too. We had a wonderful time at Luna Vista, and recommend it highly to anyone visiting the Taos area.

Our stay here was wonderful and relaxing. We are hoping to visit again soon. Sally has the house well stocked, everything from enough blankets, tons of towels, fans, laundry detergent, even spices for food. All we did was buy our food, she provided everything else. The kitchen is well stocked with every utensil you will need. The house is impecably clean and every need is thought of before the need arises. The view of the moon rising over the mountains was our favorite memory. The views are breath taking. The drive to town is just a short distance, but far away enough to provide privacy. The gorge bridge is a well worth 5 minute drive. This has been the best upkept vacation home that I have visited. Only complaint is that I could not stay there longer. Loved the nightly visit from Maggie the kitten! I'm sure she loved the treats.

Luna Vista is an amazing house in a great location. It has very easy access to the Taos ski area road and is just a short drive to the Taos Plaza and Pueblo. Both the daytime and nighttime views are spectacular! During the day the mountains seem close enough to touch and the nighttime twinkle of Taos is at your feet. The interior views are just as stunning as the exterior ones. The house is very tastefully decorated with art, classy furniture, and beautiful linens. I really enjoy cooking even on vacation and Luna Vista has the best equipped rental kitchen I have ever cooked in...lots of spices, utensils, pots...amazing! The owner was very helpful and had great, well organized information about the house and Taos. I look forward to my next visit to Taos and my stay at Luna Vista. Highly recommend.

A wonderful vacation home with fantastic views of the mountains and the city. The home was exceptionally well furnished with everything one could want and special touches of fresh flowers and fruit bowl. Thoroughly enjoyed the quiet night from the hot tub and morning coffee on the patio. Will definitely be on our return list. Thanks so much for everything.

This is the perfect vacation home. Can you imagine...three evenings in a row we had double rainbows! Just a few miles from the center of Taos, this lovely home is surrounded by beautiful views of Taos Mountain and its surrounding ranges. The spacious rooms are well lit and comfortable with multiple gathering spots. The owner was simply fabulous, tending to our every need and answering every question. We definitely plan on retuning to this wonderful space. Highly Recommended.
