My husband and two children went back to this spot with our extended family and had a blast. All of the space makes it a great place for the kids to put all of their energy to work! As other reviews have mentioned, this place is not fancy at all, but it's wonderful for people looking for a different type of getaway. The house is totally unique with tons of history. We spend most of our time there hanging out in the yard, going for short hikes, playing ping pong and board games. We love being off the grid with no cell phone access because it actually forces us to relax!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

I got married here 3 years ago and returned for a weekend with family in May -- we love it! Beautiful, private feel to this property with a ton of possibilities for outdoor activities -- hiking, swimming, tennis, walking around the pond, etc. The house is large and rustic with its own quirks that understandably come with a home with a rich history, as I would expect in general with older homes. It might not be up your alley if you're looking for modern or new interior space, but it's perfect for a quaint country getaway. I find its unique qualities to give it a kind of character that one can't easily find in other places. I stayed here for a family reunion after falling in love with it when I had my wedding here in 2010. Again, it was so charming and peaceful, and my whole family enjoyed using the grounds - the pool, tennis court, pond...so much to do! It was a truly relaxing vacation and it was so nice to have so much space for our family to spread out and enjoy the property. Definitely recommend.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

I rented this house for my wedding and my husband and I were thrilled with it! We got rave reviews from our friends and family, who stayed in the house with us. The setting is gorgeous and private - perfect for a country wedding or family gathering. There are tons of activities to do without even leaving the property - swimming, tennis, boating, and more. You can't beat the amount of space, which makes it so comfortable for large groups. We were so thrilled with our stay at Big Indian Springs. We had over 40 people stay at the house, and all were quite comfortable. The scenic views from the porch was worth the trip on their own. We had dinner every night out on the porch, and even had a little talent show on the stage. My son and I took the little row boat out on the pond and had a blast. This spot is a great place to unwind and disconnect form the rest of the world. I would highly recommend Big Indian Spring for anyone looking for a low key retreat with lots of great friends and family.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, families with teenagers.

What a fabulous location, ideal for a rustic wedding! We had a fabulous time hosting a wedding of 80 guests, many of whom stayed in the house with us. We happened to have rain for our wedding, and the indoor theater was a perfect location to move the ceremony inside. We also were able to make use of the large living rooms for the reception, and then went back to the theater for dancing! It is a great setting for a family get-together - people throughout the weekend were able to use the tennis courts, swimming pool, and pond. We loved it!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers.

We have come here 2 years in a row, and it suits are needs perfectly. We are planning on coming back next year, too. This is a nice country estate, with lots of rooms and space for activities indoors and out. The house is clean and also very private. The owners are very helpful with answering all of our questions beforehand. I agree with the previous statements, if you are loking for a 5-star hotel, this is not the place for you, it is an older home with a lot of history to it. We stayed at the house for New Year's 2011 with a group of about 35 friends, and have booked the house once again for New Year's 2012. We did go up to look at the house about a month prior to our stay to make sure it would be habitable for us city folks. We have stayed at five star hotels around the world which provide you with certain expectations, this house is far from it. What this house is an old, clean, unique, charming house in the woods, on a beautiful property with plenty of history. If you are a stickler for perfection this house may not be for you, but if you enjoy the company of a bunch of your very close friends more than your overall surroundings, then this house will cater well to your basic necessities.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers.

We held our wedding at this home and it was a beautiful, huge success. We were able to host many of our guests at the house and were married in a gorgeous spot by the pond. We held the cocktail hour inside the house and on the large front porch, then we rented a tent for the large yard space next to the house, and were able to host nearly 200 people. The next morning we hosted brunch at the house. Guests raved about the wedding and the amazing location.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

We had our family reunion at this house back in summer of 2010. What a rip off. If the place is kept up, it would be well worth the money. However, with its current condition, it's a big scam. The place is creepy, old, smelly, dirty and run down. No phone signal. WiFi is provided but goes in and out, more out than in. Many private sign posted everywhere. Bathrooms are carpeted which make them damp and smelly. Rooms are dirty and old. Windows in some rooms are crooked. Sheets and pillows stink. Table and chairs are old. Sofas are old and smelly. Kitchen is only at half capacity if there. No lock on any door. Junk everywhere. Pool dirty. Yard not maintained. Porch dirty. Dolls in the bathroom staring at you when you take your shower or bath. Washer and dryer not working. All beds condition are poor. I didn't think it was possible but I got 99 mosquito bits (yes, one short of 100) on me in 2 days. I can go on forever. Our reunion was cut short because some people can't stand the place and left early. I don't understand how someone can charge people money for a place like this. In this condition, I wouldn't go back if it is free. This place has a separate house for the house keeper. A house keeper that didn't do anything. This place remind me of the Bates Hotel. DO NOT GO !!!!! Unfortunately, some other people have been scammed since I went. This house should be closed down by the government and put under watch until it meet specific instruction before reopening.
