Great home but management/maintenance issues
Great home but management/maintenance issues
I booked this house for my wedding weekend to host my closest friends. I must admit that I was pretty embarrassed at times. I don't know if it was because I booked it during the "off season" that we had many issues. To be fair lets start with the positives, THE PROS: - The house was made for entertaining. Great common spaces & awesome layout that allowed us hang together and still enjoy our separate rooms. - The house had some great amenities (pool, jacuzzi, courtyard, etc) - The dining room table was big enough to accommodate everyone. Often times a house will say it can sleep 14 but the dining table can only seat 8. - They had lobster pots and lots of other nice items for us to use. - There is some signs of aging and wear and tear but the rooms are still gorgeous and nicely decorated. - When I called the owner to address the problems, while he was pretty unfriendly, he was willing to address some of the issues but it was an extreme inconvenience to be on the phone for one hour with a defensive home owner who obviously didn't realize he has staffing issues. Now for the unpleasant part,THE CONS: - I paid additional for the pool to be heated and not only was it dirty and covered but not turned on. He didn't offer me any refunds. - I had to wait for the pool guy to come and uncover the pool. Not what I want to be doing on my wedding weekend. When I mentioned to the cleaner that they were tons of worms and leaves in the pool, he didn't blink an eye in telling me that a pool cleaning was not scheduled. Note to the owner schedule your pool cleaning before renting it out. - The same with the jacuzzi. Filled with green slime. - The house looked like it needed a proper cleaning. Dust bunnies, dirt, streaky windows, etc were an obvious sign that management needs to hire a new cleaner. - None of the linens were on the bed so I initially assumed they were dirty. I know some places have different linen policies but none was indicated in the agreement, so I scrambled to cover all 7 bed myself before my guests arrived. - Many issues with the bathrooms. The shower drain was clogged and one faucet wasn't working in the garage bedroom. Two sink drains didn't work properly and some bulbs in the bathrooms were out. Now none of these issues would have been deal breakers on their own, but combined they were too many. The house deserves a 5 star but the management deserves 2 thus my 3 star rating.

Best of the best!
Best of the best!
I am remiss at not having written sooner. Last August was our second year in this house and we just reserved for next summer - and that should say it all! The home is absolutely top shelf and even more important - so is David, the owner. This last year we had a couple of very minor issues and he had his people absolutely jump on it! As someone else said, he obviously built his dream house and we are the grateful beneficiaries. Our group consists of my wife and I, our three married kids and their spouses and our six grandkids, ranging from 1 to 8. Then add the Nanny and you have one whole heck of a lot of people! The nanny sleeps in the separate apartment over the garage and it is a wonderful vacation for her too. I guess I would feel better if the dining room chairs weren't white (!) but we put towels over them for the kids and have not had a problem. I can tell you that when you rent a house like this, you tend to take REALLY GOOD CARE OF IT! It deserves no less. The first year we rented, we were concerned that we could no longer walk to the beach but it has not been a problem at all. The first year we bought some parking passes but since then we have not done that. We get rolls of quarters before we go down there. We take the kids to the ocean a few days, getting there before 10 AM, parking very close to the beach and feeding the meter for about 3 hours. Costs about $10 - still cheaper than the passes and you get to park much closer to the beach. After that, we're ready to go home. Lunch occasionally at the beach and sometimes at home and then the afternoon by the pool. We are grateful to David for making this wonderful home available and for being such a mensch. Our kids range from 32 to 39 and they look forward to it every year. As an aside, we went to Rehoboth when they were young kids and they always had great memories. And now, the chance to have all the grandkids together with each other simply can't be beat. Don't look any further. This house has everything.

Amazing beach house
Amazing beach house
My friends and I rented this house over Labor Day and we had an absolute blast. It is without question one of the nicest houses in all of Rehoboth. I know this as I have rented houses in Rehoboth for years. The house was impeccably clean and extremely well maintained. The owner was available 24/7 for any questions we had, responding to calls and text messages immediately. The layout of the house is perfect for vacationing with all of the common areas arranged around a beautifully landscaped central courtyard with an amazing pool, waterfall and a hot tub. There are very comfortable lounge chairs for soaking in the sun, as well as a great outdoor sofa for relaxing in the shade and reading a book. The living spaces inside are equally inviting and accessed by six sets of double french doors around the courtyard. The best part of the house is the privacy, both externally and internally. The house feels like a secluded oasis, in the middle of Rehoboth. All of the bedrooms are enormous and have their own private bathrooms. There are also decks everywhere on each floor if you want to escape your friends or family! Of course the finishes in the house are all top of the line. It is clear that the owner built himself a dream house at the beach and never intended to rent it as there are some features which are truly over the top...like the designer Italian furniture throughout and of course the 6x6 master shower with double french doors which open to a private deck - FROM THE SHOWER! We were completely spoiled for the week we stayed and quite frankly, I don't think I could find another house in Rehoboth which will come close to this one. We will definitely be returning next year, so for those of you reading this review, Labor Day is mine!

Rehoboth Beach was one of our favorite spots to take our children when they were young. We always stayed right on the beach. We returned this summer, with our adult children and grandchildren. I was leary about staying a little over 1 mile from the beach, with small children. We were MORE than pleasantly surprised!! This property was beautiful, spacious, clean, well-maintained with a perfect layout for our 12 people. We all had our own space, yet we all could be together. We thought we would spend all day at the beach, which we ended up doing every morning. However, all our afternoons were spent at the lovely, courtyard & pool at the house. It was all self contained, so the children were safe and there was no chasing. We walked, and road bikes to the beach, and shopping. (We would have 1 person take a car, with all our beach equipment.) the nights we went to restaurants we drove. The open floor plan, made for great gatherings in the beautiful, well equipped kitchen. Cooking was fun & everything you needed was available. Everyone even went home with clean clothes, because of the convenience of the 2 utility rooms! It was the perfect family vacation not only because of the beauty of the house, but the location worked out perfectly!! Once we got home, I realized I lost a diamond earring at the house. When I contacted the owner, he asked his housekeeper if perhaps she found it. This woman went above & beyond! She searched thru the vacuum cleaner bag, and FOUND IT!! Her honesty, and kindness amazed me! Her loyalty to the owner, tells you even more about how they both care about their quests! I hope that we can return one day!!

Owner response: Im so glad that you and your family had a wonderful vacation and that you loved the house and its location. I'm glad you recognized how spacious the house is, even with 12 people. I am also thrilled that your earring was found...my housekeeper Patricia, who has been with me for 7 years, always goes above and beyond and is the most honest and kindhearted person. I do hope, as well, that you make a return visit one day. - David
Beautifully designed home, very spacious, welcoming and comfortable. Owner clearly has an eye for detail. Both the home and grounds are very well maintained. Location is perfect... just a hop skip and jump from the beach and the outlet malls, yet secluded if you're looking for a quiet and relaxing retreat. Definitely more geared for renters who are looking are a relaxing and rejuvenating getaway. Hands-downm, well worth the investment.

Best house around Rehoboth!
Best house around Rehoboth!
We stayed in this house after a few of our friends had stayed over the Memorial Day weekend. We absolutely had the time of our life! The house is located in a private setting and everything you need is in the house when you arrive. The pool was beautiful and it was so relaxing to sit outside all day long. Don't hesitate to book this place, you don't be disappointed!

I found this rental great for a family vacation. Lots of room, great location about a mile from the beach. The pool was a big plus and well maintained.Close to the boardwalk, shopping and fine restaurants. The property was well maintained both inside and out. The 2 men representing the owner were very helpful whenever we had a minor problem. The only drawback is that you have to wash ALL sheets and pillowcases before check out(11:00AM) which was not very easy to do time wise, so I would suggest you bring your own sheets and pillowcases to save you some time the morning of your departure.

About the owner: I built my dream house with a spacious courtyard with pool and waterfall being the center of the home...an extension of the indoors and bringing the outdoors in. When all the french doors are open, it feels like you are living in a resort, where there are no boudries between the outside and inside. My passion for architecture, art and cooking has influenced every part of the design of this home. As a real estate developer, I unsured the highest level quality in construcion and materials. I'm sure you will fall in love with this house as I have.
Why the Owner Chose Rehoboth Beach:
I have been coming to Rehoboth Beach for 25 years and wanted to build a house close enough to the beach, yet with enough property to build a large house with expansive pool courtyard. This setting is idealic with privacy near the end of a cul de sac bordered by woods, yet close enough to shops and dining in town. You can walk or bike to town which is under a mile, and a wonderful hiking, biking, jogging trail which goes from Rehoboth to Historic Lewis, is just one block from Canal Corkran. This is turly the best of all worlds in a Spa like setting.
