The nearest banks are in Motul and Progreso, 20 minutes to the south and west, respectively. Telchac Puerto is where Mexicans go for vacation!
Many families from Merida and Mexico City have their vacation homes here, and Americans & Canadians are moving in quickly. We are told Telchac Puerto is what Play del Carmen was 25 years ago - a slow paced fishing village where people have time to savor life!
Nearby shopping and attractions are available in Progreso (25 minutes west); Motul (20 minutes south) and Merida (45 minutes south and west of Telchac). Adventure tourism, Archeology, culture and shopping; and just lazing on the beach are just a few of the things you can do while staying in Telchac Puerto.
You will find in each apartment a breakfast bar; fully equipped kitchen; daybed; pillowtop king sized mattress; top quality bed linens; a patio that walks directly out onto sand and the swimming pool; and your very own palapa from which you can test drive that brand new hammock you bought at the market! We are a Canadian family trying to escape Canadian winters! You can see us here enjoying the ocean right in front of our house. Telchac is known for its shallow, calm, bathtub like waters during summer months. You can see us here enjoying such conditions. Other times of the year, the winds pick up and it's perfect for windsurfing.

Great house, super clean, several possible activities nearby. Very quiet. Great mayan site such as Ek-Balam and Chitchen Itza 2 hours away. Unfortunately too far from Uxmal for a day trip. Wonderfull Merida is 45 minutes. Great supplies at Progresso 40 min away. Nice clean refreshing pool. Your local host Susan is very helpfull and so is Donna with activities recommandations. Dont miss Cuzama Cenotes and the unique San Crisanto mangrove Cenote. Sunday market at Motul is a great experience for a glimpse of true happy mexican lifestyle and get your top lifetime street photo experience with proud welcoming and happy peoples. It’s a top destination for anybody exploring the middle of the Gulf coast or simply looking for peacefull rest.
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children.

March 2010Thank you Donna and Ryan for a great stay. We had a wonderful time.Donna sent very detailed driving instructions as we were arriving in the evening after dark. We missed the final turn but found it within minutes. She also was very helpful with “things to do” in the area. We did most of them and had great fun. We (3 adults) stayed in the casita and had plenty of room. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. We especially enjoyed the patio with our salsa and chips, margaritas and cervezas to rest after a day of exploring. While due to the north winds the water was a bit murky, the long walks on the beach were very pleasant. The towns folk are very friendly and helpful, in fact all the people from Merida, Progresso as well that helped with directions etc. went out of the way for us.If you are looking for a quiet place at the end of a busy day, somewhere close for day excursions or a chance to experience the real Mexico, this is a place to go!!

My family and I had a wonderful three weeks staying at Ninos Del Mar. It is a perfect location: very scenic, quiet and very safe. The house is very comfortable and has a large, spacious living area and good sized bedrooms. The large balcony and roof terrace have superb views of the Gulf of Mexico and the large garden which leads directly to the beach. Within a short walk is a beautiful lagoon with flocks of flamingos and pelicans. We also saw stingray. It is one of the best places on the Yucatan to see flamingo. The service offered i.e. cleaning, maintenance and pool management was of a high standard. The pool is a very good size and well designed for children. My children spent may hours in the pool and we could watch them very easily from the balcony. It is a short walk to the sandy beach and the warm shallow waters of the Gulf are ideal for swimming and playing in the sea. Ninos del Mar is centrally located. There are many excellent restaurants in the area. We often felt that there was no need to leave the tranquillity of Ninos del Mar but when we did there was more than enough to keep us occupied nearby. The children loved the banana boating at Progresso, the water park between Progresso and Merida, and the world class Go Karting/Sports Centre on the Merida ring road. In addition we had very enjoyable day trips which we would highly recommend to: Beautiful colonial towns of Merida, Isamal and Valladolid. Swim in cenotes Unesco and world famous Myan ruin sites of Chichen Itza and and Uxmal local Myan sites- Dzibilchaltun (where there is an excellent museum and cenotes to swim in) and Xtampu (just up the road- free and you often have the place to yourselves so you can feel as if you have gone back in time) Boat trips at Celestun and San Felipe to see spectacular wild life and fresh water springs out to sea (we were fascinated by the fact that the area is the site of the meteorite that struck earth 65 million years ago and wiped out the dinosaurs, thus causing the springs out to sea as it was the edge of the impact) Unesco recognised Campeche which is a beautiful and historic town is only 2.5 hours away so we were able to do it as a day trip. Many beautiful churches and monasteries. Lunch at one of the of the many elegant hacienda. Finally, we will always have many happy memories of our time at Ninos del Mar and certainly hope to visit again in the future. Jayne Dear London U.K.
