Chincoteague Island is a charming historic fishing village attached to Assateague Island -- a National Seashore and Wildlife Refuge.
There are a wealth of things to do all year round. It has wonderful waters and pristine beaches for swimming, boating, kayaking, crabbing, fishing and kite-flying. The variety of bird and wild pony watching is spectacular, each season bringing new winged migrants to Assateague including thousands of talkative snow geese in the winter. There are nice shops, restaurants, a movie theater, fun for kids (mini-golf, bowling)as well as cultural events and lively festivals. Four museums and visitor centers are there for your entertainment and education in the history and natural history of the area.
Chincoteague is an easy 5 hour drive from central New Jersey and even closer from the Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington D.C areas.
Our water front canal leads into Oyster Bay -- a gorgeous site attracting many bird species. Lovely sunrises and sunsets can be seen from our two decks as well as our private garden.
We have a lot of space in the Yankee Fox, including a large television room on the ground floor with flat screen TV. There are two living floors and a loft over the living room. We have a spacious, fully-stocked eat-in kitchen, which includes cook books and a spice closet. There are two new screen rooms, a reading room, a large laundry room and a gas fireplace to make things cozy.
We have wireless internet access, satellite TVs/channels,
DVD and VCR players. We also have added NETFLIX INSTANT WATCH/STREAMING for your enjoyment. We have books and games galore as well.
The second level is our main living area: There is a large eat-in kitchen with a service and food prep island and a small deck. Our living room is for relaxing and listening to our stereo system and Chincoteague's own radio show! The "loft with a view" is just above the cathedral ceiling living room and accessed by a spiral staircase. The large master bedroom and bathroom opens to the large rear deck and a screen room as does one of the other double bedrooms. The master bedroom has satellite TV. The third bedroom on this floor faces the front of the house and the kitchen deck. There is a full bathroom between the two double bedrooms. We also have a reading and computer room on this floor for quiet times.
Our ground level floor contains a very large TV room with a VCR, DVD, Cable Channels and NETFLIX INSTANT WATCH. There is a gas fireplace and sitting area. The first floor bedroom has two twin beds and a seating area. There is a full bathroom on this level as well as a very large laundry room. This level opens up into the private garden space bordered by a grape arbor. During the summer you can eat the grapes and figs that grow in our well landscaped yard.
There is a spiral staircase leading up to the main living level.
There is a boat dock and a crab trap for your use and we are 250 feet from the Oyster Bay 1 boat ramp.
According to our past guests the Yankee Fox is a very comfortable place to have a family vacation. There is a lot of floor area and nooks and crannies to have private time or do different activities. We provide you with many things to make your stay enjoyable including area brochures, menus, activity schedules.

Thank you for the use of your home! We enjoyed our stay so much. We had a great time playing your games in evening, catching crabs in the canal (thanks for supplying the crab traps) and feeding the birds. The layout was great for our family and we had the best time we ever had at Chincoteague.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This is my first time staying here on the island. I slept in the bedroom off of the water. Besides the very comfortable bed the room felt cozy and the view of the water made me feel so relaxed. The rest of the house is so spacious and well furnished as well as tastefully decorated. The best room was the kitchen where we made some fresh flounder, hush puppies and crab cakes. This made it feel like home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My whole family had an excellent time here. This house met all our needs perfectly and I found the writing desk in the loft rather exciting and helpful. The kids loved the spiral staircase to get up there. It's convenient location to shops and the beach also proved helpful.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home. We had three generations of family here this week and everyone had a splendid time. Your home is beautiful and we loved the shade. It is very roomy and efficient. Also, the boat dock is excellent. PS - For future families - the best croakery and flounder fishing is past Tom'd Cove were the ocean comes in.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We vacationed in Chincoteague every year as kids - now we are back here with our father and our own families! We had a wonderful time. The location is quiet and lovely.Your house is simply beautiful - we love all the details and fun decorations. Our children had fun in the downstairs area - it became their own "private space". Thank you for opening up your home to guests. This is a tradition our family will continue.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our two families are winding up a very fun week here at Chincoteague - our first one here. So much to do and ways to have fun. Your home was very accomodating - plenty of privacy for those needing an escape from three rambunctious boys and plenty of space to be together. We'll be back!Did you find this review helpful? About the owner: We are Howard and Pat from New Jersey. Howie is in the medical field and Pat is in development. We love the outdoors and peaceful places. We have that here in Chincoteague. There isn't another place between NJ and Chincoteague where we can get the variety of things we love to do that is as affordable as this island. Come find out for yourselves!
Why the Owner Chose Chincoteague:
We can walk the Assateague Island trails, view the many birds species, see the annual Pony Penning and Swim, take the Chincoteaue Natural History tour into the island interior to see the pony families, climb the lighthouse, kayak the lovely waters. We also love the crab cakes, the ice cream shops (three!) and the island high tea. The town is a delight because it is unique - old fishing shacks, historic downtown buildings, ducks that waddle all over town and the occasional peacock that wanders from the Wild Fowl Park. The Assateague beaches are pristine and during the summer nights park rangers have campfire lectures. This isn't the Hampton's or Seaside Heights just a nice town with only two franchise restaurants! We find things to do all year long as there are active cultural and social organizations and the beach is inviting no matter the season.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Our waterfront canal leads into Oyster Bay -- a gorgeous site attracting many bird species. Lovely sunrises and sunsets can be seen from our two decks as well as our private Zen garden. We have a lot of space in the Yankee Fox, including a large television room on the ground floor. There are two living floors and a loft over the living room.
