Why the Owner Chose Beaufort
My wife and I had travelled up and down the coast of the two Carolinas for years looking for just the right town. When we spent our first weekend in Beaufort, we knew that we had found our ideal place to have a home. The town was quaint, charming and the locals were friendly. We loved the fresh seafood and the many small coastal villages nearby. Cross the bridge to Morehead City and all the shopping that one could need such as a Wal-Mart supercenter and a new Lowe's home improvement center along with doctors and a hospital are just minutes away. We live near Charlotte and it is long drive but worth it when we get there. All of our family calls it "Getting the Beaufort lazies". It is a little less than an hour from the New Bern airport which has flights connecting to Raleigh and Charlotte. If you are looking for place to stay which feels like a home rather than some cookie cutter furnished condo, look no further. This is our home away from home and is filled with the things that makes it feel like our home such as furniure and antiques from our parents. The kithen is my domain and expect to find just about everything that a good cook would want. Our yard faces North River which is a huge bay which leads to the ocean. Stand at the water and you can see Cape Lookout lighthouse. You can fish from the seawall at high tide or call NC Marine Fisheries Dept. to find out where on the river you can dig for clam and oysters at low tide.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Relaxing. Enjoying nature. When we want to ride to the Beaufort waterfront for drinks and a nice meal with friends, we call our "D.D." (a taxi) and for just a few dollars we are driven home
safely. Away from the hustle and busy streets of town only a few minutes away.
Beach access on right after you get in the state park with a great beach, bath house and parking. The Fort, further down on left is a great place to visit.

The house is roomy, comfortable, clean and charming. The view of the water is great and the backyard is luxuriously large. It is not too far away from town and our entire group loved it and all wished we had been able to stay and enjoy it longer.

We escaped the awful winter in Michigan and had a wonderful month in Beaufort. We met many of our neighbors, who were so welcoming and friendly, it really was like a home away from home. So peaceful and yet only a short drive to downtown Beaufort to sample some of the excellent restaurants offered. It was very hard to leave. Kathy and Jack were a great help suggesting which restaurants to try and where to buy THE BEST fresh fish. It's definitely a place we would return to.
Owner response:Thank you so much for the nice review. It will help others determine if BeaufortHouse might fill their needs for a vacation home. Hope to see you next year. Kathy

My family traveled down to from Michigan to The Beaufort House for a week together before my son entered the US Army. We had a wonderful week at this clean and well maintained property. The house had everything we needed for our extended family of two couples and two children. It was a great location from which we visited The Beaufort Pirate Festival, The Birthplace of Pepsi and nearby historic mansions, saw daily flights of Marine aircraft from Cherry Point, Visited The Outer Banks and Kitty Hawk, went shark and deep sea fishing, and took a sailing tour to Cape Look Out. We loved looking at The Cape Lookout Light from Kathy's backyard at night. We highly recommend Kathy's place and hospitality.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your review of your visit to BeaufortHouse. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We appreciate your son's service to our country. Kathy

Thank you so much for providing this wonderful property. It was truly a home away from home. The waterfront location mad for a peaceful and relaxing setting for our group, and even though we were many, it never felt cramped. The well stocked kitchen was instinctual when it came to locating cooking and serving items. Can't wait to come back next year!
Owner response:We are happy that you enjoy vacationing at BeaufortHouse and look forward to having you back for the third year in 2011. And thank you very much for the review which can help potential guests decide on BeaufortHouse for their vacation. Kathy

Dear Kathy, I can't believe that this will be our third time down here. Our family loves the location on the river, the great yard to play in fly kites in and have gerat water battles. We also like the quiet street at night, very peaceful and relaxing. The best thing we like about the house is how close it is to downtown Beaufort without all the hustle and bustle. We truely feel like we have been away and relaxed when we settle down here. We hope to keep coming back. Thanks Again, Stephanie, Kevin and the girls.
Owner response:Thank you all for the reviews. I hope you will vacation again at BeaufortHouse, and that your kind reviews will encourage others to give it a try. Kathy

I wanted to thank you for sharing your home and tell you how much we enjoyed our stay. Your location was perfect for us as we were traveling the area from Cedar Island to Merrimon to Harkers Island with our realtor some of the time. Such a central location for house hunting and yet wth a quiet setting and beautiful view!! Of course, not without drama as my son cut his foot on an oyster shell on our 3rd day there after all of your warnings. But he had recently had a tetanus shot and we quickly doctored the cuts and now they look quite good. Anyway it was hard to leave and I wish that we could have stayed longer. Maybe next time we will stay longer than one week and I would love to rent with you again (even though our realtor was put off that we didn't rent from her) if you will have us. Thank you again and please feel free to email me anytime if the status of your rental changes.

This will be our third stay at this property. It's absolutely perfect for us. House is spacious, laid out conveniently, beautifully furnished with all the comforts of home and then some. Love the screened in porch in the back yard on the water - Great spot for naps and late night visits. Location is quiet but quick drive to whatever you need... just how we like it. Easily recommend with 5 stars to family and friends. Pictures can't do it justice. Thank you and can't wait to get back.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway.

Kate and I rented this property sight unseen for six months. We had never done this prior and were pretty anxious about what we were going to see. When we drove in the driveway we were struck by the setting. It is a beautiful ranch with a rolling back yard reaching to the water's edge. When we walked in the door we were stunned. Large kitchen,we are gourmet cooks, beautiful family room with large glass doors opening to a deck overlooking the water. The main bath is to die for not to mention the other baths in two of the three bedrooms. There is a great enclosed porch also overlooking the water. Being from upstate New York I can say that was the first time having Thanksgiving dinner on an outside porch! Not much can make us early risers, but this sun rise is unmatched. Even when the owner of the property suggested we check out the sun rise, we were not prepared for what we it. We will never forget our time in that home and will never be able to thank those guys for allowing our 4 pawed baby Madison to spend 6 glorious months in the warmth of the sun.
