Our comfortable condo in the Gold Creek building is very close to the Ski lifts, including the high speed quad, the "Chili Express". We measured the distance with a laser rangefinder, and it is only 280 yards to the Chile lift line.
For this season, 5th Graders Ski & Ride Free. Children 6 & under, Seniors 70+ ski free! Discounts for military and students.
Great views of Wheeler peak from here, and summers are delightfully cool and refreshing at 8600 feet elevation. Get away from that Texas and Oklahoma heat for a while, and enjoy golf, fishing, horseback riding and hiking in the beautiful Moreno valley of northern New Mexico.
Recent Upgrades to condo:
1 New TV in second bedroom (total 3 big flatscreens in unit now!)
2 New Queen Posturepedic mattress with memory foam in main bedroom
3 Replaced vinyl tile in Bath and kitchen with real tile
4 Replaced all TVs with big new flat screens
5 Replaced love seat and sleeper sofa in den with brand new set
6 New roof
7 New internet service
8 New paint in traffic areas
9 New window by dining room table easy open/close with screens
10 New surfaces on stairs
The unit has no AC.... even in the summer, it is cool with a window open. Climb the tallest summit in New Mexico, Wheeler Peak, at over 13000'. Fishing for trout and yellow perch is terrific in Eagle Nest Lake, and anglers can ply the forest streams for coolwater trout. Hunters will find abundant elk, some deer and blue grouse nearby on National Forest land. The fall is particularly breathtaking, with the aspens coloring the mountains in a golden patchwork, and the wily bull elk bugling in the distance....a uniquely wild sound of the mountains.
In the winter, skiing is king, and snowboarders love the new terrain parks. Ample snowmaking will keep your family on the slopes even when other resorts run out of snow. This unit is close enough to head home for lunch and avoid those overpriced greasy burgers at the slopes. If your younger skiers tire before the lifts shut down, they can find refuge and snuggle up in front of the toasty wood stove and enjoy a few cartoons or movies (DVD or VCR). The unit has electric radiant heat throughout, but the wood stove is more fun! Firewood is stacked behind the condo building.
Shoppers and historians will enjoy Taos, a mere 35 minutes or so away, with many artisans shops, restaurants, and a lengthy history going back to the Spanish explorers hundreds of years ago. The area is so appealing that many movie stars have their homes here, including Julia Roberts. Or head down to Santa Fe for even more variety, about 90 minutes away.

Why the Owner Chose Angel Fire
Best place in NM.... a very friendly community. Angel Fire offers the best all around, year round recreation opportunities.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
Our place is so close to the lifts that we can go back to the condo for a break, nap or lunch and then continue skiing afterward.
A great place to fish for trout and yelow perch. Sometime, we plan to hire a local outfitter and do some "icehole" fishing in the winter.
Owner's Map of Angel Fire
Angel Fire is a family oriented ski and snowboard area, the best one for families in New Mexico... and it has the fastest lifts! So when we bought a ski condo, naturally it was in Angel Fire. Our kids were 6 and 8 years old at the time.
We also love the hiking and fishing in the area, and enjoy the wonderfully cool summers as a getaway from Albuquerque. We like to go backpacking up Wheeler peak and camp in a secluded basin, and watch bighorn sheep from our camp.
Our kids are teenagers now, and they out ski us easily, but no problem... we meet up at the condo when they make it back.

condo at christmas

My family stayed in the condo for Christmas week, the condo was exactly as described. With lots of little extra's that you dont normally get with renting condos. Every kitchen gadget imaginable, lots of papertowels and bathroom stuff that (in my experience) is never included. My only issue is most of the firewood didnt fit in the fireplace (too long) but that wasnt a huge deal

My husband and I rented the condo for a week in the mountains to get away from Texas heat. The condo was exactly as described, and the owner was great to work with. I thought it was very comfortable and attractive and clean. The kitchen was equipped with everything I could have possibly needed. I especially appreciated things like tissues, paper towels, dishwasher detergent and much more being provided. That has not been my previous experience in condo and house rentals. The location of the condo is wonderful. It's close to the hiking trails that we wanted to do, and close to the ski lifts, too. We will definately stay in this condo again just as soon as we can get away!

Had a wonderful time this past week. It was nice to find a place so close in and also where we could take our dogs with us. The back area has a nice wooded area where we could walk our dogs. This condo is right in the middle of everything and so convenient for skiers in the winter. We were there the first part of August. We kept the windows and sliding back door open when we were there and it was very comfortable. However, the bedroom got a little warm a night or two. Could have used a ceiling fan in the bedroom. The owner was very cordial and nice to work with. Will keep this in mind if we rent a condo in Angel Fire again.

My wife and I and our two sons rented this condo in late June for a trip to Northern New Mexico to get away from the Albuquerque heat. We used it as a base for hiking adventures in the Wheeler Peak Wilderness as well as strolls on nearby trails in the woods and around the village of Angel Fire. The property is very well maintained. The kids particularly enjoyed the large flat screeen televisions in every room. The beds were clean and comfortable, just like home. The condo was the perfect way to wind down after a day of hard hiking up to 13,000 feet. I enjoyed the comfortable furniture...winding down with a nice single malt is my idea of heaven. My wife was pleasantly surprised with the fast internet service. We'll definitely be back to this condo when our adventures bring us back to Northern New Mexico.

Had an enjoyable stay at Gold Creek. It was just a short walk up to the slopes / chairlift where we could take a break from downhilling, have a snack, then get back to the lifts. The condo was very nice and accomodating for a family of four. The spare bedroom sleeps 3 ~ 4 and has a TV perfect for the kids! The master bedroom has a comfortable bed with window just over the headboard that allows cool mountain air in at night during the warmer months. The price made for an affordable vacation. Will stay here again next year.

Great time on the ski slopes. First time skiers and it was a great experience. The man made snow was new experience also but worked out well. Little parking was uncomfortable and only 1 restroom was a little nuissance but with 4 of us it was fine. The ski from the top of the mountain is awesome. We will go again. Condo is very comfortable and we saved money by cooking in the condo.

The main advantage of this condo was that it was so close to the ski slopes. We also liked having an abundance of free firewood. The condo was clean and had everything we needed away from home. The owners were easy to work with. Being on the third floor was a bit of a hassle. In order for us to consider this condo again, new mattresses are a must.

This is the second time our group has stayed in this condo. It's on the top floor and off on it's own on the far side of the building with a great patio. You can't beat it for the price. The owner has updated the TV's with some nice LCD's which was a great surprise. The two times we've been there have been in the summer for the mountain biking, but we won't hesitate to book again this winter for our snowboard trip.
