Located in Colonial San Antonio at the top of Orizaba at San Felipe, this new home is only a 10 min. walk to the Instituto and then a short walk up Zacateros to Centro.
You enter the property through a lovely rock garden where cactus and flowers thrive and the sound of the fountain invite you to relax and stay awhile. From this level, you begin to see why we call it the 'Million Dollar View.'
This 3-story 3-bedroom home has unobstructed views of Centro and most of San Miguel from every level.
All bedrooms have their own bathrooms, gas log fireplaces, individually regulated heated mattress covers on the beds, IPod docking stations and ceiling fans. The TV/family room has a very comfortable fold-out couch to sleep additional guests and has a full bathroom as well.
The ground floor bedroom has a queen bed with a beautiful headboard made from a 150-year-old door. This cozy room has a large armoire for your clothing and its own entrance from the patio.
The master bedroom on the second floor is decorated in blues and the king size bed with its tin starfish designed headboard reflects the owners love of the ocean. There is a beautiful view of the Parroquia through a glass door and wall of windows that lead to the 2nd floor terrace.
When you aren't looking at the view, there is a 42' LCD TV and DVD player in the room for your enjoyment. There is a large tub/shower in the master bath.
The 3rd bedroom also located on the second floor has 2 twin beds and a distictive jungle feel with ceramics of parrots and other wildlife. It also has a glass door and wall of windows for viewing the city and access to the terrace. A 32' LCD TV and DVD player is located in this room.
The living area has comfy soft cushioned Equipale furniture. There is a long cushioned bench with a cocktail table located between the fireplace area and the dining room that is great extra seating for entertaining.
In the dining area you will find a large antique door fashioned into a table that seats 8. A wall of windows overlooks the patio with its large wall fountain. Open the door and listen to the fountain or place your IPod into the sound system and listen to your favorite tunes.
A fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to prepare and serve meals for 8 is just off the dining area. With a whole-house water purification and ultraviolet light treatment system, it is safe to drink the water from the faucet.
If cooking isn't your thing, then have Rosario prepare something for you. She is a great cook and there are many bilingual cookbooks for your review.
The family room with its full bath and sleeper sofa may be closed off and used as an extra bedroom with its own access through the patio. Or, just use it as movie central with its 52' LCD TV, IPod docking station, DVD player and surround sound.
Our house manager, Tony, is there for your convenience 6 days per week. He speaks excellent English and is famous for his Margaritas. He can help you with any of your needs including communicating with Rosario about your meals. She comes 3 days per week and will prepare a meal and wash laundry at your request. For an extra fee, they are available for parties and dinners.
Casa Madonna has a Vonage line with unlimited long distance to the states, computer, fax, printer, high speed internet connection and WIFI. This is all located in a seperate office area for your privacy and convenience.

My family and I stayed in Casa Madonna this past March during the holly week, and I must say that the house is just perfect. It is big enough to have the family very comfortable and happy. The property it is in perfect conditions, all of them. It has everything you would have at home. The house is more beautiful than it seems, and the view, oh well, you'll enjoy the beauty of SMA from every window in the house. I highly recommend this property, it is such a beautiful house to stay in SMA, also, the town it's just gorgeous, either you decide to visit for a getaway or for seightseeing, Casa Madonna is the perfect place to stay.Owner response: I am so glad you enjoyed our home. We hope you will return soon to Casa Madonna

Last July was my second time to stay at the property. It is absolutely stunningly relaxing and beautiful in so many ways - sunset on the observation deck while sipping Tony's homemade margaritas is probably my favorite time of day there. You can see all the major points of interest in San Miguel, the churches, chapels, the different communities, you hear the bells and even the dogs of San Miguel occasionally. It is a perfect rental property if you do not have a car - taxis are in abundance and, for barely just a few dollars, you can ride into town within a few minutes. Upon entering the property, you feel very secure and you are in a tranquil place with water at the entrance as you cross a little bridge. Tony, runs the house and ensures that you have every comfort you need. The rooms are beautifully decorated - you literally just need to arrive with your clothes as everything else is provided. At the end of your stay, it is customary to tip Tony and the cook/chef. The town of San Miguel is magnificent - very old, pebbled streets, lots of quaint cafes, bars, hotels, art galleries, furniture, furnishings, and shops. The doors of San Miguel are very famous - you will find yourself taking pictures of these huge doors on haciendas, etc. Very tourist firendly town. I highly recommend this Casa and hope to return on an annual basis. Cheers!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for the kind remarks. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope that you return every year. Casa Madonna

The house is as beautiful as it looks in the pictures, and the owners have covered everything. Good information was provided both before arrival and at the property; everything from directions on how to operate the security system and computer station and multiple TVs to where to get groceries and restaurant recommendations was at hand. The lovely home is so spacious and we (2 couples) each had our own space. Everything we needed was there ... Our friend is a cook and enjoyed shopping at the local market for fresh fruits and vegetables and preparing some meals in the well-equipped kitchen. We were able to walk to everything. We spent many a night toasting the city and the sunset from the terrace before journeying out to dinner. The staff (Tony & Lara) were fantastic and very accommodating. Tony's English is excellent and he was not only able to answer all of our questions he went out of his way to make us feel at home and was happy to give us an occasional ride into the city. Lara is an excellent cook and keeps the house spotless and as well does laundry. We appreciated that the house was not in the busy Centro. It was fun to shop, eat dinner and hang-out there, but we liked coming back to our quiet neighborhood and welcoming house.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

Spent a wonderful eight days with friends at Casa Madonna over New Years. Although I have visited Mexico many times over the years (at least thirty), this is the first time there wasn't a beach in sight and quite frankly it was refreshingly different. My flight from Los Angeles landed in Leon at 6AM and senora Donna had arranged for a driver to meet and transport us to the casa. I was a little concerned considering the unsociable hour of the morning but Martin (Mar-teen) was waiting outside customs and kept us entertained with stories during the entire journey to San Miguel. The restaurants and shops in San Miguel were great and it seemed during our walks to and from city center each day, there was a new little boutique or bar or restaurant or gallery or wine shop, waiting to be discovered around every corner - a refreshing change from the touristy beach scene I had become used to over the years. Casa Madonna itself was a delight - it had every modern convenience one could hope for. Entering through the gate you are greeted by two seven foot iron sculptures of mariachi guitar and trumpet players and this is just the start of a very eclectic art journey throughout the casa. It is obvious that senora Donna has spent a lot of effort and love in putting Casa Madonna together and from the aforementioned sculptures to the ceramic turtle relaxing in the reflecting pond, to the massive gate hung in the stairwell, to the various paintings, reliefs, and other decorations throughout the casa, it all just works. The views of the city from the third floor terrace, the second floor bedrooms and the fifteen foot glass walled living/dining room were to die for and we spent many a night toasting the city and the sunset from the terrace before journeying out to dinner. The staff (Tony & Lara) were fantastic and very accommodating. Tony's English was excellent and he was not only able to answer all of our questions he went out of his way to make us feel at home and was happy to give us an occasional ride into the city, or the grocery store (I recommend Mega) - we would tip him a few dollars for this extra service which he seemed very appreciative of. The casa is a bit of a hike from city center (about 15-20 mins), but as I previously mentioned, these daily walks were a delight and it was great exercise. Value for money Casa Madonna wins hands down compared to any of my other trips to Mexico. There is no question in my mind as to if I will return to CasDid you find this review helpful? We stayed at Casa Madonna in early June 2009 and enjoyed the home very much. The view was wonderful and so were the cool breezes. The home is nicely decorated, the beds very comfortable and kitchen and common areas well-equipped. The outside patios were so relaxing! Lara and Tony were awesome also. The description of the home is accurate - even better than we expected. The owners are very accomodating and really want your stay in San Miguel to be the very best! We can't wait to go back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Why the Owner Chose Colonia San Antonio:
Our family has been coming to San Miguel de Allende for years and decided to buy a home because we love the city's charm and the people. Our daughter loves going to the day school in Centro and learning Spanish with the other children. We have made many friends while visiting SMA and enjoy exploring the surrounding area and its rich culture.
